A better idea is to wait for the deletion review's conclusion instead of "acting unilaterally." Fulfilling the desire of those who wish to see an individual of disputed notability (who isn't mentioned in the article, but probably will be soon) "because he looks weird" arguably goes against the spirit of the deletion that remains under review. We had this as a protected red link, and now it's a blue link that can be used to extend the disgusting ridicule to a medical condition that Brian Peppers might or might not have (in the interest of placating the gawkers). • I undid the redirect, not because I think it's a terrible idea that must be squashed, but because there's no clear reason to believe that Crouson is what Peppers has. According to the Snopes article, it might be Apert syndrome or Crouzon syndrome, but nobody really knows (except Peppers and his doctors, I guess). Actrapid PROD

I was trying to help out with the orphans (of which it was one), and when I tried to figure out what page should link to it, I found (by searching Google) some indication that it is apparently a brand name of insulin put out by Novo_Nordisk. However, I can't find a good source that it is still an active drug name. Originally when I found the page, the sole sentence on it made some reference to the "now defunct" drug that had been "replaced" by Novorapid. I have no idea if that's true or not, but it didn't seem a particularly useful page . . . It was my first attempt to nominate something for deletion. I would like to delete this image because it is on the Commons, but I do not know which GFDL tag is correct (Do we need to keep disclaimers or not?). I thought the idea behind blocking was to prevent abuse to Wikipedia, rather than to punish. Deleted Wiki On WIC Exchange

Excuse me, you have incorrectly deleted a wiki I wrote about Australian company WIC Exchange Pty Ltd. This article took me a very long time to write, and I believe I had written it according to the specifications outlined by Wikipedia. Is it that you have something against the production of an article about an Australian company? This article was certainly NOT spam, and I would appreciate it's immediate return. This is the rudest and most inappropriate action I have witnessed from a Wikipedia contributor since I have registered. Please return this article - even Australian companies deserve to have a mention in Wikipedia for the things they have done right in the past or present.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Beerwombatau (talk • contribs).

While DragonflySixtyseven may have deleted the article (not a wiki, an article.) for being spam, I think there is another issue here: notability. Wikipedia has notability guidelines for corporations; the chief one is coverage by multiple independent reliable sources. I searched for "WIC exchange" in Google and got seven hits. Five of them were unrelated, one was the page for the company, and the other was List of Australian companies. I honestly think there's no possible way to write a good article about this company.

I don't believe DragonflySixtyseven has any sort of anti-Australian bias; I suggest that you assume good faith in your dealings with them. Remember, people are generally not out to get you. Veinor ^{(talk to me)} 01:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I don't think that anyone is out to get me, and I didn't mean to imply that the user mentioned previously had an anti-Australian bias at all, just that he may have a pro-American continent and mainstream bias. But anyway, that is irrelevant. The main issue is the fact that the article was removed. Whilst WIC Exchange aren't famous, or mainstream, they are a company which is making big moves in the crossing over of companies like Second Life-based companies into the real world by offering a limited licence to own and trade their online currency, known as wics. This is a company that is beginning to get as lot of attention in and out of Second Life, as well as with some of the Australian online community. If Wikipedia will only allow the publication of articles based on companies that have 'made it' or are in the millions of dollars a day league, then yes, I totally agree that WIC Exchange should not be allowed as an article. However, it was my understanding that Wikipedia allow the publication of any article about a company where it has made, and is making significant changes in the way people behave or operate on the internet. WIC Exchange is bridging the gap between virtual buisness and real business for one thing, and is for the first time of any company on the internet, providing it's merchant services free of charge. Well, you understood wrong. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information; we have notability guidelines. You need to find reliable sources that have done in-depth coverage of the company. I searched for "WIC Exchange" on google and got seven results. Deletion of Organic Unity

