PSP game covers

[edit]

Hi, I see you've been uploading many PSP game covers. The template {{gamecover}} accepts various platforms as a parameter, so could you use

{{|gamecover|PlayStation Portable}}

for PSP covers and

{{|gamecover|Nintendo 64}}

for N64 covers and so on. Thankyou. Timkovski 19:14, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where it says "tl" is that where I insert the title of the video game? Throw 19:18, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. I'll update the covers. Throw 19:15, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, sorry, that was a typo, I just updated it. Just put the name of the system after the word gamecover. You can see the platforms the template accepts here Category:Video game covers, thanks for that. Timkovski 19:28, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the correction. I'm wondering if you can help me once again. I want to setup the PSP covers I've replaced for speedy delation so they won't eat up space on Wikipedia. Do you know how I can do that? Throw 19:44, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, make sure the image isn't being used on any page, then just add the template {{db|reason}}, replacing the word reason with your reason for deleteing the image, Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion might help. Timkovski 20:04, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TMNT 2003 AfD tags

[edit]

Sorry about that - I thought the closing admin had taken care of it. They should all be gone now. If you find any more, please do me a favor and just delete them yourself - I'm attempting to take a wikibreak at the moment because of the Wisconsin midterm elections. I do feel a bit frustrated with the whole experience - I think it should be easier to nominate whole bundles of articles for deletion and do whatever cleanup is necessary afterwards, and I don't believe that the Pokémon test should be a valid argument at WP:AFD. I don't see the utility of separate articles for episodes when a list with the plot summaries (with a particularly notable or controversial episode getting its own article) would suffice. And, for the record, I'm not picking on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 TV series) - the same standard should apply to The Simpsons or any other TV show. It just happened that I ran across one TMNT 2003 episode that had been prodded and contested, so, as prod policy dictates, I took it to AfD. I'm working on an essay on the topic and would appreciate any thoughts you would be willing to contribute. --JaimeLesMaths (talk!edits) 05:01, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Throw! I know you have done a lot of work on the Heavens to Betsy page, so I thought you might be interested to know that the article on Sarah Jacobson( whose film "I Was a Teenage Serial Killer" featured music by Heavens to Betsy) has been nominated for deletion. If you would like to vote to keep the article on this important female director, please go to this page [1] and add your comments. thanks -Intheshadows 11:17, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Intheshadow. Thanks for letting me know about the article for deletion. I've opposed it and it's currently winning by one vote. Hopefully it'll stay that way. Thanks again. Take care. - Throw 07:07, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, Throw. Thanks so much for voting and adding your comment. Let's hope the Sarah Jacobson article stays!-Intheshadows 12:53, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sylvia Browne may be wrong again

[edit]

I recently read they found more 9/11 debris and remains in the last couple of weeks. The woman who asked her if they'd ever find her lost firefighter Sylvia said was under water and wouldn't be found, could join the list of people given wrong info by her. Do you think she is a fraud (knows she isn't psychic) or just a deluded fool? Anynobody 22:40, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's certainly encouraging news, Anynobody. Thanks for the notice. Do you have a source for that so it can be added to the article?
My opinion of Browne is that she's a cold reading fraud with no conscience. That's the only way I think she should lie to so many people for so long. The progression of her act is actually pretty easy to track. In the early 1990s she would look up as if taking dictation from a ghost and utter "Uhhh...yeah...okay" as if she was listening to someone talk. She doesn't do that anymore. She also used to pretend to have her 'spirit guide' Francine enter her body and she'd act as if she was the 'spirit guide.' She stopped doing that in the late 1990s. I guess her range was limited. ;) - Throw 23:53, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't put it in the article just yet but here is one example: WNYC. I agree that she is a fraud, her predictions are always so "safe". 9 times out of 10 if a kid gets kidnapped and is missing for years, they are dead just like she told the Hornbecks. Same goes for her prediction about not finding any remains of the fireman, at the time I would have made the same prediction she did. What are the odds of finding his dna in the WTC mess? The odds are still pretty slim, so she is probably safe, but then again maybe she isn't. Since I think she is a fraud, I think she must be stressing about it. She just tried to have stopsylviabrowne.com shut down too, which tells me shes afraid other predictions will turn out be false and be documented online. Anynobody 02:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your question I played around with the imagesize parameter in the infobox. I left a comment there. The picture is actually 263 x 345 pixels, so my guess of 260 was close. I went looking for documentation and found Template:Infobox Writer/doc which says a little.

