I am
I am sure there is some users enjoy deleting.--Sonia Sevilla (talk) 19:28, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm sure there's some who enjoy uploading copyvios too. INeverCry 20:17, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- a Pessimistic view is so far from reality, 99% of my uploading is exactly mine pictures in public domain. u dont see them?but u can see 1% that was just a mistake in uploadin(drivers and files in every pc can be Chaotic and confusing)--Sonia Sevilla (talk) 21:22, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

- there is no greater insult than describing a user who don't KNOW as a UNTRUST user. i will talk about u with anoter administrator.--Sonia Sevilla (talk) 21:41, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- I removed autopatrol from your account because of the volume of copyvios you've uploaded since early February, when I originally gave it to you. COM:FOP#Iran has to be respected by uploaders and enforced by administrators. INeverCry 22:22, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- when you give to me again?--Sonia Sevilla (talk) 12:32, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- You'll have to go a while without having any of your uploads deleted. INeverCry 17:07, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Category:Icizzle
I don't think any photos in the category are original work uploaded by the artist/director. This one File:Dog IDS Nick Mugshot.jpg is sold here. All of the photos were uploaded by the same user and look like they were "internet grabs". Thanks for help, We hope (talk) 20:58, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Postage stamps
Regarding postage stamps and currency is there a one-page explanation of which ones are and which ones aren't? I saw this one and confused myself trying to find a simple answer. Thanks Ellin Beltz (talk) 20:37, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Wide variety of styles
Hi again, this gallery seems to have too many styles, dates, types of images and such to me. What do you think? Ellin Beltz (talk) 02:01, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm. A lot of those look like they come from a Polish/Israeli organization of some kind. Most or all the titles and names are in Polish. It might be better to have a Polish-speaking admin/OTRS member like @Jarekt: or @Odder: take a look at these. INeverCry 03:20, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- @Ellin Beltz: They definitely look a bit fishy. Have you tried searching for some of the files in Google Images or TinyEye to see if they are available somewhere else than on Commons? Pinging @Masur who is also a native speaker of Polish and who's already had some experience with the user in question (per User talk:Bialysnieg). odder (talk) 08:30, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
The Chace has begun..
I have an odd feeling this may be your favourite blue sock..--Stemoc (talk) 14:53, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- We can keep an eye on the account, but I'm not seeing a direct obvious connection as yet. The focus on {{PD-US-no notice}} images isn't something I've seen before, especially with a long-lived sock like MyCanon. INeverCry 17:09, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
Deleted Photos
I received a notification that several of my photos were deleted from commons after another editor tagged them as not being my own work. I assure you that they are and can even provide the high(er) resolution originals. They were taken over a period of several years with two different cameras. This is why the resolutions might not have matched-up. Is there anything I can do to have them restored? Constablequackers (talk) 12:11, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- You should post an undeletion request. INeverCry 15:53, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- Will do. Thanks for the info. Constablequackers (talk) 10:06, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi INeverCry, I noticed these files were deleted after the redlinks were removed from the Loonie article on EN. Could you tell me if there was enough information included here that they could be restored/copied to EN/re-deleted (and I'll add a FUR), or should I just look to find/upload new files locally at EN? Thanks! Resolute (talk) 00:02, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- He didn't give any source info, just "own work", which looks to be false, as these are professionally done. Have a look at this and this. INeverCry 01:19, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you. These would be under crown copyright even if one took their own photos, so I'll look to upload a new set locally. Cheers! Resolute (talk) 13:26, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
Few recent copyvio deletions
Hi! You recently deleted few images listed below with your deletion summary as "Copyright violation, see Commons:Licensing". I, now, can't see what the deletion reason was actually presented. But seeing that all requests were placed by User:Boseritwik am guess the reason was "license clearly states ...with the explicit exception of images from non-Indian events, film sets, screenshots..." He has been on mass-copyvio-tagging-spree with this reason that clearly is not a valid one for "speedy deletion". The phrase "film sets" was added in the license through this edit on 19 October by User:SpacemanSpiff. If am not mistaken, he doesn't have OTRS access and such modification to license might not fully be based on what the OTRS actually says. Boseritwik has tagged plenty more images with same reason and i have contested the copyvio and given the reason on respective talk pages. Please suggest what needs to be done with below mentioned already deleted images.

