Abstract
This paper summarizes the results of a project undertaken by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to assess the economic benefits of standards through case studies in over 20 countries worldwide. The methodology has been developed in 2009 by ISO in cooperation with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and continuously refined to determine and quantify the benefits that result from the use of standards for standards-using organizations. The paper starts with an overview of how the case studies have been organized, followed by an introduction to the methodology and concludes with a summary of the main findings.
