The September 2024 New Page Patrol Backlog Drive was a one-month-long effort to reduce the backlog of the new pages patrol articles and redirects feed. The coordinators for this drive were Hey man im josh and DreamRimmer. The drive began on September 1, 2024 (00:00 UTC), and concluded on October 1, 2024 (00:00 UTC). The ultimate goal of this backlog drive was to reduce the number of articles and redirects awaiting patrol, whilst maintaining quality reviews. Awards will be given out to the participants based on their contributions during the drive. If you have any questions, please leave a message on this drive's talk page.

Points

1. Points: Points will be calculated based on the 30-day total according to the leaderboard. It is updated by BaranBOT, which counts patrols, draftifications, and deletion nominations, but can only detect deletion nominations when performed with the Page Curation tool. We will accept CSD logs made by Twinkle, which will be added to the leaderboard at the end of the drive, based on the principle of good faith. Participants will have 3 days (until October 4, 2024, at 00:00 UTC) to submit these logs on the drive's talk page after the drive has ended.
   1. Articles are worth 1 point.
   2. Redirects are worth 0.2 points, so as to encourage a focus on article reviews.
2. Re-reviewing: As usual, rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. To ensure quality reviews, credit is also given for re-reviews. To find articles to re-review, participants are encouraged to visit the leaderboard section and check any reviewer's log. Please make sure that an article was not a redirect at the time it was reviewed and that it's not already been re-reviewed by another participant. Participants are allowed to submit re-reviews for 4 days following the completion of the drive. You are encouraged to focus on re-reviewing articles from other drive participants over non-participants. All re-reviews are to be submitted by October 4, 2024, at 00:00 UTC.

Awards

Awards will be given by the coordinators after the drive has ended. Participants can earn one point by marking an article as reviewed, moving an article not ready for mainspace to draft space, or by nominating articles that don't meet notability guidelines for deletion. Additionally, participants can earn 0.2 points for reviewing a redirect or nominating it for deletion.

Closing

On 1 October, the coordinators will begin the process of closing the drive following these steps:

• Y Start discussion on drive talk page for users to submit deletion logs that were not caught by the bot (Twinkle logs).
  • Evaluate validity of tags (name space, G7, etc.)
  • Add points to totals
  • Wait 72 hours and close this section
• Y Evaluate re-reviews.
  • Strike incorrect/misguided re-reviews.
  • Strike redirect re-reviews as they are ineligible.
  • Give out re-reviewing award.
• Y Update documentation.
  • Post final graph after drive.
  • Retarget header link back to main page.
  • Add note that drive has ended to page.
  • Add a final update statement with backlog stats, etc. to newsletter draft.
  • Any other post drive cleanup.
• Y Distribute barnstars.
  • Give out regular, point based awards.
  • Give out streak awards.