Looks like a product shoot
This gallery looks like a product shoot for a shoe advertisement. I can't see that any of the photos are in use. How odd? Ellin Beltz (talk) 05:21, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- Meant as a promo no doubt, but many of these are high quality and good as stock images, illustrating flip-flops, couples, women, etc. Many but not all. Atleast they don't have watermarks. Some category work is needed, and probably a few need to be sent to DR, but most of these have value. I'll likely take another look thru these soon. It's almost bedtime right now. - Have you seen who this is on Wikipedia? This would be the most decorated sock ever! In any event, the account hasn't edited here in over a year, so all we can really do is tag anything that's a copyvio and wonder about the rest. INeverCry 18:24, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
- I poked them all and they trace back to various flickr accounts, moves from Wiki and etc. One had lost its original posting on Flickr, but the move from Wikipedia said it had been checked by an admin and found to be ok on that day. The only two I found that were marked "all rights reserved" had OTRS #s, so I'm going to assume it's all ok. I'm just not as certain what constitutes "flickrwashing" as some others, so I keep asking. Ellin Beltz (talk) 18:59, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Flickrwashing mostly involves new Flickr accounts, usually with a small number of uploads and/or the uploads are either blatant copyvios, or the Flickr account isn't reasonably likely to be the source/author of the images. These Flickrwashing accounts are usually pretty easy to spot, so you shouldn't have to dig too deep to find them. Now and then you get someone who knows what they're doing. As for Chace Watson, you're dealing with a long-term abuse sockmaster (5+ years) who has previously obtained licence-reviewer status here, so he's a relatively challenging guy to deal with. Here and especially on en.wiki, many intelligent, long-time editors have ended up banned/blocked: I would figure a good number of these people are still highly active under sock accounts, often with advanced user rights, and, dare I say it, a few of them are even likely to be admins. This is a routine placeholder image, but unlike most placeholders (e.g. File:Front.jpg or File:Logo.jpg) it's not a redirect to File:Name.jpg. I recently requested at COM:AN/B that it be redirected there (after a housekeeping deletion of the image) and then protected against reuploading, but it got protected without any changes to the image. Could you please delete the image, restore current protection, and then redirect it? Nyttend (talk) 04:39, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- From looking at the deleted revisions, it looks like Magog the Ogre already did that on March 5, but that the image was then deleted by Fastily in a move of some sort, and then a few days later, protected, etc, as it now is, by Denniss. It's a bit confusing. INeverCry 04:59, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- I turned down the deletion, but I decided not to make a scene after Fastily deleted it. I ask (again) that Fastily slow review his admin actions before completing them. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:53, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

Speedy
I haven't done a speedy yet, but I think this page might qualify File:Scroll-decree announcing the appointment Sangye Gyatso.jpeg. I nominated it here and the uploader has a pile of other images culled from (c) websites. He seems very unclear on the concept. This image he has now credited both with a (c) to the photographer and also with a PD-art tag. I would really like to just hit DEL since it's obviously now a copyvio, but I don't know the rules and limits by which to do that to an image I nominated. Thanks for all your help as always! Ellin Beltz (talk) 18:58, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- I've deleted it. In cases like this, you can tag it for CSD, but I wouldn't advise you to ever close your own DR. If/when you see obvious copyvios you can either tag them for CSD or, in blatant cases, just delete them (you can notify the uploader afterward, to atleast leave a record of their copyvio upload/s, in case they continue to upload copyvios and a block becomes needed). I do a lot of speedy tagging, but when I see a Britney Spears CD cover, or a pic sourced to google, I often just zap them. As a new admin, you may be better off just tagging images for CSD until you're comfortable with the the deletion process. Images that are very likely copyvios or blatant copyvios should be tagged for speedy deletion rather than DR. INeverCry 19:25, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
I think it may fall below TOO, and it was used in a Wikipedia article. It was marked as "no permission" so I started a DR for discussion of whether it could be kept even without permission. Rybec (talk) 03:17, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- I restored Commons:Deletion requests/File:LUDO-ZOUZOUS.gif so that the DR can run its course. I also put in my 2 cents. INeverCry 03:30, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Removing empty categories
Is this something that we can just do, or is there a process to it. Example would be this category which is now empty. Thanks! Ellin Beltz (talk) 21:03, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- I usually just delete empty cats on sight. You can look at Commons:Deletion_policy#Categories for the policy, but admins tagging empty cats for speedy is a waste of time. I've deleted this one. INeverCry 21:15, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
you deleted this file even though the website clearly states it is PD and I mentioned that? Mdupont (talk) 05:24, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- I think the issue here was that the statement "You may use any of our material free of charge for any reason" isn't a clear enough statement of exactly what free license this would place material under, i.e. it doesn't explicitly allow derivative works and commercial use (see COM:L). If you disagree or just want a second opinion, you can post an undeletion request at COM:UDEL. INeverCry 16:02, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

More from the PD-US tagger
- File:Joseph Schenck to Herbert Brennan.jpg There's a copy of this one not signed with a copyright mark for Spurr, an LA photographer. Neither of these are dated, so it's a good question if this was before 1923 or not.
- File:Daphne Pollard signed.jpg eBay with no idea re: dating.
- File:MCINTYRE AND HEATH 1910.jpg This is likely 1910 as noted but we don't know if it was published then or just part of someone's scrap book.