I am the writer of the piece on organic unity as it applies to literary criticism. It was deleted, by you I gather, for reasons unknown to me. The piece was written for a class at my university, an Introduction to Literary Theory class (as a way of ENcouraging its use as opposed to DIScouraging its use by college students), and I believe was fairly verifiable. Mind you, my goal-- and the assignment-- was not to produce an epic of exegesis which explained all complexities of the idea. However I think I did an apt job of getting the ball rolling on how Organic Unity is used when it is applied to literary criticism. Why did you feel the need to delete my contribution to "stiuqxela?" I did not write the article simply as a tactic to increase my own pages rank. I actually added it to wikipedia because a) I believe it is relevant to the topic of SEO, and b) another part of this class is to make contributions to wikipedia. I can understand if you thought my intentions were otherwise, and I would be happy to remove my pages link from the article, but please put the page back up. Do you possibly have any suggestions of how to write the article without it being perceived as spam? I would be happy to make revisions in that case. I find the topic of SEO very interesting and I think SEO contests are a great way for students to better understand its use in internet marketing. This is why I feel the page is relevant. And just so you can better understand my intentions, this SEO experiment (stuiqxela, that is) has no negative impact on our grade in the class. It is simply an experiment. I still feel confident I will graduate with my degree in two and half weeks regardless of my google ranking.

Could you be more specific with your cleanup tag on this article? This is an article created by a group of students who are learning Wikipedia, and it may have some style problems, but on the whole for a first article it seems to me well-organized and well-sourced. You have obviously been a Wikipedia member/contributor for much longer than I have but, I am curious why you decided to delete my Waffle Fry Paradox article citing "silliness". What specific part of the Wikipedia:Deletion policy did you consult to make your decision?

Regarding the subject of the article, the phenomenon has been long known in my extended circle of friends. I have been talking around and we can trace its origin back at least 5 years. While not the most important article in the wiki, I feel it has a place.

Perhaps if I had written about a comic book, music band, or something else you have an interest in you would not have been so quick to delete.

Czech puppeteers?

The person creating the articles is User:Aussiebrisguy avoiding a block. The sockpuppets are extremely transparent. I have told him repeatedly that he can recreate his articles when his block expires. I don't question the legitimacy of the subject, but he needs to stop avoiding his block. Also, (this has nothing to do with my reason for deleting them, just fyi) I haven't checked the texts yet, but it's possible that some are copyvios as he has also been posting copyright violations. I guess there is the answer. "I haven't checked the texts yet." Is it normal for an editor of wikipedia, not just an administator, to remove entire articles without reading the text? This would seem like deliberate vandalism and then looking for some way to cover her tracks with copyvios as an excuse on articles she has not even read before removing. She seems extremely ignorant. I noticed, among the many articles removed, that she removed an article on Richard Bradshaw OAM, an outstanding Australian puppeteer and the article now reverts to the Canadian Opera Company which has nothing to do him. How ignorant is that I ask you? This is just one of many cases. It makes you wonder how many other articles from other wikipedia users she has removed without even reading? I have reverted her vandalism on the 'puppetry' wikipedia page where she removed the names of a great many puppeteers. Oh, please. I never said I hadn't read them. I said I haven't checked them for copyright violations. Not doing copyright scans and other copyright tests to check if an article is a copyright violation is a completely different matter to not actually reading an article. Your deliberate misinterpretation of what I said is absolutely ridiculous. Please be advised that a person acting in good faith cannot, by definition be a vandal and many folks around here consider false allegations of vandalism and the misuse of the word "vandal" to be a personal attack. If you want anyone to take you seriously, I advise you to cease your personal attacks and block evasion and start following our policies, guidelines and culture. Also, I received your email, however, I do not respond to threats or attempts at intimidation.

As far as your articles go, I've told you repeatedly that when your block expires at the end of the month, you may either recreate them or an administrator will undelete them, but in the meanwhile, you are simply not welcome to edit Wikipedia. Using sockpuppets and IP addresses to avoid your block is absolutely unacceptable and any administrator will tell you that. Thanks for your message, DS. You are absolutely spot on. I have no objections whatsoever to the subject matter or the articles themselves (assuming, of course, that they aren't copyvios) and, as I've told Aussiebrisguy several times now, he is welcome to either recreate them with his primary account or ask an admin (I'd be willing to do it myself) to restore them once he has sat out his block. Also, just to clarify one other thing, he complains above that I reverted Richard Bradshaw to a redirect to the Canadian Opera Company, which he claims the person has no connection with. In fact, there are two Richard Bradshaw's, the one he's talking about and another who is an extremely notable conductor who is the director of the Canadian Opera Company (his bio) and so the redirect is valid. When Aussiebrisguy's block expires, he can create a different article for the Australian puppeteer, while the main page should probably become a disambig. User:Marxus

