abstract |
A process for the synthesis of the fluorochemical compound having the formula: RfSO2N(CHR?2-CHR2COO-)R1N+(R)¿2H, wherein Rf is a fluoraliphatic radical containing 3 to 20 carbon atoms. The synthesis involves reaction of compounds of formula RfSO2N(H)R1N(R)2 and CHR2=CR2COOH in solution at elevated temperatures. The process can be used to synthesize the fluoroaliphatic amphoteric amino carboxylate surfactant having the formula: C¿6?F13SO2N(C2H4COO?-)C¿3H6N+(CH3)2H, which compound is useful in aqueous film-forming foamable concentrates for extinguishing flammable liquid fires. |
