Image Tagging Image:Hurricane Danny- Damage.JPG
edit
Thanks for uploading Image:Hurricane Danny- Damage.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. skINMATE 21:32, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Allison 2001
editHi. I noticed for Image:TS Allison Texas flooding.jpg you had the date as 2006. I'm guessing that was a mistake and the photo was from 2001? (I don't recall another Allison hitting the coast in 2006.) Thanks, -- Infrogmation 02:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:07, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Help
editDear Andrew, please go to my Wikipedia talk page, thank you. You see, i made a unblock request which was decline. I am only 15 days before being unblocked and i need a chance to show that i can make a real concrete difference! I believe not just me but other users who i blocked need a chance, as blocking them is only making matters a bit worse, as they can't contribute and show they can change! I also believe administrators are slightly abusing their power of blocking!--Earth100 (talk) 14:13, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

- Comment There is, like Hurricanehink said, nothing special about this image. The subject of the image is a bit unclear, are we focused on the China Sea or the weak depression covering it. Image has artifacts in the water and clouds, and I had uploaded a similar image over a year ago. Supportstorm (talk) 11:33, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

- Info The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite captured this natural-color image of a patch of fog off the coast of Eastern China and Shanghai on April 15, 2013. The patch of fog was rapidly moving north east at that time, and ship wave cloud formations can be seen off the coast of Shanghai caused by air disturbed by small islands. A smaller fog patch also lingers off southern Shanghai's coast can be seen in the image. Besides Shanghai and fog, on the top left of the image, inter-linking towns can also be seen, along with yellow sediment in the Yellow sea and Eastern China sea.

How can you oppose?! It's in high definition and there's nothing blurry! You just can't oppose on such an interesting image, with no problems! Besides, is your computer screen large? Please change! --Earth100 (talk) 05:48, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- No, it is a boring image that doesn't look that high quality. You shouldn't be trying to canvass votes for your image, either. Hurricanehink (talk) 15:07, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Fine, it's like someone looking at a clear blue sky, while another says it's blurry and grey.--Earth100 (talk) 02:47, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

RfC: Third-party images published by the National Weather Service
editI've now reviewed 1,000 images uploaded under the rationales expressed in the PD-NWS template and requested deletion of several.
The arguments for deletion, and to keep, are now following repetitive, predictable patterns and it would greatly help all involved if we could centralise discussion and obtain some wider community input.
Therefore, I have opened an RfC to gather opinions. Apologies in advance: it's long and detailed, but is frankly nothing compared to the words and time expended by all parties up to this point. Probably the most crucial issue revolves around how we interpret a general disclaimer published at weather.gov (Q.1 in the RfC).
Your advice is greatly appreciated! --Rlandmann (talk) 10:39, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
