The potential flow issuing from a stagnant pressurized container through an aperture(i.e slit) in a wall is a classic problem in Fluid Mechanics. Part of the solution entails determining the location of the bounding streamlines that separate the resulting free jet from the surrounding stagnant air, making this problem part of the larger class of free-boundary problems that may be found in the fluid mechanics literature of potential flows.
