[edit]This article is about an 'airline' that does not fly, operated by OEM who are reported to have pulled out.
Its not getting off the ground. --Gibnews 14:56, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]Strongly suggest some sources independant of the airline's website be used to verify and expand this article. here are a few I found on a quick Googlebash. -- saberwyn 22:13, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- The Gibraltar Magazine article
- Information about stand at the World Travel Market
- Reproduction of Government Press Release - would be an idea to find the original goivernment department that released it.
The press releases are issued by the Government of Gibraltar their website is gibraltar.gov.gi they can also be found on my site at http://www.gibnews.net/cgi-bin/gn_show.pl?gogx.
However, articles in the press and hopeful statements by Government in the past do not an airline make. The backers are OEM International aka Robert Noonan an aged Irish multi-millionaire in the property business, whose development of the Gibraltar Rosia tanks site seems to have stalled. --Gibnews 19:04, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure which facts are in dispute here. There is such an airline (fact), it intends to operate out of Gibraltar to the mentioned destinations (fact), it was supposed to have started in spring of 07 (fact) but has been delayed till 08 or more (fact). Even though it is vapourware so far, all the facts in the article are verifiable, I feel the wikipedia article is appropriate. So can we get rid of the factual-accuracy tag? - Binand 21:12, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- I dispute that there is an airline. Anyone can produce pictures of an airliner on photoshop, issue speculative press releases and register a website, that does not make it real or notable enough for a wikipedia entry. The same guys were supposed to be building an airport in Jimena De La Frontera, both projects are vapourware which may impress their investors but do not deserve an entry in Wikipedia. --Gibnews 11:25, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- That may be the case, but facts say that there are press releases and such (even the government of Gibraltar issues press releases - see http://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/latest_news/press_releases/2006/234-2006.pdf); verifying the veracity of the claims made in these releases or background-checking the originators of such releases probably fall under original research. So I really don't think the FlyGib article lacks factual accuracy. Now notability - that's totally different and I fully agree that a vapourware airline is hardly notable enough for a wikipedia article :) - Binand 05:29, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- True, but the GoG article simply welcomes the airline it does not confirm it is real; see also http://www.thenewpeople.net/print/110507.pdf --Gibnews 09:18, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:FlyGibraltar.gif
[edit]Image:FlyGibraltar.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