Deletion Appeal for File:FComite_-_Headshot.jpg and File:Doctor Florence Comite (Office).jpg
Can you please let me know when these files can be restored? The required permissions have been sent via email and are also posted here: Commons:UR#File:FComite_-_Headshot.jpg_File:Doctor_Florence_Comite_.28Office.29.jpg Thank you Juda S. Engelmayer (talk)
- The link to the permission shows me a statement that still limits/restricts commercial use. Images can't have restricted licenses regarding commercial usage. INeverCry 23:37, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- If we’re talking about the “Print Rights“ document, it also implies the licence it grants to be conditional on a purchase from the issuer, requires written permission for use outside a fairly narrow scope, claims copyright over derivative works, and states that any use of the images constitutes acceptance of its terms. The only part that can appear in a “free licence” as understood here is the insistence on attribution, as in the CC-BY-SA 3.0.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 02:53, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Good afternoon,
- The photographer sent the full permissions to OTRS. I do not think reloading the pictures would be appropriate, but would the Wikimedia admins undelete once the conversation is closed?

If you want to check on the progress, or ask any other questions related to the OTRS email, you can ask at the OTRS noticeboard. OTRS is usually a bit backlogged, so it could take a little while. - It looks ok to me, but to be honest, you know more about these licenses than I do. I actually specialize in sock and spambot IPs and useragents, and perhaps unused personal images. INeverCry 20:30, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Needing to work on the original and the re-issue made for a bit of a tangle. This seems to be the "iconic" Hindenburg photo, so was trying to find a way for us to keep it. Sometimes another eye or ear is just what's needed because you're a little too "close" to what you're trying to do or what's going on. As I tell my friends, I might not be able to solve the problem, but I can listen. Thanks for doing that! :) We hope (talk) 20:56, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

- The test account is a bit strange, since it states it's "wmf QA" on the userpage. I've asked User:Mdennis (WMF) about it. Is there an Arabic editor?
I found a gallery [2] of paintings by a living painter (nominated). Also in that gallery are photos which go to this wiki page and which appear to be news, promotional or professional photos dating from around the 1970s. But with no descriptions on the files, and I don't read arabic well enough to make out the captions, I do not wish to proceed on those photos. One for sure is from 1975, but again, was it published? Who knows without descriptions. The files are in use. Thanks for all your help! Hi. I've just re-added the photo you deleted. As declared previously, I took it and it belongs to me (although not anymore because I'm trying to donate it to Commons!). I've reiterated that this time in the extra notes, as well as just with the boilerplate. It's not a copyright violation in any way. But thanks for your diligence. - You may want to just cut back on your volunteer load and take a break from using some rights and feeling responsible for some backlogs? You've taken on a lot and you do it impressively well. There is no shame in picking out out the jobs you enjoy most from the backlog, and leaving the others to languish or taking a break for a while to focus on content. At the end of the day you are not getting paid to do it, it should not become a chore or a burdensome duty. It helps if the wider Commons Community appreciates where we have difficult backlogs, and if some reach critical mass or even failure, it may help discussion and fresh ideas on how to resolve it or refocus it. It is about time we pushed an innovative programme to attract active admins, get quiet admins back out of the closet or even to hand off some jobs to non-admins using more narrow rights, or bots for basic tasks. We have fewer cultural issues than some other Wikimedia projects, so it may be a big project but it is not a lost cause. --Fæ (talk) 16:34, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

- In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
- In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

Regarding Udaya Gammanpila's Photograph [Deleted]
Good Day to You !!!
- Today I saw that Hon Udaya's Photograph has deleted by you as an action to the Obi2canibe's request, But I am regretful to say that your conclusion is wrong,As far as I Know Mr Anuradha never does Copyright Violations intentionally and also to mention he is a former politician in Sri Lanka, and comes from a quite powerful political family, This background itself is enough to have a Photograph of a Sri Lankan politician like Udaya with him,or get permission to upload to the Wiki,Even I have uploaded an Official Photographic Portrait of a Sri Lankan Minister with his consent -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Duleep_Wijesekera.jpg.

