English: Kompang is one of the traditional Javanese percussion instruments in Gamelan (traditional Javanese instrumental ensemble of Indonesia) originated from Ponorogo region in East Java. The term kompang itself is derived from Javanese word: komplang (ꦏꦺꦴꦩ꧀ꦥꦁ) which means 'hollow', this refers to the shape of the kompang itself which has a hollow part (on the back that is not covered with skin) so that it can produce loud sounds when hitted.
Jawa: Kompang yaiku salah siji piranti ing gamelan sing asale saka Ponorogo ing Jawa Wetan. Jenenge piranti iki dijupuk saka istilah basa Jawa: 'komplang' (ꦏꦺꦴꦩ꧀ꦥꦁ) sing mujudake bentuke kompang iku dewe (ing bagian mburi sing ora ditutupi kulit) saengga bisa ngasilake swara kang banter yen ditabuh.
Bahasa Indonesia: Kompang adalah salah satu jenis alat musik pukul atau perkusi yang termasuk kedalam perangkat gamelan yang berasal dari daerah Ponorogo di Jawa Timur, Indonesia.
