Year of Graduation

[edit]

Would it be usefull information to put year of graduation and type of degree on this page for alumni that actually graduated? AJseagull1 23:58, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

William James Sidis

[edit]

Did Sidis really attend Tufts for a year? I heard that it was just a mistaken belief because of an error in a newspaper or magazine. --Jagz 05:22, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the name William James Sidis from this article because I don't think he actually attended Tufts. If anyone knows for sure that he did, you can put it back in. --Jagz 21:45, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I put him back. Source: http://www.sidis.net/newyorker3.htm —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.52.76.203 (talk) 15:48, 31 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Andrew Fastow

[edit]

I noticed that someone scrubbed him from the list without a good reason, so I added him back. He could be moved to the criminal section if anyone so desires...--Isotope23 19:00, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal from Wikipedia of Article Concerning Walter Wriston

[edit]

Given Walter Wriston's many historical and significant accomplishments (reflected in his being awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom), the article concerning him should be restored. I can conceive of no basis (in logic, fact, or Wriston's notability) that would serve as a well founded reason for the removal of his article. His archives are at Tufts and are accessible online. As a result of the deletion of his article, his name now appears in red in this list of notables. Footnotes have been added to his listing in this article to reference his achievements. 69.121.18.196 (talk) 00:56, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of unlinked/redlinked names

[edit]

WP:NLIST says very explicitly that all people on lists like this (alumni, residents, etc.) must have verification that the person 1) went to the school and 2) is important enough to be mentioned in the article (here, Tufts University) in prose. If the person has a wikipage that has a reference, that's fine; otherwise we need a reliable source that verifies both of these things. As such, I am removing all people without either a wikipage or a reference. Please do not add any people without such verification to this list. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:28, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If what you are saying is that you are deleting those entries that lack both a wp article (that indicates that the person is a Tufts alumni, w/proper RS support) and an appropriate ref on the list (non-independent refs being insufficient to confer notability), which is what I think you are saying ... then I fully support what you are doing. I've been doing a poor man's version of that elsewhere. Kudos.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:02, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pix

[edit]

The pix are all great, but I would suggest bringing them down to perhaps 180px. That allows for more to be added than we would otherwise have, works for me on a subjective visual scale (I understand that others might differ, so have not made the change ... in the event they do), and is in accord with what I have seen/done on other such lists. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:05, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Joanne Pransky deletion from this page

[edit]

Joanne Pransky's page is already been proposed for deletion for lack of notability and there is still a question of the notability. I will move her to the section of "other" as she is an entertainer and journalist in robotics but not a roboticist or computer scientist. I beleive she should be deleted from he page but that is up to an editorial discussion. At the least, it is valid I beleive to move her to the category of "other".

The proposal for deletion was denied, and there is no AfD submitted, so unless that happens and succeeds, an article about her (not a 'page') exists, and her name should remain on this list article. The "Other" category is a reasonable sub-list. David notMD (talk) 11:27, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Duplicates

[edit]

There were quite a few people with duplicate entries on here...one person was mentioned three times. It just seemed to make the most sense to eliminate the duplicates, so someone appears only once. I'm sure people will quibble on where I removed the duplicate, but I tried to do what I thought made the most sense. Not sure that I caught them all, but I caught more than 10 duplicate entries. The main area of duplication was people who were mentioned as Nobel Laureates, or as Nobel Prize Winners, and then in another category. In those instances, I left them in the Nobel Laureates and Prize Winner categories, as that seemed more prestigious. Please note that I didn't remove any person from this list...just a duplicate entry for them. Asc85 (talk) 00:58, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