Ellin, allow me to commiserate with you on the dental issues, as I myself have some dentistry to look forward to in the very near future. My last two pulls resulted in dry sockets... I also need a procedure to re-open the tearduct of my right eye, one or more to deal with a deviated septum, etc. What drunken gods thought to confine these highflying minds of ours in these crumbling, drooping prisons of flesh and bone? If it was up to me we'd have a deletion bot that closed as delete all uncontested DRs, deleted the cat:unknown images, and the CSDs (I bet that would go over real well with everyone!). I dunno what a CSD is but as long as it's got nothing to do with real live Cats (Felix felix), I'm sure I would agree, too! - I really do think a lot of deletions should be handled by bots. I would also end all IP editing and encourage a few other things that most people would scream about, like more aggressive and extensive rangeblocking. CSD is speedy deletion btw. Good to hear about the new cat, but not the 2 weeks. You've got pain meds no? I like cats, but I'm not much of a pet owner. I haven't had one in many years, unless you count my 500+ books, which I kinda treat like pets. INeverCry 21:26, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Glad to see you back again. I'd love your opinion on how I'm doing at 6 months so far admin; since you're the one who nominated me. HUGS! Ellin Beltz (talk) 00:11, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Ellin. 1st let me return the hugs. ;) As for your admin performance, an average of 1100 log actions per month is higher than most, and It looks like you've gotten a very low level of complaints. Just imagine what a nutcase I was when I was averaging 15000 log actions per month here and 5000 on en.wiki at the same time! You've got to try some blocking though: you're missing out! Another thing I always enjoyed doing was finding experienced people to make autopatrolled. Odder beat me to 1000 there though... ;) INeverCry 02:08, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

Abuse of CU
Heya INC, how you doing mate, hope all is well. I tried to email you but you seem to have shut those emails down, that's cool. Just elaborate on your comment at the RfC about never having seen abuse, this (and the resultant thread) might be some interesting reading for you :( russavia (talk) 22:33, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hey old friend. I've got email connected as of late last night, for the first time since going on temporary retirement a month or so ago.
I never saw abuse personally or heard of your case, but I'm not surprised, seeing that it's the evil mastermind Russavia. That kind of shit would've been kept to private emails, maybe CU-IRC, which I never used, and never had access to, etc.
I looked into old logs a bit when I was a new CU to see how Herby handled spambots, spammy ranges, etc, and to see how things were done in general. I never saw any log entries of checks run on your account. Don't quote me, and I may just not have ran into your entries, but I would figure that WMF staff, OC, and likely stewards can hide/remove CU log entries, just like oversighters do with regular log entries like user creations...
As for me, I've always done my own thing, and tried my best to keep from becoming a member of the Вики-КПСС... INeverCry 02:41, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

See mistakenly deleted (by you) Lorea's collective logo
Used, prior to deletion, here : [[5]]
Reason: Did anybody reclaim it? Lorea's logo is owned by Lorea's collective. I'm part of that collective. It will only make the bureaucratic process longer... I think but if you want me to, i can put you in touch with the individual author (a Lorea's member too). But again, we feel like a collective, as long as the whole is always greater than the sum of the individual parts. Thanks for you comprehension — Preceding unsigned comment added by Llopis73 (talk • contribs) 07:14, August 8, 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. I actually didn't delete that particular logo, another admin did. I simply tagged it to be deleted because it's a complex logo lacking evidence of permission for release under a free license by the copyright holder. The copyright holder will have to follow the process detailed at COM:OTRS and send a permission email. An email from a Lorea.org email account would be preferable. They're not much different than our DR system; you just have to get used to the rationales/NFCC. Now that I'm an admin again here, I won't have much time for en.wiki. With all respect, did you not read my comment? En-Wiki accepts things that are out of copyright in America, but not their source country, byut CommonsDelinker deletes all usages on en-wiki if you delete before copying it over. Kindly fix it, and recover all usages you caused to be lost. I don't think there were that many, but CommonsDelinker does not make it at all easy to check now that it's run.