Thing is, with all the other text in the infobox it is going to be pretty wide anyway. Play with changing the pixel width and previewing, but it is probably pretty close to 'good' without changes? Shenme 18:15, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Shenme. The topic is moot because I e-mailed the photograph's author to get permission to use it and he wasn't all too happy about it, so I had to remove it. Thanks for the effort, though. I'm still going to scout for a fair use image. - Throw 23:55, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw your edit summary.   :-(   Even if I understand some of the issues and complexities, so many pages look so 'bare' without pictures. I hope you can find one. Thanks. Shenme 00:04, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Superman

[edit]

According to this edit, you did not provide an edit summary explaining your minour edit. However, instead of reverting you, may I ask why you did it? Superman is a fictional character, not simply a character. ~I'm anonymous

I used Batman as a precedence. It also says "character", not "fictional character". If you feel the distinction needs to be made please make the change. I won't oppose it. - Throw 02:55, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'll change Batman's and Superman's to demonstrate the differences between character and fictional character. ~I'm anonymous

Please take a look at Controversies over the film Sicko and comment on merge proposal

[edit]

Hi,

The title says it all. I am requesting your opinion only because you've edited the Sicko (film) article and therefore appear to have an interest in the movie. I created the "Controversies" article and think it should stay, but I'd welcome your opinion whatever it is. If you consider this message annoying, I apologize. I'm leaving this message with you and some others without violating WP:CANVASS. I won't be leaving another message asking you to comment again. Noroton 23:20, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GTA IV PDF

[edit]

Hello, I've put the PDF indicators back into the GTA IV article because it is a requirement of WP:EXTERNAL. I know it looks horrible but...
I gather from your talk above that you worked on the Jack Thompson section of the article and so might be the person that added the PDF links, if so would you have any objection if I converted them to full citations? That would mean that the PDF logo would only appear in the References section. - X201 08:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds good to me, X201. Yes, the main reason is that it makes the section look ugly. - Throw 10:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Throw,

I read your suggestion about changing the South Korean hostage article to say that the South Koreans were murdered, to imply that a criminal act of homicide was committed. In reading your suggestion and I thought about the meaning behind murdered and killed and I agree with your suggestion. Thus, I have made it voiced that it should be changed, but I am meeting some serious arguments about this. It would help if someone else would say something about this matter so it doesnt appear completely one-sided. 74.243.81.189 19:32, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PSP-GripShift-FrontCover.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:PSP-GripShift-FrontCover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Orphaned non-free media (Image:MarkTwainPrizeLogo.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MarkTwainPrizeLogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Criticism of Sylvia Browne

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Criticism of Sylvia Browne, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I have tagged File:CoolRunningsAltPoster.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. Otherwise, it will be deleted in seven days. Garion96 (talk) 11:17, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:TheGoodThiefMoviePoster.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TheGoodThiefMoviePoster.jpg.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:17, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Slant 6 Promotional Photograph.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Slant 6 Promotional Photograph.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:52, 8 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 03:52, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Brats4-1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Brats4-1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:31, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In addition to the "form letter", I wanted to say personally that I appreciate your tracking down the photographer of this image, but I'm afraid that there are some problems with his permission. He would need to specify the license under which it is being used, especially as your request to him might be read to suggest that the image is being permitted for Wikipedia only. We recommend you use Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. If he is willing to license the content, his permission will need to be mailed to the Wikimedia Foundation as set out above. I did a search of the Foundation's e-mail permission system, and did not find any record that permission is filed there. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:31, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
How the fuck do you expect me to contact the owner of the image? It was four years ago. - Chavando (talk) 18:27, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I had the permission of the owner of Brats4-1.jpg to use his image. Because of you I contacted him again and sent he personally sent his permission to Wikipedia. I forwarded the email telling me he was fine with his image being used in the Bratmobile article and the image was still deleted. Now I'm going to have to upload the image all over again. Nice going, asshole. - Chavando (talk) 15:17, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've already been notified below that personal attacks aren't permitted on Wikipedia. Neither are images that are only permitted for use on Wikipedia. A specific license is necessary for us to retain this material. But here's good news for you: when usable permission is obtained, you don't have to do anything at all. Administrators can not only delete images, but we can restore them, too. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:25, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from File:Brats4-1.jpg, an image page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the image should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 03:13, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on User_talk:Moonriddengirl#Nice_going. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. You are welcome to rephrase your comment as a civil criticism of the article. Thank you. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

[edit]

Hello, I will haunt your page this one time. Would you come over and look at the talk page for the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone? I have argued some dumb things there...but it comes down to the listing of this title officially must be: "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, a.k.a. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".

This is academically proper, as any work bearing more than one well-known title must have the 'alias' titles listed with it, but the people over there are so English-centric, and so bigoted that they even say "philosopher" means something different in England than in America. Well I say the title listing is important, and they look like fools using only the original British title--pretending the U.S. title never happened.

I'd be much obliged. Please forgive my inability to put a link in for you.76.195.86.50 (talk) 18:04, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:PSP-WorkTimeFun-USVersion-FrontCover.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:PSP-WorkTimeFun-USVersion-FrontCover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. I have nominated Read my lips: no new taxes for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. Proposed deletion of Direction (song)

[edit]

The article Direction (song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, no claim of notability, fails WP:GNG and WP:NSONGS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB.