I have been dealing with User:Marxus for the last day or so. From looking at his talk page it seems that you blocked him and had a lot of discussion with him recently. He has been writing a lot of articles about prisoners who escaped from Alcatraz and I became suspicious when some of what he wrote was contradicted in the article Alcatraz Escape Attempts which he also wrote. After some basic research, it turns out that though the people he wrote about this time are all real and probably notable, and some of the biographies are in fact completely accurate, there is also much information that is co mpletely wrong. I have corrected the greatest inaccuracies and will work on writing about the rest of their criminal career besides their escape attempts. But when I communicated with him on his talk page, he refused to respond and continued writing articles, some of which contained false information. He did not post any references, while I have references for my facts, though I have not posted them to all the articles yet. I would like to block this user, but am always hesitant to block users who are doing something even slightly constructive, so I am asking you for a second opinion. The Obvious

Hi there. I see you have shown previous interest in this article having argued that it does indeed meet the criteria at WP:BAND. Having read the article, I agree that yes it does clearly meet those criteria. However, the article has been tagged as failing to clearly establish notability since September 2006. Would you have any ideas of how it could be improved to more clearly show the notability of this band? Also, the article is fully unsourced and unverified. Would you be able to have any input into improving these other two problems? Possibly the claims made in the article are exaggerated and the band is not as successful as the article claims.

RFCN Issue

First off, can you provide me a dictionary entry that says "pimp" == "slave holder"? I cannot find one that states that? If I felt that Pimp really was synonomous with slave holer my decision may have been different. Not please keep in mind that I am not trying to be the guy beating the deceased horse, however let me provide a counter point. If a childs parents beat them horrifically when they are younger. A username with the word parent could qualify under the same rationale because they could speak of horrors and disgust of the parent. For that matter anything that has caused pain could qualify under that rationale. I understand that it can be offensive to some people, I have never said it is not and as a matter of a fact regularly agree it may offend some people. However, so does everything else such as parent or If an alligator killed a family member, that might bring back horrible memories lets ban that too. It is a fine line to walk between what is offensive to everybody and what is offensive to some people. nazi is offensive to almost everybody there is no question that would not be allowed (I.E. in the grammer Nazi). Almost anything, as described above, can be offensive to someone. The question is determining a.) what was the intent because wp is still built on WP:AGF in my opinion and secondly b.) what do a majority of people feel? Might I also point you in the direction of some defitinions of the word pimp. Please note it is my belief that the use in the username "CHichagoPimp" is a noun.

Name change request, et al

i have made the username change request to move from ChicagoPimp to LurkingInChicago for the good of the greater project. now that the username will be changed, the issue should fade quickly. that said, after a few days of cool reflection for everyone, i would like to initiate a discussion with you and other affected admins regarding assuming good faith, summary blocking after being told i would not have to change a username, allowing a single user to dominate an issue on multiple policy discussion pages, allowing a discussion/debate to continue after an admin decision has been reached, personal attacks, etc. there have been strong words levied from both sides of the issue which degraded into multiple personal attacks with an obvious lack of cooperation and civility. admins would not be the primary subject of the conversation, but rather the userbase as a whole. as you noted on my talk page, i have been cooperative and polite, and i would like to explore how we can work together to encourage all users to do the same with the end result being an improved user experience. Move of Danah boyd

Why have you decided to provoke a wheel war without apparently reading the talk pages? There is clear consensus against moving the article; certainly enough to at least start a new discussion before unilaterally performing the action. My recent move was merely keeping the current status quo. There are several problems with User:Ubernostrum's reasoning, first and foremost that D and B are the same letters of d and b. I do not believe that someone is referring to someone other than me if they do not capitalize my name or present it entirely in upper case, and as far as I know any legal records are case-insensitive. Names are proper nouns and as such are capitalized. It doesn't make the letters any different. Well this may suggest Jade1984 could actually be Victoria Eleanor.

