Hello, I am Kadı. My home-wiki is trwiki but I am active in various wikis. I serve as an administrator in Turkish Wikivoyage, patroller in Trwiki. In Commons, I am a filemover and patroller. I usually tag copyvios and images which are out of project's scope. I'm familiar with Commons' policies, I also have adminship experience. I apply for this responsibility for the development of Commons and full combating of policy violations. Best regards, Kadı Message 17:52, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Oppose when I check his contributions, I see an inapropiate rename request/action against the uploader's will. There are literally millions of images in Commons, no reason to stuck with a naming discussion and overwhelm users ith those kind of discussions, I believe. Having an admin statues "may" be used to force those actions on users. I revise his recent contributions to have an idea on his point of view to the project, but all I see is uploading files, renaming files and nominating files for deletion. Here, he claims that the image is "unencyclopedic" hich is clearly encyclopedic, even on use in various projects. Another Dr with an invalid rationale, and the file is kept. Since I don't have many data to review and make comments on his level of knowledge on the project (can't see his ideas on discussions a lot, for example), but hat I have doesn't really convince me. I wish the best for Commons!--Nanahuatl (talk) 23:59, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @Nanahuatl. Thank you for your comments. First of all, I need to ask a question: Did you read all of the discussion about Selamsiz house image? Did you read @4nn1l2's arguments? Do you know a historical place in Istanbul called Selamsiz house?
Second, your arguments are valid for the images which are about sexuality. I understood my mistake. The discussions were 7 months ago. If you show new examples, this would be more beneficial. Best, Kadı Message 05:55, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I only want to make a comment the part I followed before (Selamsız house file). I am against to @Nanahuatl on this. What is the user's fault if the discussion drags on for correcting a misleading information? To keep the discussion short, should we stop chasing up the correct information? •  Destek Commons has not had any Turkish-speaking admins for a long time, despite the relatively high volume of Turkey and Turkish-related files and discussions. Having a native speaker of Turkish as an admin (who can close the discussions and such) will definitely be an asset to Commons. 4nn1l2 (talk) 06:12, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Destek The user has been working effectively and meticulously on both the Turkish Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons for a long time. I believe that as an administrator, user will also do useful activities. --Kurmanbek (talk) 12:58, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Support, kadı is a hard-working user in commons, turkish wikipedia and turkish wikivoyage. i would love to see him/her as an administrator here. good luck! --Zemxer (talk) 06:41, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose Multiple problems with speedy tagging in the past year, e.g. File:İYTE Teknopark Entrance.jpg (2008 upload with no evidence that the external website predates the Wikimedia upload), File:Panoramic view of Kurtboğazı Dam (cropped-dam).jpg (COM:SCOPE is not a valid reason for speedy outside of very specific criteria such as G10 and F10, neither of which is applicable to a photo of a dam), and File:Azərbaycan Nar İstehsalçıları və İxracatçıları Assosiasiyasının logotipi.jpg (restoration of a speedy tag after it was already declined by an admin). Overall, the variety of policy misunderstandings gives me a lack of confidence that they would correctly implement policy if made an admin. I would like to see a track record of at least a year of mostly error-free deletion nominations/taggings before I would consider supporting their candidacy. -- King of ♥ 00:02, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@King of Hearts, thanks for your comments but after your warnings I have corrected my mistakes. We are all human beings, even homer sometimes nods :) Sincerely, Kadı Message 04:09, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Support I do think that Commons could use a Turkish-speaking admin. The deletion issues underlined above are mostly 6+ months old, which I believe is "enough in the past"; though the re-adding of the speedy tag after an admin had declined it gives me pause. I do think that the "inapropiate rename request" is not an argument, as by now multiple Turkish speaking users have noted that the name is wrong. It was a controversial request with arguments from both sides, but picking a side is not a sign of not being able to handle the tools. ~StyyxHeya! 12:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Support good response to my question below, and more representation from areas outside EU in the seat of admins. Second in motion to the input of Styyx. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 09:53, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose because of the issues above - No user should have a file moved against their will - YM declined the rename (via discussion) so that should've been end of discussion, The inappropriate copyvio tagging of files is another red flag so as such I hold no trust or confidence in this user at this time. 2+ years is old, 6+ months is not! - These issues all happened this year so like KoH I too would like to see a mostly error-free year before supporting. –Davey2010Talk 22:03, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @Davey2010, thanks for your vote. Understanding capacity of people are different. Some people learn in 6 months some 6 years. As I indicated that in my previous answers, I learned and corrected all of my mistakes. I want to work for commons as an admin, my first aim is to improve and contribute. Sincerely, Kadı Message 04:21, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Kadı, We all make mistakes we're only human after all .... however incorrectly copyvio tagging files and wanting to move a file against someones will .... and then running for adminship all in the same year to me shows no forward thinking and no understanding of the deep actions you've done, Of course that's just my opinion but that's the way I see it.
