abstract A nonimaging radiant energy device (40) may include a hyperbolically shaped reflective element (42) with a radiant energy inlet (54) and a radiant energy outlet (58). A convex lens (44) is provided at the radiant energy inlet (54) and a concave lens (46) is provided at the radiant energy outlet (58). Due to the provision of the lenses (44 and 46) and the shape of the walls of the reflective element (42), the radiant energy incident (62) at the radiant energy inlet (54) within a predetermined angle of acceptance is emitted from the radiant energy outlet (58) exclusively within an acute exit angle ($g(U)2?).
