Israeli settlements in the West Bank

[edit]

Hi, Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are not in Israel. Therefore the location should be "West Bank" and not "Israel". This is not just my personal opinion: "West Bank" or "the West Bank" (capitalized) is the most commonly used name for the land area known by that name, and is to be used (WP:WESTBANK). Hi. Thank you for your message. But there is no need to mention it in every place. It's enough to link it to the wiki article, which talks about it. Atbannett (talk) 04:59, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BLP sources

[edit]

You just made unsourced additions to Yehuda Fox, Eytan Fox, and David Fox (lawyer). Can you support the relationship with a reliable source? (Note that Wikipedia is not a reliable source, although reliable sources do not need to be in English.) Otherwise, the material probably does not belong, per WP:DUE, WP:NOTINDISCRIMINATE, and our strict WP:BLP rules. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 19:40, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comment. The source for the Hebrew Wikpedia article is in this book, about Rabbi David Fox, Yehuda's father. You can see here, on page 16, where he describes the family connection. You can also see here that David, General Fox's father is writing in memory of "my older brother" Prof. Seymour Fox, Eytan and David's father. Atbannett (talk) 01:27, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The second source looks like WP:SYNTH, but the first source looks somewhat credible. Do you want to go and add it as a source in the articles? Russ Woodroofe (talk) 13:26, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! Done. Thank you, Atbannett (talk) 21:37, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Atbannett. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Marius Nacht, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Atbannett. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Atbannett|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. scope_creepTalk 22:37, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. I did not receive any compensation, nor do I expect to. You can watch my lecture in Wikimania a few weeks ago, to see why people contact me all the time about Wikipedia and I always tell them that I do it as a volunteer. Atbannett (talk) 07:44, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Atbannett: for getting back to me. scope_creepTalk 14:59, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