Advice, please
This is sort of a tangled mess! :) Had been doing some uploads at en:WP connected with Cecil Hepworth. The photos are all PD-US-1923-abroad because they were first taken in the UK, where Hepworth operated. File:Alma Taylor Life 1.jpg This one is the problem. The Life link is dead--a wayback machine one describes the photo but there's no picture. Description says this was taken in the UK in 1915; given her age and that she worked for Hepworth there, it's credible.
Have tried to find the photo in Life magazine through Google Books, but nothing comes up. Life wasn't published until the 1930s and has regularly renewed their issue copyrights. The photo seems to have been taken originally by Hepworth. Went to tin eye and found Getty has it "for sale" via Life. I don't believe that Getty has any right to this as they appear not to have taken the photo; the problem is, without considering Getty, it's PD-US-1923-abroad, and not eligible for Commons. I can get another photo for en:WP with a clear "abroad" license, but not sure there's one available for Commons for it:WP, who also is using this photo. I think this has to go for DR. Thanks! We hope (talk) 18:40, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Here's a copy of the photo in a 1921 French magazine-credits Hepworth. We hope (talk) 18:44, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- If you can't find a source for 1923 or earlier publication in the US, you might want to ask an admin here who is also an admin on en.wiki to restore the deleted version there and speedy delete the one here. Magog the Ogre does a lot of transfer work, if I remember right, so he might be able to help with it. As for Getty, and Corbis too for that matter, I've seen them claim copyright where they really had none quite often. I guess they figure if someone will pay, why not... INeverCry 19:02, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! Have left a message at Magog's Commons talk page and will speedy the file as soon as he lets me know about moving/restoring it to en:WP. We hope (talk) 19:23, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Hello, can I ask you why you deleted file File:Anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina.ogg? There was a proper license information; Copyright to the anthem is property of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it was recorded by copyright free Navy Band of the United States. Or not? --ThecentreCZ (talk) 23:16, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- Per Commons:Deletion requests/File:Anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina.ogg. The concerns of RP88 have to be addressed. I would suggest you post a request at COM:UDEL. INeverCry 23:22, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- ThecentreCZ, I saw your note and INeverCry's reply. I'll try to provide a more in-depth explanation of the issue.
First, most national anthems are in the public domain either due to (a) the expiration of the associated copyrights, or (b) an explicit release by the copyright owner, or (c) a specific provision in the county's national copyright law. Unfortunately, none of these apply to the anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The copyright status of this anthem was actually disputed at one point, and the Office of the High Representative ruled that the anthem is indeed copyrighted and the copyright is now the property of Bosnia and Herzegovina (see Article 4 of Decision imposing the Law on the National Anthem of BiH). In Bosnia and Herzegovina a copyright expires 70 years after the death of the author. The author of the anthem's composition is Dušan Šestić, who is still alive, so it will be at least 70 years until the anthem's copyright expires. Because the anthem is copyrighted, in order to host the file Commons needs Bosnia and Herzegovina to issue a statement that releases the anthem into the public domain, or, alternatively, a Commons-compatible "free" license to the anthem.
Second, you inquired if the U.S. Navy Band performance of the anthem is PD. Music recordings are composed of multiple elements which each may be entitled to separate and distinguishable copyrights. For example, a recording might have one copyright originating from the musicians for their original contributions to a particular specific performance, a separate copyright originating from the composer of the music, and possibly even a further separate copyright originating from the author of the lyrics. In the case of the U.S. Navy Band recording of the anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina we don't have to worry about copyrighted lyrics (as there are no lyrics), and we don't have to worry about a copyrighted performance (as all works of U.S. government employees are automatically in the public domain), but, unfortunately the composition itself is copyrighted (and the copyright is owned by Bosnia and Herzegovina). If you check the U.S. Navy band website you will notice that they don't claim the anthems they distribute are PD and they very carefully note that they are "intended for official use by Department of Defense and U.S. government offices only". You might ask how the U.S. Navy Band website can legally distribute copyrighted music. This is possible because U.S. copyright law permits copyrighted works to be distributed without permission under certain circumstances; the U.S. calls this fair use. In the U.S. it would certainly be "fair use" to distribute a recording of a copyrighted national anthem for the limited purpose of honoring visiting dignitaries at official government diplomatic events. Unfortunately, Commons does not accept "fair use" media files, because fair use laws vary from country to country. —RP88 (talk) 05:15, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- ThecentreCZ, I saw your note and INeverCry's reply. I'll try to provide a more in-depth explanation of the issue.

