Hi. When you recently edited List of air show accidents and incidents, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Glider and Uvalde (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Information icon Your recent edit to Davenport West High School appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Information icon Hello, I'm Politrukki. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Shawn Johnson, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Politrukki (talk) 12:56, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On what basis do you think you have the right to tell someone they cannot edit a Wikipedia page? The above page does not belong to you, nor does it belong to the school. It is an encyclopedia page about the school. Anyone is welcome to edit any page on Wikipedia, however you must abide by our policies and content guidelines. The guideline for that graphic in the upper right corner of the article (infobox school) says we do not list interim job holders. When the positions are permanently filled, feel free to add the new names at that time. Until then, please leave it blank. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 14:21, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Bettendorf High School. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. John from Idegon (talk) 14:57, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adam....Please stop and talk. This is a collaborative project. Bulling your preferred version of an article in will only lead to your editing privileges being suspended. Content is guided by guidelines, but is approved by consensus established on the article talk page. If you can foist a convincing argument as to why we should list the interim principal and superintendent on this article, when guidelines say we don't, perhaps a consensus could be formed. However, this is a binary question and there really isn't a place to compromise. So....you'd have to foist a mighty convincing arguement. As content is decided on consensus, it's generally advisable to choose your battles wisely. John from Idegon (talk) 15:24, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

November 2016

[edit]

Please stop making disruptive edits, as you did at Bettendorf High School.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. nothing has changed...we still do not list interim officeholders. district's website lists him as interim. John from Idegon (talk) 18:08, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Chicago Blackhawks; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

Hey Adam, how's it going? My name is HickoryOughtShirt?4 and I'm an administrator on English Wikipedia who happens to also be a hockey fan . I noticed you seemed to be edit warring on the Chicago Blackhawks article and am asking you to please stop and talk. On Wikipedia, we have a guideline called Bold, Revert, Discuss which means if someone reverts your edit (or vice versa) you discuss it on the article's talk page. The goal of this is to reach a consensus that will not be decided based on who faster at the undo button. Please, please discuss this on the article's talk page for edit warring can lead to blocks. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:09, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago Blackhawks

[edit]

Let me explain to you why your edit was removed. It was removed because its nothing but trivial material that is one of the best examples of recentism that I've seen in a very long time. In five or ten years no one is going to care that Chicago put a sticker on their helmets. Now I can understand why you might be upset that your edit was removed, but continually re-adding your edit is just going to get you blocked. Honestly the choice is yours as to what you do but I will urge you to use caution in your approach. Deadman137 (talk) 03:25, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why can't I add the Chicago Blackhawks' new decal that they are wearing on their helmets for the entire playoffs? It follows the rules of that section of a new addition to their uniforms. It is factual and in the guidelines of wikipedia. Honestly it needs to be added as it's a new addition to the uniform. It tells everyone that they have added it as well to their uniforms.

You have to remember that just because something is true and verified does not guarantee that it's encyclopedic or significant enough to warrant coverage. They did not change the uniform, they added a sticker to their helmets, something that teams do all the time.
This is not a conversation about whether or not your edit is true, its a conversation about how relevant this is to the overall article. Now in situations like this, a lot of times we will look to similar articles to see what the relevant standard is. Even if you just read the same section in the other original six team's articles you'll notice that all five of them have nothing like what you're trying to add to this article. The reason for this, is because things like a decal are barely relevant on large scale when they happen and they lose what little relevance they had quickly thereafter. Deadman137 (talk) 16:25, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What do you have against the new "#WeSkateFor Equality" roundel patch on the helmets? It's a new patch on the uniform that is unique and they are wearing on an in-game uniform. Besides, I have contributed heavily in this section if you go back to the reversion edits of the original post for this jersey section on a few of these new uniforms from 2008-onwards..

Editing someone's comments to make it appear out of context is frowned upon around here. Something else that is severely frowned upon, is using an IP address to try and hide your editing activity. At this point you have no counter argument and you're just here to push your viewpoint. It would be in your best interest to drop this and walk away, especially after the stunt you pulled earlier. Deadman137 (talk) 16:01, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Re-adding your preferred edit again and again is still edit warring. Do yourself favour and move on from this. Deadman137 (talk) 16:20, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
