OK so I'm lazy and Tijuana Brass's page looked so purdy...so I stole it. If you're Mr. Brass, sorry for the thievery - but is not imitation the sincerest form of flattery?

Docsubster

Welcome one, welcome all, to my Wikipedia page! I'm Docsubster and I'm a relative newcommer to Wikipedia - I've been editing on and off for a year or so but it's only recently I've decided to try and do some proper work on some articles which I think need it. For support, advice, praise, random abuse, please use my talk page. My main interest on Wikipedia right now is to improve the Sri Lankan history articles (my parents are Sri Lankan) and maintain NPOV

Projects du jour

The article I've mainly been working on recently is Parakramabahu I; check it out. Next I'll be looking to work on Kandyan Wars a bit more, incorporating more information from original sources, and Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe

My Point of View

Dealing with anything Sri Lankan it's pretty much impossible to get away from the war, and here's my take on it. I think the whole thing is a tragedy for all concerned. I believe that laying blame on a particular ethnic group is completely unconstructive and will result in the resolution of nothing. Nor will any discussion of who or whom Sri Lanka actually 'belongs' to. The fact of the matter is that for most of its history the island has been multicultural and multireligious. Never before was ethnic strife the crux of Lankan politics, and I don't believe it should be now. I am against the partitioning of Sri Lanka because to do so is to imply that diverse ethnic groups cannot live together in peace, and will undermine the idea of multiculturalism. I also think that rewriting history to suit modern politcal ideologies is distasteful. Reinterpret the facts to suit your view; use your knowledge to back up your argument; but do not change history to give your opinions a basis in the past they lack. The civil war has resulted in a lot of this happening on Wikipedia and I intend to stop this wherever I can.
