The Final Minority Victors were: Kamala Harris (statewide), Jerry McNerney (Congress), Jeff Denham (State Senate), and Richard Pan (Assembly). • GEOGRAPHY: Denham is one of a VERY small number of elected officials in the modern era to hold elected offices in several different regions of the state. In 2002, Denham was elected to a Senate district including Madera, Merced, Monterey, San Benito, and Stanislaus counties (and from 2003-2004, Denham listed his hometown as Salinas and from 2005-2010, it was listed as Merced). In the 2010s, Denham of Turlock held a district including Inyo, San Joaquin, and Stanislaus counties.
