Rollback to unseen vandalism by 27.59.122.126
[edit source]Hi, just saw the IP above do vandalism unseen by admins. Kindly rollback to the previous checked version.

- @Encik Tekateki: Admin JackPotte checked their edits on Color_Models:_RGB,_HSV,_HSL and accepted them. As for the other page, I'm just gonna leave it there for someone else to check because I'm not really sure if it's vandalism or good edits in the wrong format. 大诺史 (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 16:27, 7 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Minorax!
[edit source]Thank you for your message. I am still in the process of learning this whole thing. I am amazed at how much I learned in completing just what I did yesterday. I haven't done basic HTML in at least 10 years so this wasn't much of a leap, just a lot to remember with some modifications. How do I index pages within the book itself? How do I change names of things once they're created? I appreciate the oversight and welcome any constructive feedback!

- @Powellle: Hi, you can add
{{BOOKCAT}}
into pages that you've created. (example) and it'll be automatically categorized into Category:Book:Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. As you're not "autoconfirmed" yet, you can't move pages as of now. But when the system automatically grants you the user right (probably in a few days time), you'll see a move button at the top of the page you're editing. Hope that answers your questions :) Minorax (discuss • contribs) 13:12, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
NavBox
[edit source]Hi again my friend. I am trying to create a navbox on my page. I wanted to put it at the bottom of all the pages. Obviously the Chapters after 5 are not done yet but are coming along quickly from my Word Doc of my prior physical text. The navbox is at the bottom of my main page here: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Osteopathic_Manipulative_Medicine - but when I try to put it within the chapters, it doesn't work and the links turn red. Help! :) Thank you so much. I am sorry if I am bothering you! - Lenny
- @Powellle: Hey, you can add in
{{:Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine/Navbox}}
(example). Minorax (discuss • contribs) 06:06, 12 April 2020 (UTC)- @Minorax, Powellle: Ordinarily we would make the navbox a "book template", in template space. I've tried setting it up that way; try adding this:
{{ {{BOOKNAME}} }}
- diff I'm not very familiar with {{Navbox}}, but we've tried to set up book-specific templates that way. --Pi zero (discuss • contribs) 12:21, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Pi zero: My intention for creating a subpage instead was that it is only used in this book, but I'm fine either way. Thanks for your help :) Minorax (discuss • contribs) 12:27, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- As it happens, our infrastructure is set up for templates associated with just one book. The name of the template starts with the name of the book. And then, for example, the temmplate itself has {{BookCat}} on it, and {{BookCat}} notices that it's being called in template space and "does the right thing": it files the template into a
Templates
subcategory of the book category; in this case, Category:Book:Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine/Templates. Going deeper into the mysteries of the infrastructure, this book-template-category uses a header that also calls {{BookCat}}, but in that case {{BookCat}} notices that it's being called in category space, and more than that, being called from a book templates category, and again "does the right thing", by filing the book templates category both in the book category (here, Category:Book:Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine) and in Category:Book-specific templates. --Pi zero (discuss • contribs) 12:41, 12 April 2020 (UTC)- @Pi zero: Seems clear to me now, thanks for your explanation. Thanks for clearing up the mess from the IP. Quite a lot of work to do so!

[edit source]Hello Minorax,
I am concerned by some of the edits you have been making to the Meter Stamp catalogs. I believe you are trying to improve them but the results often violate the formatting I designed for them. Please lets communicate about this.
Thank you, Rick Stambaugh
- @Rickstambaugh: I’ll recheck it when I have the time. Undid for now. Minorax (discuss • contribs) 00:04, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
Obsolete constructions, cleaning up formatting...
[edit source]Thanks.
I was using w:User:PerfektesChaos/js/lintHint to find some of these based on the initial list generated at Special:LintErrors
I've noted that
Had you also considered using w:Wikipedia:TemplateStyles, to set up a 'house' style for specfic Wikibook(s) so that in renovating the Wikibook(s) concerned, the styling information can be standardized between pages, without needing to use inline styles or FONT tag equivalents as extensively? (The use of Templatestyles, and semi-semantic based templates for formatting, is something that is being examined at English Wikisource.)
ShakespeareFan00 (discuss • contribs) 07:13, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- I also left some notes to another contributor here User_talk:Fabartus#Lint_errors... , You may of course be aware of many of the situations that arise already. I have no objections to those notes, being improved into actual help or Technical documentation on how to repair older pages. ShakespeareFan00 (discuss • contribs) 07:19, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- @ShakespeareFan00: I'm not familiar on how TemplateStyles work so I'm not comfortable creating something that is largely based on that. Sorry. --Minorax (discuss • contribs) 08:57, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for fixing the tags
[edit source]There's so many hours of very hard work I put into expanding the video game guide scope of this wiki, so there are things that I sometimes do not get to. I greatly appreciate your help with updating the tags to HTML5. :) 2005-Fan (discuss • contribs) 14:53, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Amharic section: reasons for reversion

How we will see unregistered users
[edit source]Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Hello, thank you for maintaining the script. While adding myself (I hope that's okay by what is stated at Wikibooks:Global rights policy#Global sysops), I remembered the Meta script had been converted to use JSON – seeing that there are technically only two local interface admins, do you think that would make sense here too? It shouldn't be too hard to adopt the new Meta version here again. Thanks, 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 15:43, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- @1234qwer1234qwer4: Hello. I personally think that .js is easier to update as compared to .json so I probably would refrain from swapping it over unless the community agrees to. Also, GS can freely update the script when needed so there's an additional 20 interface admins available. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 15:50, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
IP blocks
[edit source]Your message was very strange and unconstructive especially as you seem to have posted the same message to other WB sysops. I have "reviewed" the IP blocks and they remain blocked. Each IP had a note added to their talk page and they are able to appeal their blocks if they choose to. If you really want them unblocking then you are free to do it yourself. Sending messages like this to administrators is not really appreciated.--Xania talk 11:48, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Xania: Firstly, how was I rude? It'll be rude if I just unblocked them myself without consulting the blocking admin. I've asked you to review the blocks and adjust accordingly, in simpler terms, to add an end date to the IP blocks rather than blocking it indefinitely. See w:Wikipedia:Blocking_IP_addresses#Block_lengths and Wikibooks:Blocking_policy#IP_address_blocks on why IPs should not be blocked indefinitely. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:29, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- It was rude to ask someone to kindly review the blocks and adjust accordingly. The way this is written seems rude and patronizing. We are all administrators who have been here a long time and it is pretty condescending. And now you point me to a random article about Blocking IP addresses which is equally patronizing. It is also rude imo to just copy and paste the same message to multiple people at the same time. We are all volunteers on this project and are trying our best and patronizing people is not the way to keep people involved in the project. As I said before, I have reviewed the IP blocks already and they remain blocked indefinitely. If you wish to change the block then that's your choice.--Xania talk 13:16, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- I will also add that the page you refered me to does not say that indefinite IP blocks are not allowed (I only looked at the WB page because this is Wikibooks not Wikipedia). The page clearly says they should rarely, if ever' be blocked indefinitely. Given that in 15 years of being an administrator I have blocked several thousands of users, 3 indefinite blocks seems to fit in with rarely.--Xania talk 13:20, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