1. As you can see here, Victoria blanked a message she had responded to the one Jade1984 wrote to her[10], responding two minutes after receiving them, blanking the day following.

Deletion Appeal: The White Panthers

You deleted the page The White Panthers earlier, citing inadequate sources. This is because there hardly ARE any sources. The White Panthers are an organization recently formed to help end ridicule of white high school kids by the local Hispanic majority (70% Hispanic to 23% White), as well as just to let the white kids have some fun. Since there aren't many sources to cite, I think the removal was absurd. Season articles

The thing is this: there are only so many ways you can give stats. If not in a table, then what is another organized way of formatting player statistics?

Anyway, I don't get why this is an issue at all. Baseball-reference is referenced in every single article. So the stats, owned by B-R or not, are sourced.

Also, an article that I've greatly expanded, 2007 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim season, has almost no stats. The only stats that are on the page are the team's league leaders in 12 categories. Thornton Square

I used to live in Macclesfield, where Thornton Square is located. The location exists - it is a rundown area of 1960s/70s development, but from what I know of the place the stuff about Chicago architecture and the like (which has since been removed by User:Shimgray) is highly implausible. As a genuine location, perhaps a different tag than {{hoax}} would've been better, but I thought a substantial amount of the material in the article was likely to be untrue. Everyone is happy with it except for the multiply-blocked user Nick Irelan, who has a personal vendetta in real life with Dave Winer. A complete list of Irelan's sock puppets could be created if it would be useful, but he presumably just uses his dynamic IP du jour, so there is not much point in blocking each IP. My plan

Based upon the discussion and kind words offered by you and others my plan is to do these things:

1. Edit less than normal, for awhile anyway.
2. Contribute less to discussion pages in the WP namespace, (save those discussions I am involved in currently)
3. Try not to let Wikipedia upset me so much (which it does at times and my edits reflect it, i.e. I become rather hostile towards some people)
4. Try to remember just how shitty of a school Northern Illinois University is, and that the president there is more likely to have graduated from Hollywood Upstairs Medical College than anywhere else.

Re Your message

No, you are supposed to ask the user to provide the copyright and extend courtesy and reasonable time, not to write directly that the user "wrongly thinks that can download from internet"etc or that is obviously using appropiated material, you should keep NPOV until knowing who is the author and after asking for copyright material, not to assume things beforehand. King Kong Appears in Edo

I am very surprised to learn that you are an administrator. The hoax tag was added to the article because there is absolutely no proof, none whatsoever, that this film ever actually existed. Zero! Yet you removed the hoax tag. The link page with the image of the man in the gorilla costume with the doll is not evidence that this film ever existed! It is irrelevant. Even if the photograph is from a film, it does not mean, nor does it prove, that the alleged film 'King Kong Appears in Edo' ever actually existed. There is substantial reason to believe this is a hoax. I would suggest that you read the talk page regarding this supposed film. There is, as of yet, no evidence that has been presented that would indicate this film existed. The photograph, according to the link is from 1933, thus could not be from the alleged film which was purportedly released in 1938-5 years later. Vanished user

I fail to see any disruptive behavior by Vanished user after I unblocked. She seems to be following my advice to not upload images that are used elsewhere on the net; to avoid discussion the dispute she was engaged in, etc. You seem to simply be re-imposing the original block for the same reason developed at that time. Well, here is another user named "pimp." User:Cooliomcpimp I really hate to put you in the fire another time, but this one looks like a little kid, so he might be more reasonable about it. I would not rather be the one to ask that it be changed, because, frankly, I got to see some pretty disgusting user pages (one reason I don't read them) during the Steve Sims discussion. Please undelete Kēlen

Please undelete Kēlen, or at least restore it to my userspace. The deletion discussion appears to have been carried out in indecent haste by a very small group of editors, none of whom appears to be well informed about Constructed languages. Kēlen is a work which is highly regarded amongst conlangers, as an well-realised departure from the universals of human languages, and to describe it as "something that someone did one day in school" reflects poorly on the people who did so. It may be possible to cite some additional sources with further research.
