abstract The invention relates to compounds of the formula (I) wherein R is a phenyl or naphthyl radical which can be substituted once or several times by halogen, a hydroxy, alkoxy, aralalkoxy, alkyl, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, nitro, trifluoromethyl or methylenedioxy group, or a cycloalkyl ring with 3 to 8 carbon atoms which can be substituted by a methyl group, and A is a group -(CH2)n-, -X-(CH2)n- or -CH2-X-(CH2)n- which can be substituted once or several times by methyl groups, wherein n is a whole number between 1 and 8, X is oxygen, alkylamino, aralalkylamino or SOm with m = 0-2 and Y is CH=CH or S. The invention also relates to the tautomers, enantiomers, diastereomers and physiologically compatible salts of said compounds and medicaments containing these compounds which are used to treat diabetes mellitus.
