Sussex Counry Cricket Club

[edit]

Ah:) As a Surrey member, I doubt I'm the man to write on Sussex. Maybe you'd like to add your name to Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket and have a bash yourself? :) Kind regards, jguk 15:36, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

List of Open University Alumni

[edit]

Whilst I think that it is tempting to add Wikipedia users (including both of us), I don't think it is the right thing to do. I have tried to restrict it to famous/notable people - otherwise it would be a rather long list! Can you find any other example of a list of people where users are included? User:Fountainofignorance

Christian Wirth ... *sigh*

[edit]

Could you monitor the Christian Wirth page again (I see you already voted to delete it. I'm turning in right now and don't have the energy to wrestle away the POV/Rant properly. Thanks in advance --Sp00n17 08:32, Jan 3, 2005 (UTC)

Looks like it all turned out okay. Eventually the vandalism stopped. --sp00n17 17:10, Jan 6, 2005 (UTC)

thanks!

[edit]

Oops. Thanks for fixing my messed-up redirect for Borel-Weil theorem.

Thank you

I had been debating whether titles should be put in quotes. Logologist 11:42, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Fourth dimension

[edit]

Of course not. However, the way it looks, it seems to be taking more of a physics-related bent, and I am unfortunately no physicist. But I will try my best :) Dysprosia 12:46, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I have added a lot of stuff and tried to introduce the concept of a dimension by linking space to a vector space, very very gently. There should be a bit more, but for the moment, I hope it looks suitable. Do let me know if it isn't or there's something wrong. Dysprosia 13:36, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

CSD (again)

[edit]

Sorry to sound like a broken record here, but please be a bit more discriminative with your CSD markings. VfD is a hassle, I know, but we must abide by policy. --fvw* 00:43, 2005 Jan 6 (UTC)

British Library, Add. MS 5111. 7th century Gospel Book fragment

[edit]

See my last comments (which I'm about to add right now!) in the VfD debate. Given the number of hoax and prank entries we get I don't think it was unreasonable to want verification that the the MS actually exists, but this article didn't "smell like" a hoax and the contributor's user page seems to indicate a real contributor with a serious interest in the subject matter. A few polite words from you to soothe any ruffled feathers might not be out of place. Dpbsmith (talk) 15:50, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. It's not my article, and my feathers are not ruffled! What I had in mind was your saying something to the contributor, User:Dsmdgold, either on the VfrD discussion or on his Talk page. Ah. just saw your correction. Cheers! Dpbsmith (talk) 16:42, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your apology. Actually I think you might have helped a bit. As you pointed out constructing long, hybrid names can raise a few eyebrows. Unfortunately, for many manuscripts these types of names are the only ones possible unless we want to make up names that no one else will recognize. However, to formalize things, I have made a proposal for naming articles about manuscripts with no names. It can be found here. Any comments you feel like making would be appreciated. Nice idea on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sido to disambiguate at SIDO. I've moved the article and removed the VFD tag; you want to do the disambig? I always seem to find 15 ways to mess it up when I try. Joyous 03:16, Jan 19, 2005 (UTC)

Transwiki

[edit]

I am not at all sure what you mean. I am transwikiing articles from Wikipedia to Wiktionary where they belong. And they don't need to be deleted unless it's proper. If, by "us" you meant Wiktionary, there are a few reasons that it's better to transwiki marginal articles. First of all, it doesn't hurt Wiktionary at all. Articles in the transwiki don't necessarily need deletion at all. They're not cluttering anything up, as no readers will find them, only Wiktionarians dealing with them. And on Wikipedia, I've seen worse dicdefs that have been decided for transwiki at VfD than push. It's just the way people like to vote at VfD. So it is more efficient to have it transwikied before it goes to VfD, since that's where these usually end up, and avoid having to list it twice. Anything that is transwikied doesn't have to be used at all, in fact, that's what the template warns. --Dmcdevit 18:36, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

IMHO your proposal belongs to Meta, like all the others at meta:Proposals for new projects. An article in the main namespace of Wikipedia should only be added after the project is created, and also has turned out to be a living Wiki. andy 16:43, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

Chem -stub

[edit]

Can I remind you about the {{chem-stub}} tag, which will make sure all the small Chemistry articles you're creating will be flagged up as stubs. It would be helpful if you could add it when you're creating the article! Thanks The Land 11:09, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

WikiProject Cricket

[edit]

Hi Knaggs, I saw your excellent cricket-related contribution in Wiktionary. Although you don't edit on Wikipedia as often you may still consider joining WikiProject Cricket. Could you expand on the List of cricket terms page, transferring the definitions on the Wiktionary page to there. Help is always needed! Thanks! DaGizza Chat (c) 23:39, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
