HI there. I made some edits to your Sri Lankan articles, and gave them an assessment, too. If you don't like the edits, feel free to change them. Likewise, if you disagree with the assessment ("B") feel free to resubmit it. Jeffpw 22:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I just got your message. Here are some links that can help you with your articles: WP:MOS WP:CITE Template:Infobox Biography . Do you think you can find some images to put in the box?
- About changing the title--Ihave no idea, sorry. You can go to the help desk and ask there (I think that would fall under technical issues. You can also post that in the discussion of the article. I do think that should be changed, though.
- The best way to link to other wiki articles about Sri Lanka would be to embed the links in the text. If they are only tangentially related, you can make a separate section called "See Also", and put the links there.
- If you want to get these articles up from B status to "Good Article", it would be helpful to submit them for a peer review. You can do that both in Wiki Biographies or a general review. Personally, I have found the Wikibiographers to be much more responsive and helpful.
- Please feel free to contact me if you need any more help. You do really good work here. Jeffpw 09:23, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Vijaya Edit
[edit]Hey Docsubster, you've done a great job with the article. It was really weak before you edited it (I'm assuming 131.111.8.98 is your IP). So thanks.
First I have to say I'm not really that good with Sri Lankan history, and also most history I know is from high school textbooks which aren't entirely accurate and tend to portray a overly glorified version of history. So sorry I put the tag without explaining further but I didnt really have that much time to edit the article.
The thing is, while we cannot say for certain whether the Mahavansa is correct or not, when you say things like "creation myth" it makes it sound as if it is false without any doubt. Also "The tale of Vijaya begins in the kingdom of Vanga in India," it sounds like its a fairy tale :)
I'm not saying we should say what the mahavansa says is 100% correct and give the story of Vijaya as absolute fact, but can we moderate the words a little? Articles on WP are supposed to give every POV a mention, and not make judgements about which is correct. So, while I think we should certainly say at the top that the mahavansa may contain some legend, we should for example, instead of saying "The tale of Vijaya begins..." say "according to the mahavansa, Vijaya was a prince from ..." or something like that. What do you think?
And again thanks for improving a number of Sri Lanka related articles, unfortunately not many people who know about Sri Lankan history contribute to wikipedia. Also I'm a little busy now, but I should be free over the next week (cos of thnaksgiving) so I'll certainly go through the articles you mentioned.--snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 03:46, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
BLOCKED!
[edit]Why did this happen? Who is 'Please...'? This has nothing to do with me - someone please tell me why I've been blocked!
Problem page
[edit]I think the prob is you didn't format a reference correctly. I would fix it, but I can't find the sandbox page you mentioned. Still trying to fix it though. Jeffpw 11:52, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Managed to fix it. You added a full stop to a reference. Gee, aren't I clever? :-) Jeffpw 12:04, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Here's the diff. You added a full stop where it shouldn't be. It's the second line from the bottom of the yellow block (header not included in the line count) - Mgm|(talk) 12:33, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. Checking it now. Jeffpw 12:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Voila! The problem was that you included full stops in your references (eg: <ref.>) Though "ref" is indeed an abbreviation, adding the stop will screw up the code. References are such a pain in theass, aren't they? Jeffpw 13:03, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. Checking it now. Jeffpw 12:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Pleasant Surprise
[edit]Check the articles talk page :-) Jeffpw 13:37, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- My turned to be chagrined. I should have given it a B until it is completed. It is now changed, but when you finish the other sections (assuming they are as well done as what you have done up to now), please let me know and I will change it to GA. You do excellent work. Jeffpw 13:44, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Parâkramabâhu I now GA
[edit]Hi, Doc. I have just reclassed this as a Good Article, and left some feedback on the talk page of the article. You've done a great job on this. Please let me know if you decide to submit this as a Featured Article candidate so I can support the nomination. Jeffpw 20:40, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
8It's now on the nomination list, and i am adding my support to it now. Jeffpw 22:50, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- From Sandy on her talk page: Sorry I got crossed up with you in attempting to correct the nom; we were doing the same work at the same time in trying to get it correctly listed, so some of my edits weren't recorded, as you were slightly ahead of me on correcting the faulty nom. It means that, rather than list everything that needs to be done still, it would be better to list it at peer review to better prepare the article for FAC, since it still needs work in many areas. Sandy (Talk) 23:08, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- Biography Project peer review request added, and it's no problem, Doc. I'm happy to help! Jeffpw 05:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Great Work
[edit]DocSubster, you've done a great job with the article. It looks really good now. Probably the best Sri Lanka related article on Wikipedia I've seen. Really sorry I cant give you any input right now but I have my finals these days and I'm kind of busy :) The only thing is maybe you should see if it complies fully with WP:MoS and related guidelines but otherwise its really well written. Certainly hope it get FA status. And again, really well done :) --snowolfD4( talk / @ ) 16:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, as Snowolfd4 said you've done a great job with the article Parâkramabâhu I. I'm Sri lankan who lives in Sri Lanka and happy to help you about this article. If you need such, let me know I will do anything for you within my limitations. ♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ Walkie-talkie 07:04, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hi DocSubster , I think this is the best article I have seen on Sri Lankan history. I am really glad you chose to expand Wikipedia in this area, as Sri Lanka is one of the few nations which has this kind of documented history Dutugemunu 11:33, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Parakramabahu
[edit]Great job, you've taken out the main peacock phrases, nevertheless I have replaced the tag back on the article since I would like the input of yet some more editors. Once it has been read through entirely and edited appropriately, you can take the tag off. FrummerThanThou 13:11, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
