Purpose of needing filemover to rename files.

VKras, files (that's different from pages of other namespaces) can be linked by very many wikis (wikimedia projects and others as well). If trolls or vandals or even good-faith-editing users moved them around there might hundreds of links from wikis to be adjusted. And subsequently fixed again if the file is moved back. Abuse has to prevented as well, so that a file can't be renamed to "Jim is an idiot.jpg" or the like. I think it's a good rule requiring a specially granted right to do that. Hallo Achim55 danke für deinen guten Tipp, so gehts sehr schnell. Weisst du vielleicht ob es eine Möglichkeit gibt den File Namen der Foto Datei nachträglich zu ändern?! Hallo EinDao, Kategorien-Seiten kannst du selber umbenennen: Oben auf 'Mehr' → 'Verschieben' klicken, neuen Kategorienamen eingeben, fertig. Aufpassen wegen Tippfehlern, sonst muss man peinlicherweise nochmal verschieben. Dateien (File:...) umbenennen geht im Prinzip genauso, aber dazu braucht man eine spezielle Berechtigung (um Vandalismus vorzubeugen und weil ein Bild ja in vielen Wikipedias eingebunden sein kann), da gibst du halt den gewünschten Dateinamen ein, und ein Dateiverschieber führt dann die Umbenennung durch. Das dauert in der Regel nicht länger als 2 Stunden. Kategorieseiten zu löschen ist auch nicht schwierig, das ist aber hier generell nur zulässig, wenn eine Kategorie leer ist, also keine Dateien oder Unterkategorien enthält. Da schreibst du oben auf die Kategorieseite {{speedy|empty}}, und ein Admin wird sie dann löschen, dauert auch meist höchsten ein paar Stunden. Speedy ist das Schnelllöschverfahren, weil in einem solchen Fall ja keine Löschdiskussion notwendig ist. Gruß, --Achim (talk) 17:21, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

Boutique Designers, maybe you are not aware that accounts on Wikipedia/Wikimedia projects are anonymous ones. By now there is no account User:Jackson Hedden. I could create it loading up a bunch of images. So there's no proof that I am (not) Jackson Hedden. Therefore in case an uploaded image has been published previously on the web a special procedure called OTRS is required for to confirm that an image not has been 'stolen' from the web by anyone. As most of the photographs you loaded up are professional ones keeping them is no problem. Please add the photographer's names to the "author" fields and send the required OTRS e-mail. I already have tried to communicate with this user but it appears nothing I say is getting through him. He still continues to upload copyrignted files and out of scope files form Facebook and other external sources. He is also trying to create his autobiography at here and English Wikipedia. I do not trust that his uploaded files are his "own works". As you might have noticed, he also has a sockpuppet. An indefinite or a long time block might be warranted here. We do not know if they are in use on non-wikimedia wikis or on other web sites. Therefore a redirect will not be deleted if the redirected file was uploaded more than 7 days ago. --Achim (talk) 15:14, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

@VKras: Achim is right. Moving files break hotlinking (even if you leave a redirect behind!). It's better to check files using a search engine (TinEye/Google images or both) before moving files. They can find duplicates and hotlinked pages. But it every website gets indexed by search engines. Which is why, you should be more careful when moving old files. There is no specific criteria to speedy delete files that are younger than 7 days since they have been uploaded. If additional criterias are met, they can be speedy deleted. Otherwise, deletion request should be filed. But you'll need to provide clear rationale per COM:Deletion policy. Please read COM:CSD to learn more about speedy deletion. VKras, the 7-day-rule has been invented for uploaders who do recognise that they made a mistake when uploading a file. If it's been the wrong image it can be deleted, if it's been the wrong file name it can be moved suppressing the redirect, as I just did on File:Geminiano Giacomelli 1740.jpg → File:Geminiano Giacomelli after 1740.jpg. --Achim (talk) 08:25, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

DejaVu, in this case I'm AGF. The uploader didn't hide the name of the photographer and it is a press photo. So there is a real chance to get an OTRS confirmation. FlyingLogos, thanks for notifying, I deleted that page, too. Your user page looked like advertising. in addition, all such pages that contain outgoing web links are detected and listed automatically because of suspected advertising. Every month we have to delete hundreds of spamming attempts. Your case is a borderline one: Your account might be blocked: Accounts with names of companies or institutions are not allowed here (there are a few confirmed exceptions). FlyingLogos, yes, you're right, I already noticed that. The filenames have to be changed as well as the file descriptions containing "please visit us at https://quincemedia.com". Paul Atherton photos with possible license issues

There have been several photos uploaded to Commons by user(s) self-identifying as Paul Atherton (or by "Amanda Paul" who elsewhere identifies as Atherton.) Atherton's article is currently under discussion in en-wiki.[1]

