Nu Metal

[edit]

I'm actually agreeing with you on Nu Metal. It is hard to put it into one genre. I really don't think it is a genre or a sub genre. Too Much variety among it. Iamanadam 23:31, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Slipknot GAC

[edit]

You've recently nominated Slipknot as a good article, but I don't think that in its current state, it stands much of a chance. I'm not going to pass or fail it or anything, but there are some changes you definitely need to make. You can see the changes I've made to it, which are mainly just quick fixes. However, you have a few other issues to address.

  1. The injuries section is straight up WP:TRIVIA, which will probably get you nowhere. I saw a raw external link somewhere, which is most of the time a no-no.
  2. The bolding of the collaborators goes against Wikipedia style.
  3. Look at references 26 and 27.
  4. Any references to websites should be done using {{citeweb}} templates, which I can see isn't consistent.

A dick of a reviewer might quick-fail the article on these points, but I'm just going to bring them to your attention so you stand a chance. Seegoon 12:28, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Slipknot Revert

[edit]

Hi, just with Slipknot, was there a reason for reverting this edit? I was making the article in-line with the manual of style. Thanks. Spellcast 00:25, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

My apologies about the revert I thought you removed some information unnecessarily but I now see you just ordered it differently. (Rezter 11:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC))

Hello! I am Smithcool. thank you for letting me adopt you. you are my first adoptee. i have added a userbox to your userpage so everybody knows you are adopted by me. If you have any questions or comments or you are unsure about anything please contact me. i do be on wikipedia everyday so any of your questions will be answered in less than a day. i will be going back to school at the end of the month so i will not be on this that much so try to find out as much as you need before the end of the month. also add your status to your user page and talk page so i know if you are online or not. go to my page and have a look at my status bar and if you like it i will make one for you. thanks again. Smithcool 21:53, 8 August 2007 (UTC).

status

[edit]

there are two ways to have a status:
i can make a status page and you change the status page every time you want to change your status
or
you can change the status individually on each page you have your status.
tell me which you want and i will set it up like mine. Smithcool 23:26, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

i will make it now. Smithcool 23:49, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

new articles

[edit]

the best way to make new articles is too have a look at other articles the same. example: if you are making an article for a punk rock single then have a look at another punk rock single and try to make it the same. Smithcool 23:26, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

status explain

[edit]

i will explain the status bar here.
the set up for it is here. you will not need to change this page but you may want to keep a track of it for the future.
the status page is here. keep track of this page. you will need it to change your status.
all you need to do is change it every time you need to. Smithcool 23:56, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

articles

[edit]

sorry i am taking so long to get back to you on this. the articles are good but as a new user you should start making small edits to articles not making new ones. maybe join a wikiproject. i am in the U2 wikiproject so if you like u2 i would love you to join. have you any other questions or problems?? Smithcool 12:54, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

wikiproject

[edit]

a wikiproject is a group of people who edit a certin topic. in the u2 wikiproject, members try to make all u2 articles better. even if you dont like u2, there are lots and lots of different wikiprojects so just find the one you like. Smithcool 20:18, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

general questions

[edit]

how is everything getting on?? do you need help on anything?? did you find a wikiproject to join?? Smithcool 19:13, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

ye that looks cool. im not sure where but when we think an article should be rated you ask for it to be on a certin page. before you do, leave a message on the article talk page saying you think it is up to GA standard and see what others say about it. Smithcool 19:53, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
did you ask for it to be rated again because he may have deleted it after he gave you the list. Smithcool 20:06, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Slipknot GAC failure

[edit]

Hi Rezter

Nothing personal, but I have to fail this article on several points. Firstly it fails WP:QFC #3, in particular the dispute with Mushroomhead is portrayed in the article as very significant yet is almost entirely unsourced. There are other missing citations and a clarify note (although I can't really see how that point can be clarified). Also check the citations follow any punctuation. The bands image and performance is clearly almost as important as their music, but this doesn't get a mention in the lead-in and in my opinion because of the way the article is constructed, the style, feuds, images and identities sub-sections, despite being a vital part of the bands persona read as borderline WP:TRIVIA. The Collaborators section even more so. It might be an idea to look at how a similar featured article like AC/DC is constructed and develop and rearrange this article on a similar basis. There is some great material here, but in my opinion it still needs quite a bit of work to make WP:GA Mighty Antar 19:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

"Izzy Dunfore"

[edit]

Hi Rezter. Re: Sid Wilson (but also in general), please don't include information about an artist with no Wikipedia article, sourced to his own Myspace. Thanks, Deiz talk 08:40, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Rezter, I'm still unable to see any rationale for your inclusion of this statement. It's very important to engage in dialog with other editors in matters such as these; failing to discuss, adding unreliably sourced information and consistently reverting other editors without explanation are considered undesirable and in some cases disruptive. I note you were adopted by Smithcool, I've asked him to help explain the relevant policies and guidelines at stake here. Given the statement on your userpage - "I...try to provide information which I feel is of a reliable source", you may wish to review Wikipedia:Reliable sources, which emphasizes the importance of independent, peer-reviewed sources. As I am sure you agree, Myspace is none of those things. I suggest you create an appropriate article compliant with WP:BIO about Izzy Dunfore before attemping to write about him on other Wikipedia pages, this would solve the problem. Thanks, Deiz talk 10:52, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
So it's an upcoming album, mentioned on a message board? I don't doubt it may be true, but WP demands a bit more than that. The source is only half of the issue - in what way is "Izzy Dunfore" notable? It's hard to justify the significance of the information, and WP is an encyclopedia.. I'm sure Sid Wilson fans are monitoring boards and forums for all the latest Sid info and gossip, it just may take a little longer for it to become encyclopedic. If ID is notable, you could first create an article about him, then make the reference. Deiz talk 11:20, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

recent edits

[edit]

User:Deiz has told me you are adding a few new articles to WP with very little or no information about them. Do you mind not. For a new user you should just make small edits to current pages and not make new ones. thanks. Smithcool 11:48, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Not making new articles, just adding (and reverting / re-adding without comment or explanation) information about a non-notable individual with Myspace as a source.. I'm happy to help with any mentoring on edits and articles big and small :) Deiz talk 12:26, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PendulumLogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PendulumLogo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:ChrisFehn&ShawnCrahanLondon2004.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ChrisFehn&ShawnCrahanLondon2004.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:06, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Slipknot peer review

[edit]

Sorry, but I'm simply too busy at this time to offer a peer review. Good luck with the article, though! – Scartol • Tok 17:01, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
