History

[edit | edit source]

General

[edit | edit source]

The Exent GameTanium was an Android subscription based service for television oriented gaming.[1] The service would have offered an "All-you-can-eat" style service for $5 a month,[2] with a free three day trial available at launch to attract users.[3] This model is similar to many notable streaming services of the late 2010s onwards. The service would have also offered "trophies" for gamers seeking to share their achivements.[2]

A partnership was made with FXI Cotton Candy devices.[4] These were small Android computers contained in a stick formfactor.[5]

Launch

[edit | edit source]

The service launched on Android based tablets on February 26, 2012.[3] The service expanded exclusively to Verizon Wireless smartphones and tablets by July 13th, 2012, at a price of $5.99 a month.[6]

Legacy

There is little written about the Exent GameTanium outside of 2012 and 2013.
