Vandalism

Please do not vandalise my talk-page or you will be blocked from Wikipedia. Best wishes, 138.38.32.84 19:10, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I understand the concern that Wikipedia links not be used for advertizing and self promotion. However, FranksFilms does NOT feature any advertizing. Most other regular film links, such as "Internet Movie Database", "Rotten Tomatoes", and "Roger Ebert", are crazy with advertizing and use such links to draw eyes to that advertizing. FranksFilms does NOT engage in promotion. The author's name doesn't appear on the site, and thus does not benefit from increased hits.

Feedback has been very positive that readers have found useful insights and information from the site. However, I would not want to violate Wikipedia policy by contributing such links to these movie pages. Rather, I would prefer to work within the rules.

Would you consider the merits of the links, or, would you suggest ways to improve my contributions within the current standards?

Joel Michaely

I tagged Joel Michaely for speedy deletion. Any of WP:CSD A1, A3, A7, or G11, might apply. Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:31, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

True, it's a bit of stretch, but a weblink to the guy's website and his IMDB page is effectively advertising when there's not an article to go along with the links. I'm not suggesting that you're spamming or anything like that. It's just that it could, depending on who sees it, end up tagged that way. "No context" or "empty" are the most obvious ones though. Are you wanting to expand it? I can remove the tag if you like. Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

To let you know that Casino Royale (2006 film) has undergone improvement in the last week and I have now nominated it for Wikipedia:Featured article candidates. Thanks for the invite to the Wiki Africa project. I have signed up and will continue to try to enhance African material. Gallador 14:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Equatorial Guinea etc

The following was added to User talk:Belovedfreak/Userboxes:

So explain to me how the claim that Equatorial Guinea is "the smallest Spanish-speaking country in the world" is correct? A very simple check of the size of El Salvador reveals it is smaller. Another simple bit of reading reveals it to also be a Spanish speaking country (Spanish-speaking countries). So... Splain that to me. How about smallest Spanish-speaking country in Africa? I'd buy that. Rob5691 02:23, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Reverted Editing

Thank you for the correction. Beleive me that when I reviewed the addition, I saw it was odd between the other lines, unfortunately I did not have enough time for the correction. haythamabulela 04:54, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: Vandalism

I didn't know that actually. In my pursuit of the Calendar days it is good to know that. Thanks very much for the heads-up. I will certainly keep it in mind! -- Borameer 18:58, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

The editor I reverted on that page spent about an hour inserting incorrect birth name/date information into two dozen articles. This is a clear vandal and I really don't have time to post messages on their talk page about how I disagree with their edits, and so on. It was a hassle enough reverting all of the vandalism. Mad Jack 17:23, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, I figure vandals vandalize because they want attention. If you just revert them and move on, you're not giving them the attention they want. If you warn them, then you're playing along. I could be wrong, but... Mad Jack 17:56, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

The Hours

If bipolar is part of the story, surely you can find an online plot description that mentions bipolar disorder. The keyword list is an iffy reference because it doesn't clarify why that's a keyword. Doczilla 23:51, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Yeah. Just typing this search into my search engine produced several sources: "The Hours" bipolar Kidman Doczilla 23:52, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Clare Teal

Hi. You recently reverted all the changes I made to the Clare Teal page.

Firstly, we (Sony BMG Music Entertainment) own the copyright to the text and images I added.

Secondly, some of the information on the page was incorrect/out of date.

Thirdly, there was missing information.

Please can you revert back to the changes I made.

Thanks — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rikd (talkcontribs) 13:08, 15 May 2007.

Need help with editing on film

Please take a look at Abby Singer (film). I have quesions? The credits have changed from the imdb listing for that the IMDB listing was added in 2003 and the film is getting a full release in 2007 and the film has been re-edited, re-cut, has a new soundtrack, all new music, and new composer. Please see the film official website http://www.abbysingermovie.com. Thanks for you help. I just need to find out the best way to fix and edit this in wikipedia. It is important for the film and producers because of the star cameos and such. Again thanks. Wembly Hall Theatre Company 20:21, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

But I'm a Cheeleader!

I went back through the article and re-commented in Peer Review. As I say there, I think the article could be really close to being a GA. Nice work! FilmFemme 20:13, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Your opinion would be greatly appreciated

Hello there, I am a fellow member of Wikiproject jazz. I was wondering, if you had a moment to spare, if you would be willing to give your opinion on a matter at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 June 15 concerning a category I created. The category is [[Category:Jazz musicians of New Orleans]], and it has been proposed that the article be merged with Musicians of New Orleans and American jazz musicians. This is precisely why I created the category, because it seemed to me the birthplace of jazz music and continous modern symbol of jazz certainly deserves a category unto itself. Regardless of your opinion, I would greatly appreciate your input there so as to have a discussion over the matter. Thanks. (Mind meal 03:24, 15 June 2007 (UTC))

Once (film)

Hi there -- just wanted to alert you to the fact that the entry for Once is no longer a stub, in case you wanted to stop by and reassess it. Thanks! Melty girl 09:33, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick answer. I'll check it all out. Melty girl 17:01, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Eddie Izzard

Thanks for catching that removal of the LGBT tag on the Izzard page; I'm at work today and prolly would have missed it since, unlike previous changers of that tag, they didn't post 'he's not LGBT!' when doing so. :-P The funny thing is, I've twice been told I have a vested interest in that tag (which I don't, really, he's Izzard and great no matter what he is), but he's said what he is, in and out of his act. I don't understand the resistance to it. Anyway, thanks! --Thespian 17:59, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

New categories for jazz musicians

Hello fellow member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Jazz! I am delivering this message to all members of the project to inform them of a major addition to the evolution of this project. Please see Category:Jazz musicians by genre to familiarize yourselves with the new categories for jazz musicians. Most of the genre categories contain sub-genres in their drop-down menus, so be sure to open them up! I am sending this to everyone to speed up the population of these categories. The sub-genres have been carefully researched to ensure they belong under their corresponding "mother genre"! And please, when in doubt do not categorize something via an assumption. Well, that about covers it! Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.(Mind meal 05:47, 25 June 2007 (UTC))

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome and heads-up on what can/can't be added to the site. I'll continue to contribute where I can and with info that's not promotional.

Thx — The preceding unsigned comment was added by HotelDesk (talkcontribs) 13:28, 30 June 2007.
