Skill (Sleep)
Skills (Japanese: スキル skills) are one of the defining characteristics of Pokémon in Pokémon Sleep. There are two types of skills, Main Skills, which are unique to each Pokémon species, and Sub Skills, which are unique to each individual Pokémon.
Main Skills
Main Skills (Japanese: メインスキル main skills) are abilities that can be triggered whenever help is collected from a helper Pokémon. All Pokémon of the same species will always have the same Main Skill. Additionally, excluding branched Evolutions, all Pokémon in the same evolutionary line always have the same Main Skill.
Skills is one of the three possible Specialties a Pokémon species can have. Each Pokémon species has a different main skill chance, though the chance will always be much higher for Skill Specialists. The main skill chance for a Pokémon can be increased by having a Nature that increases main skill chance, or by having the Sub Skills Skill Trigger S or Skill Trigger M.
Main Skills can be leveled up, up to level 6, with main skills of higher levels having more potent effects. All Pokémon start with a main skill level of 1 when they are befriended, which can be leveled up in one of three ways:
- A Pokémon's main skill will level up by 1 when it is evolved.
- The Sub Skills Skill Level Up S and Skill Level Up M will increase a Pokémon's main skill level by 1 or 2 respectively.
- Using a Main Skill Seed on a Pokémon will increase its main skill level by 1.

Sub Skills
Sub skills are a set of five abilities learned by Pokémon as they reach levels 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100. Sub skills come in three rarities with the rarest being gold, the next level being colored blue and finally the most common skills are grey in color.
Using a Sub Skill Seed will increase the level of a random sub skill by one if it is able to be levelled up. There are three conditions that allow a sub skill to level up:
- A sub skill must be unlocked to level up
- Sub skills can't improve past the level that is currently available in the game, so a sub skill like Berry Finding S can't be levelled up to Berry Finding M as that skill doesn't exist yet
- A Pokémon may only have one of each sub skill in their current learnset, so if a Pokémon has the sub skills Inventory Up S and Inventory Up M, the lower levelled one will not be able to be upgraded.
If a Pokémon doesn't have any sub skills that meet these conditions, the use of the Sub Skill Seed will fail.
