Political stance?

The following is a closed discussion. Please do not modify it.

Many newspapers and TV stations in Russia are controlled by Kremlin, either directly, through Gazprom, or by other means. It would be interesting to know if The Moscow Times is loyal to Kremlin, is in opposition to Kremlin, or takes a more neutral or balanced stance. Could somebody include some information on this? Joreberg (talk) 19:20, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Look at the people writing the opinion columns. Most of them aren't even Russian. The topics are like this: "WTO's Tough Medicine Is Good for Russia", "Snowden Doomed to Dreadful Life in a Capsule", "The Cultural Underbelly of Russian Repression". It's not owned by a Russian company. It's owned by a Scandinavian company.
"The Moscow Times" is not just in opposition to the Kremlin, it's owned by foreign opposition to the Kremlin. It's as if PressTV spun off its American news section and called it "The American Times". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.102.158.16 (talk) 05:52, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Notice the following edits which have been removed from the article.[1][2] They are unsourced political opinion, which is why they could be removed. But they indicate that there is more to the story of The Moscow Times than the bland information in the current article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.102.158.16 (talk) 05:58, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was just looking at moscowtimes.com and was surprised that it is so anti Russia with a name like that. This article seems POV with nothing critical of the topic but if no reliable sources say this it is what it is. I do see that moscowtimes stopped allowing comments on their articles, a clear sign of something to hide. I will be on the lookout for sources to improve this article. No, they indicate nothing of the kind. They merely show that someone who is either ignorant of or contemptuous towards the concept of an "encyclopedia" tried to use Wikipedia as a platform for their opinions and was rightly prevented from doing so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.108.180.242 (talk) 14:41, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good point Joreberg, this page isn't great - feel free to get involved! Moscow Media Man (talk) 17:42, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That was my first question, and the reason I came here. Is the Moscow Times like RT? Can it be unbiased? Is any reporting coming out of Russia worth reading, or do the censors destroy that — causing bias by disallowing unapproved opposition or dissent? — Ríco 18:09, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's not like RT which is a Russian news service. Moscow Times is an English-language Dutch publication. Santamoly (talk) 06:04, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Needs update, new owner

[edit]

I understood from Dutch media that the newspaper is, as of 2017, owned by a Dutch foundation and that the main editor is Eva Hartog Skorobogatova /Eva Hartog. See https://www.vn.nl/de-terugkeer-van-derk-sauer-in-de-russische-media/
Will update when I have time. Andries (talk) 10:12, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
