- The 2009 Superleague Formula season was the second Superleague Formula championship. The series was rebranded the "Superleague Formula by Sonangol" for this season and also 2010 with the Angolan oil company becoming the title sponsor. It began on June 28 at Magny-Cours and finished on November 8 at Jarama. The field remained at 18 clubs for the 2009 season but Beijing Guoan did not return to try to retain the title which they won with Davide Rigon in 2008, however Rigon did return in the car of Olympiacos CFP despite GP2 commitments. In Estoril, María de Villota became the first woman to race in the series and Sébastien Bourdais became the most successful racing driver to enter the series having been dropped by Scuderia Toro Rosso just weeks earlier. Bourdais described Superleague as "the best alternative to F1". Liverpool F.C., run under Hitech Junior Team with driver Adrián Vallés, were crowned series champions for the first time at the last event of the season. (en)

- Het Superleague Formula seizoen van 2009 was het tweede Superleague Formula-Wereldkampioenschap-seizoen. De serie krijg dit jaar ook een nieuwe naam, voortaan zou het Superleague Formula by Sonangol gaan heten. Het seizoen begon op 28 juni op het circuit van Magny-Cours en eindigde, na 6 ronden en 1 races, op het circuit van Jarama. Liverpool FC, gerund door Hitech Racing en met de coureur Adrián Vallés, werd dit seizoen kampioen. De grid telde dit seizoen 18 wagens van 18 verschillende clubs. Beijing Guoan kon dit jaar de titel, die ze in 2008 haalden met de coureur Davide Rigon, niet verdedigen, omdat ze niet meer meededen aan het kampioenschap. Rigon kon wel weer terugkomen op de grid, namelijk uitkomend voor het team van Olympiacos CFP. In Estoril werd María de Villota de eerste vrouw in deze klasse, de meest succesvolle coureur was Sébastien Bourdais, hij werd halverwege het seizoen ontslagen bij het F1 team van Scuderia Toro Rosso. Bourdais beschreef de Superleague als "het beste alternatief voor de F1". (nl)

Nesta época, o campeonato teve o nome "Superleague Fórmula by Sonangol" devido a um acordo de dois anos que começou nesta temporada. O número de equipas a disputar iria subir para 21, conforme pretendia a organização do campeonato, mas apenas 18 equipas estão presentes esta época no campeonato. Também contrariamente às pretensões da organização, o calendário não se expandiu, nem tem por enquanto nenhuma prova fora da Europa. O clube vencedor foi o Liverpool F.C., com o piloto Adrián Vallés e a equipa de corridas Hitech Racing. (pt)
