Hi Hispalois. I'm using one of your images, File:Mold for bronze gear Han dinasty.JPG in the Wikipedia article Han Dynasty. Currently, that article is a Featured Article Candidate. On the Featured Article Candidate's page, someone has requested that the image have a note saying where the photograph was taken. At a museum, perhaps? And if so, which museum? If you could add that, that would be a great help. Thanks!--PericlesofAthens (talk) 00:05, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

No worries. The article passed as a featured article already. Thanks for getting back to me! It's better late than never. Cheers.--PericlesofAthens (talk) 21:11, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hej!

Hello! You have uploaded one or more pictures to the Danish 2011-WLM competition. The jury will soon begin to select the best pictures. While you wait you may want to check if there is a good description of the image/images and if you have turned on the e-mail feature, so we can reach you if you win. If you have uploaded downscaled versions consider uploading the originals. Whether you win or not thank you very much for your contribution! --MGA73 08:00, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license.

Gracias. Dorieo (homerízate) 11:49, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Alan (talk) 16:04, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Saludos. --Hispalois (talk) 04:38, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Saludos, --Elisardojm (talk) 08:04, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
--Millars (talk) 09:11, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
All medias supported by Wikimedia España.
--Hispalois (talk) 05:32, 31 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
También he hecho que Category:Images from Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Histórico y Category:Pliego coins sean subcategorías de Category:Other released material supported by Wikimedia España.
--Hispalois (talk) 01:54, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Reply

--Alan (talk) 15:38, 20 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Saludos! --Alan (talk) 19:54, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
--Alan (talk) 03:04, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Done Lo he conseguido con el VFC, reconozco que me la he jugado a liarla....  , pero solucionado. --Alan (talk) 03:15, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given

edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Alan (talk) 03:36, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Re: Nuevo lote de monedas

edit

--Hispalois (talk) 06:41, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Felicidades.
A ver si me lo he inventado yo. Salutem
--Parair (talk) 12:30, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 startet in Kürze

edit

Hallo Hispalois,

Are you currently in Belgium? If so, are you in proximity to Brussels, Antwerp, and/or Waterloo? WhisperToMe (talk) 03:48, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have the following image requests for Brussels:

Wezembeek-Oppem:

Tervuren:

Waterloo:

Antwerp:

If any images are not eligible for the Commons they may be uploaded to the English and/or French Wikipedias

Thank you! WhisperToMe (talk) 17:47, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes ENwiki accepts non-FOP images if it is the subject of the article and/or if there is significant commentary about the subject.

As for the larger background: I'm trying to get images of Japanese and international schools all over the world to illustrate various school articles I have written, to illustrate ethnic group articles (for example en:Japanese community of Brussels, or for that matter en:Japanese_community_of_London#Education which has an image of the Japanese school there), to illustrate articles on neighborhoods and communities, and to illustrate articles about Japanese life abroad (for example en:Nihonjin gakkō or fr:Écoles japonaises à l'étranger).

In my hometown Houston I often photograph schools, libraries, fire stations, municipal buildings, etc. to illustrate the community as a whole, as well as to show what it's like in various neighborhoods and in regards to the international community. For example when I wrote about en:River Oaks, Houston I made sure to include the neighborhood elementary school as well as the parks and libraries. I've done the same while abroad in France and China.

As for types of photos I generally prefer photos of the main gates/entrances/building with the name of the school visible. For example File:ShanghaiKoreanSchool.jpg is an image of the en:Shanghai Korean School, used to illustrate en:Korean community of Shanghai WhisperToMe (talk) 22:28, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Freedom of panorama is thankfully now in effect in Belgium. Anyway, are you still interested in taking these photos? WhisperToMe (talk) 04:52, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Media in Category:Alfonso X of Castile in coins

edit

Hi! To answer to your doubt, first, I only name the category that way because is more easier to categorise: at least for me is more easier to categorize searching the name of the king (to whom the coins belong, in this case "Alfonso X...") than searching "coins of...". You are redirected more easily to that category when you search for the name of the king. Second, you never know what is going to enter in that category. How can you guess that there's no coin with an effigy of the king? It may appear in the category in the future. Considering these points, please don't make any changes in that category. Mhmrodrigues (talk) 23:27, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi!
I agree in part with your arguments. So, I propose the following: creating a category named "Category: (a king)'s effigies in coins" inside the "Category:Coins of (a king)". Here the king referring to any monarch. What do you think? Mhmrodrigues (talk) 19:00, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello again!
I've already made the chnges you asked. If you don't mind, I prefer to keep the Spanish version of the name. If you agree with my proposal of editing, I'll apply my idea also in seal categories. Mhmrodrigues (talk) 19:15, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Hispalois, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences.

edit

Concorso Wiki Loves Monuments Italia 2018 (English version)

Grazie, Nemo 16:06, 12 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Miguel Ángel Gómez Naharro.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Wiki Loves Monuments France 2019

edit

Bonjour,

Wikimedia Italia

Gentile Hispalois,

Grazie ancora e a presto,

Lorenzo Losa (msg) 10:30, 25 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, you can find it on Wikisource: Open source, software libero e altre libertà. I'm also sure that there are plenty of good books in Spanish or English on this subject! - Laurentius (talk) 16:49, 20 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Medea-chart database on old nautical charts

edit

Hi, I’m sending this message to all participants of Commons Wikimaps listed here, so that I can be pretty sure it will get to some of you. I am the Principal Investigator of the ERC funded project Medea-Chart ([2]), hosted by the University of Lisbon, whose scientific objective is the study of the genesis, evolution and use of nautical charts from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. One of the visible outcomes of our project is the Medea-Chart database, aimed at storing and making available information and images of all extant manuscript nautical charts: [3]. Since the images of old maps and charts are now in the public domain and our database is open to all, I’m sure your project could benefit from it. The most obvious way would be to download from there all the images you are interested in, but I imagine you could use the tool for more sophisticated purposes. For now, I invite all of you to go there, browse the database, do geographical searches, read our “Chart of the Week” mini-articles, etc. You don’t even need to register for that. Registration is only required for those interested in downloading high resolution images or producing reports. Best wishes and have fun, Alvesgaspar (talk) 21:25, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tanks on battlefield maps of WWI are operational tanks, not destroyed tanks

edit

On this file: File:1918 trench map Sint Juliaan area detail tanks.jpg you wrote, "... The indications 'Tank(s)' indicate abandoned or destroyed tanks,..."

This map is an active battlefield map showing up-to-date defensive and offensive locations, including "current threats" intelligence obtained from field and aerial reconnaissance on the date published. These maps often have an already existing map upon which new military- related information, often in red color, is printed over the existing map. These temporary maps were continuously updated to help soldiers and field officers in military offensive operations- in real time. These maps were not history maps, although they now have historic value today. So, those tanks on this map, if the intelligence was correct, would have been operational tanks on that date, not "abandoned or destroyed tanks." Ooligan (talk) 17:08, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Ooligan: . Glad to meet someone who shares an interest in these topics. I photographed this map during a special visit to the Royal Army Museum in Brussels. The curators showed us, along with the map, several aerial photographs of the same area. Some of these photographs had annotations such as "Tanks abandonnés" (abandoned tanks in French). When compared against the map, those abandoned tanks corresponded to the "Tanks" signs on the map. So, at least in this particular case, I am pretty sure about the meaning of those indications. I would love to see some example of the application of real-time intelligence to WW1 maps as you describe it. However, I suspect this may have been beyond the capabilities of 1918 technology. Best regards. --Hispalois (talk) 21:34, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
