Image missing permission

Hi, Yuval, thanks for marking Image:CMU kiosk 1.jpg as missing permission. However, I must call you attention to the fact that you warned the upload bot, instead of me. It's not his fault, lol. I'd like to ask you what can I do in the original image on en wikipedia. I don't know how to mark images there, can you help me on that? The text in the user page was automatic, I guess next time I'll try to seek the user too ;-)

I've noticed that the images from Wikipedia was taken from http://www.arcdesignconsulting.com where there's no evidence those image are free. en:user:Adzaroo wrote that en:Image:CMU kiosk 1.jpg was taken by "Carnegie Mellon students" and yet he claims that "as the copyright holder of this work, he release it into the public domain", which seems to be a false claim.

What I suggest you to do, is to send an email to the adam@arcdesignconsulting.com (or whoever hold the copyrights in http://www.arcdesignconsulting.com/ and ask them to fill the OTRS email, and if they agree, either upload the images yourself, or edit the text to say that the images were from the web site.

Hum, sorry, I didn't read this message until today :s

But anyway, I don't think it's necessary to contact them. It's almost certain that the image is in copyright infringement, and even if it is not, after a little work I managed to compile a fairly reasonable amount of images to illustrate the concept, so the image may be deleted without much harm to the projects. Hi Yuval Y, I've already left him a message asking for proper permission following the OTRS procedure. I was thinking of deleting the images as obviously Marteshl is not the owner of the copyright of Fanny's paintings. However, I thought that if deleted, the author could not possibly reference the images so that I decided to leave all of them but with a proper tag (and yes, if in seven days no proper permission is received, all of them will be deleted). Private image collections and the like are generally not wanted. Wikimedia Commons is not a web host for e.g. private party photos, self-created artwork without educational purpose and such.

As far as I know, screenshots are in most cases copyrighted. I can't believe you've drew those images yourself, but you've probably done a screen capture. I've checked the en:Lineage II whereen:Image:Shot00011.jpg is tagged as a screenshot. Furthermore, when I checked the site's Legal Notice, I haven't found any free license for the screenshots from the game. If you can prove I'm wrong, I'd be happy to restore the pictures. Just check Lineage 2's official website, http://www.lineage2.com/ , check all the screenshots that the players have done, check the message board http://boards.lineage2.com/ubbthreads.php and see that there's a section made by the owners of L2 to allow the players post their screenshots. Sites as

L2 Guru http://www.l2guru.com/forum/ , ign's vault http://l2vault.ign.com/ , and stratics http://lineage2.stratics.com/ wich are sites visited by every l2 player in the world, even L2 owners. These sites can show screenshots made by anybody..... L2 screensshots doesn't need permission to be used. It doesn't matter what you're intend to do with the images. The licence tag are not for you, but for other users. If you tag the picture as {{Cc-by-3.0}} for example, anyone can make copyies and sell them, for example. That's why any image that is not valid for commecial use, is not valid in Commons. Even in the English Wikipedia, where they allow en:Fair use images, they somehow don't permit images that are noncommercial.

Fair use images are defiantly not allowed neither here nor in Es.wiki. Since the wikipedias in español and português using only Commons to upload files, there's no option to upload images which are not free. Please read the f* manual. Yuval Y § Chat § 20:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm afraid it's not enough. The spanish wikipedia and commons don't allow any fair use images, therefore they can't be considered as a fan site, you don't upload files for using in the Wikipedia or Commons only - actually anyone can use the images with the limitation written in the license. I suggest you to send them the images you wanted to upload, and ask them if they allow you to upload them as Free content. If they agree, ask them to fill in a form like this:

עד כמה שזכור לי, חופש פנורמה מאפשר לצלם תמונות בשטח ציבורי של יצירות בעלות זכויות יוצרים, בתנאי שהן מוצבות במקום שבו כל אחד יכול לראות / לצלם. כיוון שבגאורגיה זכות זו אינה קיימת, הרי שהתמונה של הקיר היא יצירה נגזרת (כעת נשאר לתרגם את Freedom of panorama). למשל, את התמונה הזו דוד שי צילם בזכות חופש הפנורמה, והגדיר אותה כתמונה חופשית, אם כי אני צריך לברר אם ניתן להעלות תמונה כזו לוויקישיתוף. בנתים מצאתי מידע באנגלית על Freedom of panorama וגם מדריך וויקיפדיה או מדריך וויקישיתוף. הבעיה (כרגיל) שצריך למצוא מי שיתרגמו את המאמרים האלה.

Pentax Press Release images

Hey, concerning the two images that were quickly deleted yesterday: press release images are supposed to be public, aren't they ? I don't know where you found the "(C)2008 PENTAX Corporation All Rights Reserved", it is surely not on the pentax press release website (http://www.pentaxtech.com/Press/pressfiles.html). As a matter of fact those images weren't even published in 2008. I downloaded them at the end of 2006 when the camera just got out of the market.

I just wrongly uploaded an image with the "(c) Pentax" mark on it, which was from a subsidiary website of the corporation. The final two versions are, though, official press release images which are all-over the web. They are certainly not copyrighted !

The copyright is from the site, and I've followed the rule "When there's no permission, the image is copyrighted"... I suggest you to ask in Commons talk:Licensing - I'm not the only admin, and I might be wrong... Yuval Y § Chat § 15:43, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
