Novel fractions comprising oligosaccharides having 6 to 8 saccharide units and molecular weights between 1,000 and 2,000 and a sulfur content of less than 9 weight percent, are obtained by depolymerizing heparin or heparan sulfate and fractionating the digest by size and charge. These fractions inhibit capillary endothelial cell proliferation $i(in vitro) and are useful in the $i(in vivo) inhibition of angiogenesis. |
