Proposed Split
[edit]This article uses templates aggressively -- too many, in fact, to correctly render the article. I think it would help to split the article into two; one with the presedential results and one with the mayoral results. -- Mikeblas (talk) 15:08, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Mikeblas: The issues with rendering the article came from the use of the {{trim}} template. All the transcluded sections were within {{trim}}, and trim uses {{#if}}, so they were essentially a template within a template within a template, and they were being counted three times in the post-expand include size, causing it to hit the 2MB limit. I swapped the {{trim}} calls for {{#if:1}}s, which cut it from 2MB to 1.5MB, and if we remove the {{#if}}s altogether (I don't think they're needed), it would reduce it to under 1MB. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 14:51, 23 April 2020 (UTC)- Thanks! Looks a lot better already. Why is a the conditional if used to trim a string? Why is string trimming necessary so repeatedly in the article? But, maybe more importantly, should we ditch the idea of splitting the article? There's some headroom with your fixes, so maybe it isn't necessary any longer. -- Mikeblas (talk) 14:59, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- I've removed the split request I've made, since Ahect has the article rendering correctly now. -- Mikeblas (talk) 14:57, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

@Mikeblas:I think this article should be deleted entirely. There's no reason for it to exist, it can just go on Bloomberg's page. Smith0124 (talk) 05:00, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose merge. I think there's enough material here to warrant a split article. -- Mikeblas (talk) 14:57, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