By all accounts you're still a newbie here with only 11 months of experience here so mistakes such are yours are bound to happen. Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:37, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Davey2010, Did you read all of the arguments? Do you know Turkish? The house’s name is not Selamsiz house, @Karakalem requested renaming and I accepted it. After that, we discussed. Now, the file’s name is not changed, that’s okay uploader’s decision is significant. You can see in discussions, I said okay when I read the other’s arguments. My main goal is to serve for community as I am doing in trwikivoyage (sysop). Thanks for your vote, I respect you and your comments. Sincerely, Kadı Message 14:55, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We're not rehashing everything again, I opposed for valid reasons and that's it, Have a great day. –Davey2010Talk 14:58, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Support Kadı is one of the proactive user on Commons. He seems to have mastered licensing policies (there are some exceptions, of course) and wants to take responsibility for SD and COM:DEL. I believe that he will share the load in the team, including other admins. The potential to answer the questions of the volunteers from the Turkish Wikipedia and the role of reminding the deficiencies about the uploaded files can also be seen as his candidacy' advantages. Of course, he has a lot to learn from other admins. Good luck. Maurice Flesier (talk) 15:00, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • voting  Support specifically because Kadı had the correct understanding of com:rename -- criterion 2 (ambiguous title) and criterion 3 (error) are superior to criterion 1 (uploader's request).--RZuo (talk) 15:07, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Oppose based mainly on the candidate’s conduct at this RfA, which I chose to focus on because it is recent and verifiable. With regard to the disputed rename of a file, the candidate has persistently focused on the fact that the existing name of the file is not the actual name of the subject. They have not demonstrated an understanding of other arguments (including that the name of the file doesn’t need to be an actual name – it can be a description). They have also suggested that other users have not read the whole discussion or do not know the language involved, which may be true but is not something to focus on now (maybe ever). The candidate has displayed this argumentative attitude despite behaving better at the time of the original dispute (they accepted a rename request, the uploader objected to it, the candidate refrained from taking further action and tried to engage in discussion at various forums), which they could have used as a defence here.
Also oppose based on inappropriate speedy deletion nominations, as recently as 3 months ago. Brianjd (talk) 14:39, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

  •  Question It appears there are conflicting closures regarding deletion nominations that involve freedom of panorama in Türkiye (refer to Category:Turkish FOP cases). FOP in Türkiye is generally understood to be limited, while covering all types of public works and art like monuments and murals, these must be situated in one of the three types of public spaces: streets, avenues, and squares. Some photos like those at COM:Deletion requests/File:Hazar Kağan.JPG have been deleted on grounds that the depicted public artistic works are not located in any one of the three allowed places, but others like those at COM:Deletion requests/File:Barney Rubble Harikalar Diyari Flintstones 06019 nevit.jpg resulted to kept because other users insist parks are akin to streets, avenues, or squares. 1) What is your stand regarding this conflicting opinions on FOP in Türkiye? 2) Should several photos of similar Turkish works are nominated for deletion, how will you respond? JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 10:04, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JWilz12345, hello. Thanks for this question. Unfortunately, Turkey's law system can be perceived differently by people. It has also been observed that different decisions were made in the Turkish legal system for the same incidents. Anyway, this is significant here: "fine arts permanently placed on public streets, avenues or squares" According to the law, we can upload fine arts images which were taken in public streets, avenues or squares, and we cannot upload works that are not visible to everyone from the outside. For example, an user can upload a graffiti's image but can not upload a painting's photo which was taken in an exhibition.
To conclude, we must proceed on the basis of the law, so the images of fine arts' which were not taken in streets etc needs to be deleted. Best regards, Kadı Message 10:18, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • zkarapatlak, hello. I want you to be wikimedia commons admin. Good Luck. Kadı Zkarapatlak (talk) 09:45, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don’t think I should vote in an RfA without investigating the relevant issues in more depth, but I almost want to vote ‘oppose’ for the renaming thing alone. The candidate keeps fixating on the specific name at issue here, and has not demonstrated improved understanding of the relevant policy. More importantly, they have not demonstrated good dispute resolution skills. Brianjd (talk) 16:22, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Brianjd, We can have different opinions. In the discussion we fixed the issue. You can see that the name did not changed. After the incident, I did not do a mistake about renaming again. Thank you for your comment. Sincerely, Kadı Message 16:29, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