The standing portrait was uploaded by Paul Atherton as "own work" but metadata shows it is the copyrighted work of a professional photographer named Darren Fletcher. Similarly, according to metadata for the Piccadilly Circus photo, it is copyright by someone named Steve Forrest of "Insight-Visual." I do not know how to proceed but this raises questions about the license of these photos. Can you advise where this question should be raised? Thanks! HouseOfChange, as deletion requests are discussion pages as well it would be appropriate to tag the mentioned files for deletion, regardless of the outcome of the DRs. If you haven't already done go to Special:Preferences → Gadgets and activate 'AjaxQuickDelete' and 'QuickDelete', then you will have at the left of a deletable page a link 'Nominate for deletion' that makes it a lot easier. Vielleicht lerne ich letzteres noch, du kannst das Bild aber auch gerne löschen, dann stelle ich es mit dem upload wizzard nochmal ordentlich ein. Viele Grüße M. K. Hallo ArchaiOptix, du kannst auf allen Diskussionsseiten Kommentare (bitte keine Romane) schreiben oder Fragen stellen, dafür sind sie ja da. Hier ist es üblich, auf der Seite zu antworten, auf der man gefragt, zitiert oder benachrichtigt wurde. Ich hätte das Bild nicht gelöscht, aber hier auf Commons gilt eine 7-Tage-Frist (außer bei offensichtlichen Urheberrechtsverletzungen, Beleidigungen usw.), innerhalb derer noch nachgebessert werden kann, wenn eine Löschung zu befürchten ist. Nichtverstehen der Löschung einer Beschreibung was Taijiqigong ist

Hallo Achim55,

die erste Löschung versteh ich, da ich einen Link zu meiner Seite hatte, aber nachdem ich sachlich bgeschrieben habe, was Taijiqigong ist, wie Taijiqigong entstanden ist und ich die Zusammenhänge mit Taiji & Qigong erklärt und Wikiinterne Links zu Taiji und Qigong gesetzt habe, kann ich die Löschung nicht nachvollziehen.

Taijiqigong ist keine Erfindung von mir, sondern eine alte chinesische Bewegungskunst.

Bitte erkläre mir doch, mit welcher Begründung die zweite Variante, in der ich Taijiqigong sachlich erklärt habe, gelöscht wurde.

eben, hier auf Commons gibt es gar keine inhaltlichen Textbeiträge, höchstens in minimalem Umfang auf Galerieseiten. Man kann sich selbst natürlich auf den Benutzerseiten vorstellen. Weil Commons ein multilinguales Projekt ist, wäre es z. B. sinnvoll, auf der Benutzerseite anzugeben, welche Sprachen man versteht. --Achim (talk) 19:20, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

Dettmannsdorf - Dudendorf

Hallo Achim55, ich würde gerne 3 historische Bilder in die Commons einbinden. Entweder allg. unter Dettmannsdorf oder unter https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Gutshaus_Dudendorf?uselang=de. In der zweiten Variante, wäre es aber sinnvoll, den Titel Gutshaus Dudendorf um das Gut zu erweitern, z.B. Gut und Gutshaus Dudendorf. Dann können dort Bilder sowohl des Gutes als auch des Gutshauses eingefügt werden. Was ist deine Meinung? Könntest Du ggf. den Titel erweitern? So ne Überraschung! H., kannst du das nochmal in anderem Format hochladen? Am besten ist .jpg für Fotos und .png oder .svg für Grafiken. PDF wird normalerweise nur für mehrseitige Scans von Büchern oder Dokumenten genommen. Nochwas: Geh mal auf Special:Preferences → "Helferlein" und mach bei "HotCat" das Häkchen rein, speichern nicht vergessen. Danach hast du auf den Seiten ganz unten bei den Kategorien die Möglichkeit, mit (-) eine Kat zu entfernen, mit (+) eine hinzuzufügen oder mit (±) eine zu ändern. So kannst du dann bei deinen Uploads über (+) z. B. "Gut Dudendorf" oder sonstwas hinzufügen. Gruß, --Achim (talk) 16:51, 4 February 2020 (UTC)

Ich habe jetzt vier Bilder hochgeladen. Hat gut geklappt. Bei einem Foto habe ich das Original abfotografiert. Meinen Text kennt er als Quelle nicht. Keine Ahnung was man eintragen soll. Ich bin in diesen Dinge kein Fachmann. Meine Aussage über den Stil stützt sich auf Aussagen von Fachleuten die es so bewerten. Auf alle Fälle kann man nun sehr gut die Veränderungen nachvollziehen. Hallo Achim55 Ich hoffe ich bin hier richtig, um mit dir eine Diskussion zu starten. Ich bin noch neu hier, da ich den Namen nicht ändern konnte, war der Gedanken, den Betrag zu löschen und mit dem richtigen Namen wieder einzusetzen. Der Name De Punt 10 kommt daher, es ist auf der Bunkerroute "De Punt"das 10. Objekt. Da das definitiv kein Regelbau 201 ist, wollt ich das richtigstellen. Moin Thorsten, ein falscher Dateiname ist kein Problem und erfordert keinen neuen Upload. Klickst du oben auf "Mehr" → "Verschieben" und gibst den richtigen Dateinamen ein. Why tag spambot user pages?

I am looking to understand why we are tagging spambot user pages. Is there are a value that you see? To me, I see just some of the spamobts tagged and having user pages that need exploring rather than a nice neat redlink.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:11, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

billinghurst, you mean pages like this one? Well, such ones I tagged rarely. It's a bit for myself having checked that as on Commons unfortunately pages like this one provide less info (I often didn't notice the small 'yes') than the same page on meta. In addition, I'm using m:User:Achim55/global.css and m:User:Achim55/global.js for marking redirects, disambigs, people I avoid to discuss with, and even blocks, but I didn't find out how to mark globally locked accounts. You are right, I won't tag in the future because redlinks have of course some benefits as well. --Achim (talk) 12:36, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
