Love Story (Taylor's Version)
[edit]For what reason is "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" listed as a single rather than a promotional single? The song was released the same way as "You All Over Me" and "Mr. Perfectly Fine," which are both promotional singles from the same album, with the only difference being that a remix of LSTV was also released. Per Wikipedia's critera for singles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Singles_criteria), I do not see why this song isn't called a promotional single.
ETA: I see that this topic was previously brought up, yet there was never a real consensus. Someone had argued that it would only make sense for LSTV to be an official single because the album otherwise would have none, but the recently-released Speak Now (Taylor's Version) also has no singles. I see no reason why that should be a determining factor. The only other "evidence" I saw anyone claim in favor of LSTV being an offical single is that multiple media outlets called it one, but it's not at all unusual for promotional singles to be plainly referred to as singles. The song's actual manner of release does not at all match that of actual singles (which these days usually requires a radio release or occasionally a physical release), and every other Taylor Swift song that Wikipedia calls a single has a radio and/or physical release. 2601:180:8200:63D0:5914:9143:C8BE:8998 (talk) 21:03, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
TFA
[edit]Noting that Wehwalt has rescheduled this article to run for a day-and-a-half at TFA, per this discussion at WP:ERRORS. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:39, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- This reads like an advertisement. Is that why it was chosen? —chbarts (talk) 18:22, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- SandyGeorgia once we're started on September 15, suggest we revert and make this (officially) only the TFA for September 15 so it isn't deprived of the opportunity to run again after a minimum of five years. There's no way at present to code a third TFA appearance. Wehwalt (talk) 13:44, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- Wehwalt sounds good ... I just wanted to avoid having you get a zillion "what happened" questions ... if I remember, I'll remove the double maindate parameter tomorrow. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:52, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- I should be on an hour or so after the date change ... if it hasn't been done I will do it. I would leave the April 14 date on Nowak intact. It ran more than half the day. Wehwalt (talk) 13:56, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
- Wehwalt sounds good ... since you will be on, I will leave all the adjustments in your hands, as I am actually going to be quite busy for the next 12 to 15 hours ... SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:58, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

"Love Story (Taylor's Version)" single status
[edit]The re-recording was not promoted to radio so per WP:SINGLE? it is not an official single. It did receive an independent digital release though so it would be a promo single. Pinging a few active music editors @Ronherry: @Ss112: @Heartfox: (nonexhaustive) to see if we could reach a consensus regarding its single status. Ippantekina (talk) 03:00, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yes. I agree. It should be reclassified as a promotional single. ℛonherry☘ 04:10, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Where else are people going to find information about the video?
[edit]The video doesn't have its own article. If I were to attempt to create an article about Castle Gwynn, it would be declared non-notable. So if anyone wants to learn about the location or see a photo of it, here is the logical place for it.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:01, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Love Story (Taylor Swift song) → Love Story (song) – This article has a ~100:1 pageview ratio with the Jethro Tull song, the Nadia Ali song and the Melody song combined, a strong case for a WP:PDAB. The Taylor Swift song also has overall long-term significance (eg. topping Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart with both the original master and the re-recording), thus also passing WP:PT1 and WP:PT2. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 22:44, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: This is a very common title for songs. About a dozen non-Swift songs discussed on Wikipedia are known by this title, and about five of them (including some rather well known ones such as an early single released by Jethro Tull) are the subject of stand-alone articles. No harm is done by using an article title that identifies which one the article is talking about. The one by Taylor Swift may be the most popular WP:recently, but its popularity will fade as time move on. — BarrelProof (talk) 23:21, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:PDAB. 162 etc. (talk) 16:49, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose - as there may be the possibility of another well known song with this title so current title seems fine. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 17:30, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- This sounds like WP:CRYSTALBALL to me. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 17:49, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose – I don't know that this meets the higher standard for primary topics that's prescribed by WP:PARTIALDAB. Graham (talk) 17:33, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- If a ~100:1 pageview ratio is not high enough for a WP:PARTIALDAB, I don't know what is. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 17:51, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- (Where Do I Begin?) Love Story gets around a quarter of views[[1]] so if its called "Love Story" more than occasionally then this is unlikely to be enough for a PDAB. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:08, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Per Crouch, Swale. "(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" is what I would think of if I encountered the title "Love Story (song)". And I've never seen the movie. Nor was I born when it came out. It is pretty famous. Srnec (talk) 20:14, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Just as many people know the Andy Williams song of the same name. Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 03:59, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
Why is there a photo of Shania Twain performing?
[edit]Yes, there is a passing mention of Twain in that paragraph — Love Story outperformed Still The One is some perfunctory way — but the inclusion of the Twain photo is inapt for two reasons:
1) It is utterly unmerited by the content, and 2) Because there is a microphone covering much of her face, the photo is easily mistaken as a photo of Taylor Swift
Clearly, this photo was inserted by someone trying to promote Shania Twain. Skydog10291971 (talk) 12:30, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
