The invention concerns a process for producing polymers of vinyl aromatic compounds at temperatures in the 0-150 DEG C range in the presence of catalyst systems containing as active components: (A) compounds of general formula (I): XM(Z<1>)z1(Z<2>)z2(Z<3>)z3, and (B) open-chain or cyclic alumoxane compounds of metallocene ion-forming compounds selected from the group comprising strong neutral Lewis acids, ionic compounds with Lewis-acidic cation, and ionic compounds with a Bronsted acid as cation. |
