From the way the two articles are currently written, they seem to be a tossup with notability. The younger Mrvan is a new politico on the federal level, so doesn't show any great notability. He would be of greater national interest if he proposed significant legislation or was a major committee chair. The current situation between the two is a state senator with 40 years at the state level, or a reprsentative with over 1 year on the federal level. There is no great preponderance of notability accruing to the younger Mrvan. And if it turns out he becomes a 1-term congressman [1] his father would seem to have the greater long term notability due to the longer legislative record [2][3] which would impact the citizens of Indiana, and being one of the longest serving state senators [4]. I disagree. A Google News search for Frank Mrvan turns up almost exclusively results about the younger Frank Mrvan[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] Just about 1 source about the father retiring [14]. Notability is based on the weight of coverage in reliable sources, not based on the length of career. Even if Mrvan isn't reelected, he is more notable based on the source coverage of a federal US representative getting a lot of national coverage versus a state senator, mostly getting trivial local coverage. Comment. Gentle reminder that the primary topic for an article title relies not upon general notability, but upon the two main criteria as described at WP:PTOPIC. So setting general notability aside, one question would be, is either Mr. Mrvan called by the proposed title, "Frank Mrvan", in reliable sources moreso than the other Mr. Mrvan? P.I. To add on I think I demonstrated above that per WP:DETERMINEPRIMARY any test should yield the younger Mrvan - he's in the news a lot more and he's also more prominent in source material since he is a national U.S. Congressperson, and his father is a state representative of more local interest. Contrary to the statement by 64.229.88.43 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), they aren't roughly equivalent on a balance in Google search. Andre🚐 18:43, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