- I'm not an OTRS member, so I can't restore these because I can't confirm the ticket. You have to wait for an OTRS member to request restoration or you can ask about the ticket at the OTRS notice board. INeverCry 17:33, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Files uploaded by me from the Facebook
Dear INeverCry, I don't know why the files of the painter Hades that were uploaded by me were deleted. The owner of these files gave permission to use freely her images with no-commercial purposes. I saw this permission in her Facebook, in her post entry from 1st August 2014. I didn't violate her copyright... Please reply me! This is the text of the artist permission https://www.facebook.com/lena.hades/posts/10204021794282265 Tianminglaura 18:15, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- She prohibits commercial use of the images in her statement. Commons only accepts free licenses that explicitly allow commercial use. See COM:L. INeverCry 17:28, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
INeverCry, I've noticed there at least four licences accepted by Commons, some type of licenses prohibits commercial use of the images... In this way Commons accepts not onlY free licenses. Am I right?Tianminglaura 08:15, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- You're partly right. You can use more than one license, but atleast one of them must allow commercial use. Read COM:L, especially Commons:Licensing#Acceptable_licenses and Commons:Licensing#Multi-licensing. INeverCry 04:41, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Duck Tolling Retriever image deletion
Why are you deleting all of the images? They have been on Commons for years and suddenly it's important to delete them without informing the projects that they're up for deletion? Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:14, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- What files are you referring to? You need to provide links. As for informing other projects, there's no policy here on Commons requiring such notifications. Thousands of images are nominated for deletion or speedy deletion and deleted every day; notifying other projects about all of these images, or even a significant portion of them, is a logistical impossibility. Memocs image
Sorry, I saw you removed the image I uploaded.
I sent the required email (I paste it below). I also asked in Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard, but I had no answer and the file was removed all the same. Could you please help me? Having sent the required email and declared that I am the sole owner of the copyright, what else could I have done? And what can I do now? --TullioGabrio

- You would have to ask again at the OTRS notice board, or ask an OTRS member directly. They always have a backlog though, so it often takes a while to process the OTRS email and restore the image. INeverCry 16:05, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Can I expect that the image will be automatically restored or I will need to upload it again? --TullioGabrio
- An OTRS member will either restore the image themselves if they're also an administrator, or they'll request an administrator to restore it. INeverCry 17:45, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Recent deletions of works at Wikisource
Hi INC. Recently you deleted (djvu/pdf) works where they had connections to pages at English Wikisource. djvu/pdf works have a complex connection into the WS world, and straight deleting them causes problems at the WSes, so the communities would appreciate it, if they are contacted prior to deletion processes here at Commons. This way we can remedy such components prior to deletion. For enWS a note to s:en:WS:AN should be sufficient.
As a more general note, enWS just utilises {{PD-1923}} as its measure for retention, rather than US and home country, so such books can be transferred to enWS prior to deletion. Any of the en c:/s: co-admins would be able to move the files over easily using the MediaWiki:ExCommons.js tool. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:15, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
Could you please explain...
You recently deleted Category:TTC Streetcar loops. Can I ask why? Isn't it generally recognized that the deletion of older categories, that once held useful content, is damaging to the projects integrity and utility? Isn't it generally recognized that among the factors that make this practice disruptive is that it unnecessarily leaves dangling red-links on all third party sites that included the old categories explicit URL?
IMO, if the contributor who moved the category to a new name didn't leave a category redirect, and instead called for speedy deletion, they made a mistake, and I suggest that you should have declined the speedy request. Geo Swan (talk) 21:03, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
- You're right. I'll do my best to avoid repeating this mistake in future. Thanks for bring it to my attention. INeverCry 23:33, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
About Corey Taylor at Allstate Arena 2009
It was very disrespectful that you deleted that image regardless of my comment: "This is only a piece of smooth latex and without drawings. Where's the copyright?". Progenie (talk) 21:33, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
- This was a decision based on policy, and nothing at all personal or disrespectful. I took your comment into consideration, but found Jim's deletion rationale convincing. I deleted the image because the mask is a creative work and was designed by someone specifically for Slipknot/Corey Taylor, making the image a copyvio derivative. Request, could you please comment on Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Eduemoni?
Hello there, I've uploaded two SVG files which I edited based upon w:Dogecoin official logo, Dogecoin is a cryptcurrency open-source project released under MIT license[6], its cofounder ummjackson released the original files under Creative Commons Attribution license[7][8], however a user nominated them claiming copyright violation. Could you please comment on this deletion request? Eduemoni (talk) 02:07, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
- I would only echo what Fry has already said; unless the original dog photo used in the meme can be shown to have been released under a free license, these derivatives will likely be deleted. INeverCry 02:35, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
