LSU Tiger Trails

LSU Tiger Trails is the transit system that provides free bus service to the Louisiana State University campus and surrounding East Baton Rouge area. Its main passengers are LSU students but faculty, staff, and people living along any of the routes also use the service. The times of operation vary depending on the route, time of day, and time of the year. There is a day service, summer service, a Sunday shuttle, night service, and routes for holidays.

All the buses in the Tiger Trails system are equipped to accomodate those with disabilities. If a passenger's needs cannot be met and further assistance is required, then they can contact the Office of Parking, Traffic, and Transportation at 225-578-5000. Also, if someone lives in an area that is not serviced by Tiger Trails, they can contact CATS (Capital Area Transit System) On Demand at 225-929-7740.

LSU's student government works along with the Office of Parking, Traffic, and Transportation to come up with ways to improve the routes to be more efficient and reach more areas surrounding LSU. Here is a list of all the routes provided with the Highland-Ben Hur route being the latest one to be added:

TransLoc

Louisiana State University debuted the TransLoc Visualization System (TVS) on August 1st of 2009. TransLoc Transit Visualization allows the user to see the real-time arrival information of a bus while on the go. Up to the minute announcements about situations that impact busses can also be viewed. The app is available for BlackBerry, iPhone, and Android users. Other phones are able to access the service via the mobile web or by using SMS text messaging. To use the mobile web site the phone must have internet capabilities and be compatible with HTML or WAP to access http://lsu.transloc.com/m/. To use the text messaging service the user would have to first find the stop code to their desired stop. This can be found by going to the main map and clicking on the stop for which the code is needed. When the code is obtained, the user must text lsu and the stop code to 41411 and they will receive real-time arrival times via text. Other schools that are using TransLoc include:
