Director of Lab Operations and Innovation
Diego A Morales-Scheihing, MBA, PhD, is Coriell’s Associate Director of Laboratory Services. In this role, Diego is responsible for driving the Research and Development (R&D) Department in Coriell. Along with the Business Development team, Diego implements new technologies in Coriell to expand and develop new business.
Prior to Coriell, Diego worked as Senior Program Manager at The University of Texas McGovern Medical School. In this role, Diego acquired vast experience managing and troubleshooting different projects and mastered processes improvement at different levels of the group's operations. Also, Diego acquired experience supporting and implementing new projects and the submission of grants to many funding agencies.
Over his career, Diego developed experience in basic and translational research. He has a strong scientific background in areas such as stroke, aging, microbiome, neurodegenerative disorders, misfolding protein disorders, and validation of targets for new therapeutic approaches.
Diego’s doctoral work, “Induction of IAPP amyloid deposition and associated diabetic abnormalities by a prion-like mechanism,” was selected by the Journal of Experimental Medicine as one of its publications of that year.
Diego earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Austral University in Valdivia, Chile. He received his doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences from Los Andes University, Santiago, Chile. Diego also completed a Master of Business and Administration with a concentration in Finances at Arkansas State University.
