Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello IP user. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Walter Görlitz, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge. Although you're free to perform most tasks on Wikipedia without registering, it's highly recommended you create an account as there are many added benefits. It's private and secure and it's also free, simple, and quick to do.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you could put a link to it on your user page.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this IP's talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:08, 16 October 2020 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)[reply]

Teahouse logo

Hi 76.103.46.252! The thread you created at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, Sources, has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days (usually at least two days, and sometimes four or more). You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please feel free to create a new thread.

The archival was done by Lowercase sigmabot III, and this notification was delivered by Muninnbot, both automated accounts. You can opt out of future notifications by placing {{bots|deny=Muninnbot}} here on your user talk page. Muninnbot (talk) 19:02, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Madrid Derby

[edit]

Hi, just before you spend much more of your time adding fixture boxes for every match ever played, please be aware they aren't going to remain on the page in the current format, which takes up too much space and gives far too much prominence to friendlies, reserve matches etc. Compare this to the meetings in major competitions which are recorded in a more basic display. So please consider adapting your future additions (I'm aware there are many more matches from the Campeonato Centro, for example) to reflect how the existing information is shown. Crowsus (talk) 17:23, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Crowsus: I copied the fixture boxes from Real season pages, and I had planned to copy every one of those fixture boxes up to the present day, but I understand what you are saying and I will try to convert them to the established style if I can. 76.103.46.252 (talk) 17:47, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, another minor thing is that they currently show from the Real point of view, "3-1 win" in green etc, but that's easily fixed (by removing the result=W/D/L parameter). Crowsus (talk) 18:20, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: 1916 Copa Aldao has been accepted

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

You may wish to consider registering an account so you can create articles yourself.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

If you would like to help us improve this process, please consider leaving us some feedback.

Thanks again, and happy editing!

Transfermarkt

[edit]

Since much of its content is user-edited, Transfermarkt is not considered a reliable source. Please do not cite the website in articles. Thank you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:42, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sir Sputnik: I have never found a single thing on Transfermarkt that is a lie. 76.103.46.252 (talk) 01:17, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Fernandinho (footballer, born May 1985), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:39, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

If you want people to call you a certain name, you should register for an account. Using an edit summary to ask people to refer to you by a certain name is an inappropriate thing to do, since the edit summary is supposed to - well - summarise the edit you just made. – PeeJay 19:04, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Torna

[edit]

Please note that disambiguation pages like Torna are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

Hi I noticed you added information on the Radivoj Panić article without a source. You mentioned that you have a source if you have one and can provide it for me then I'll handle the rest. Thanks Shotgun pete (talk) 10:00, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Elio Castro has been reverted.
Your edit here to Elio Castro was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/c/Castro1021, https://www.youtube.com/user/fatdoggmendoza) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. music or video) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.

However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Information icon Hello, I'm HelenDegenerate. I noticed that you recently removed content from Ghana national under-20 football team without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. @HelenDegenerate: The whole page was outdated, and those parts especially were old squads with no relevance. I tried to put in an edit summary, but accidentally pushed enter before I was done writing. 76.103.46.252 (talk) 22:00, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Yeboah Amankwah article, and I couldn't find one either. If you have a reliable source please let me know and we can change the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 10:01, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry @GiantSnowman:, I saw something that said he had played for the team but it was really only a call-up.
