Ultra Prism is the name given to the fifth main expansion of the Sun & Moon Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon dual expansions that make up the fifth expansion block in the Pokémon Card Game Sun & Moon Era. It is based on Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, featuring Generation VII Pokémon, an alternate Sinnoh region located in Ultra Space [1], and the Prism Pokémon Necrozma in both its Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma forms. The English expansion was released on February 2, 2018, while the Japanese expansions were released on December 8, 2017.
Ultra Prism introduced Prism Star, a classification of cards. Prism Star cards consisted of more powerful Basic Pokémon, Trainer cards, and Energy cards that players could only have one in each deck. They have black card border and rainbow tinges beside the card border and artwork window. The background of the card text area also featured the Prism Star symbol. The Prism Star rule box was located below the artwork. The Lost Zone was reintroduced, with Prism Star cards going to the Lost Zone when discarded. Fossil Pokémon were reverted to the original mechanic of evolving from a shared Trainer card, which could be played as a Basic Pokémon.
