[edit]

Hello, Diopic. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page George Hamilton (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Dire Straits, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Robvanvee 05:59, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't put an album footer or a single footer at the bottom of musical artist biographies. Album stuff goes with album articles, and single stuff goes with song articles. This kind of reversion without discussion and consensus is edit warring, and can lead to a block. Binksternet (talk) 22:59, 6 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop, thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:13, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to List of awards and nominations received by Lady Gaga does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Grammy Award for Record of the Year, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. In the future, please use the edit summary field as noted above and review the edit summaries of those who revert your edits. Continuing to re-enter edits without explanation -- for edits that have been reverted by others with explanation -- is disruptive editing. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Grammy Award for Record of the Year into Grammy Award for Album of the Year. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:30, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at 25 (Adele album), you may be blocked from editing. Please start using edit summary or your edits will be construed as vandalism.IB [ Poke ] 12:00, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, why you are so rude? i'm just add some archive links from archive.org, in case if original was deleted or broken. it's not vandalism or something like that. I hope you won't take offence. Diopic (talk) 15:31, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is not related to rudeness, you have been asked time and time again to start using edit summaries which every editor in Wikipedia should adhere to. You seem to pay no attention to these messages. I can see that you have started using edit summaries so its good now and please continue to do so. —IB [ Poke ] 11:45, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. I reverted your recent edits at List of awards and nominations received by Meryl Streep because the current standard for award-related pages is to have all the awards in one table (such as this article). Damian Vo (talk) 17:54, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kimia Hosseini moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Kimia Hosseini, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Emma Stone win Volpi Cup for Best Actress is well known fact and has references at her List of awards and nominations received by Emma Stone
There needs to be something in the main article about it, along with a source, or the category cannot be applied, per WP:CATV

Meryl Streep filmography (TV)

[edit]

As per WP:FILMOGRAPHY for the notes column: 'This field is to include optional, additional information such as medium, episode titles, alternate titles, or awards – when there is no separate "Awards" section in the given article – and possibly sourcing. This field is to be rendered "unsortable", as it will contain a variety of information that is not likely to be usefully sortable. Do not list the number of episodes if the role is a starring or major recurring role if it is unsourced – if the role does not cover the entire run of a television program, list the seasons involved instead.'

I have seen that you added genres to Meryl Streep's TV filmography but above text does not mention the inclusion of genres like 'Animated Series'. Please stop doing this as this is not necessary. Virin1009 (talk) 17:07, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Minor and not-so-minor edits

[edit]
Hello, I'm BlackcurrantTea. I clicked on your contributions out of curiosity, and I noticed you've marked all of your recent edits as minor; yet some I looked at, such as this, this, and this, aren't actually minor. It's an understandable mistake – I often did the same thing when I was starting out here.

The Wikipedia definition of minor is different to what most of us expect. I reviewed Help:Minor edit many times, trying to decide if the changes I was making were minor. It helped me to think of a minor edit as a change that a reader is unlikely to notice (unless it's reverting obvious vandalism: this also counts as minor). Maybe it fixes a typo, or corrects the format of a reference without adding any new information. It doesn't change or add anything very noticeable to the page, and other editors are unlikely to dispute it.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, you can reply to me here; I'll keep your talk page on my watchlist for a bit. Happy editing! BlackcurrantTea (talk) 20:13, 29 June 2020 (UTC) Oh, thank you! I didn't realise that adding some facts its not minor edit. Sorry for bothering you by this.[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Album requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer BAFTA Award winners. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Fram (talk) 07:01, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
