Ruby (Japanese: サファイア Sapphire) is a character from Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire who first appeared in Something Happened!! Let's Go After Pikachu!!. He is based on Brendan from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and is Red's rival.
Character
Ruby has a big interest in Pokémon from Kanto, especially Red's Pikachu. This is also shown in his house where he has a big collection of them.
History
Red leaves Pikachu and Clefairy alone for a few minutes which gave Ruby the chance to bargain a trade with Pikachu. Ruby distracted Clefairy by giving him loads of food. As Clefairy got occupied with the food, Ruby switched him for Treecko. Ruby than arrives in his house and has Pikachu join in with the other Pokémon from Kanto. Clefairy spies on him after Treecko told Red what happened. To get Pikachu back, Clefairy disguises half of himself as a man and half as a woman to distract Ruby while Tyrogue and Treecko break through the window to steal Pikachu back. When they did the plan, Ruby and Pikachu become surprised about this and the group managed to get Pikachu back and return Treecko to Ruby.
Pokémon
Treecko is the Pokémon that played a major role in Something Happened!!! Let's Go After Pikachu!!. It was first seen in a Poké Ball where it overheard Ruby trading it for Pikachu. When Red arrived, Treecko tells Red what happened to Pikachu and they go after him. Later, Treecko is returned to Ruby after retrieving the Pikachu.
None of Treecko's moves are known.
Jigglypuff was one of the Pokémon seen in the tea party when Ruby arrived with Pikachu at his house.
None of Jigglypuff's moves are known.

Ruby swapped Pikachu for Treecko (Treecko was inside its Poké Ball at the time). After Red found out what happened, he and his Pokémon work with Treecko to retrieve Pikachu. They were able to do so by Clefairy disguising himself as half of a woman and half of a man.
Trivia
- His and Sapphire's original names were switched in Chuang Yi's English translation of the manga, possibly to match the names of corresponding characters in Pokémon Adventures manga.
