RE: Poetry
Though I have no plans to publish my work in the immediate future, I believe you are correct in your advice for me to take it down. I appreciate your concern and I understand its merely to protect the rights to my work and I created that page sometime back before I was aware of WP:USERPAGE and the like :P. Once again thank you for your concern.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 15:35, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Brian Peppers redirect
Do we actually know that he is suffering from Crouzon syndrome? AFAIK that's only speculation. Dave 17:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- If this is true of Brian Peppers, then I think your redirect[1] is a possible compromise for the Brian Peppers DRV that is very humane. --A. B. (talk) 17:17, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- Disagree. Anyone looking for information about Brian Peppers, misguided though we might think them, is not looking for information about Crouzon syndrome. Newyorkbrad 17:18, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
I suggest we make it a protected redirect to Crouzon syndrome. The only reason anyone wants to see Peppers is because he Looks Weird, so let's send 'em where they want to be. DS 16:41, 21 February 2007 (UTC) [DRV comment]
I am acting unilaterally here; however, I am open to negotiation post facto if anyone has a better idea. [edit summary used when creating the suggested redirect one minute later]
- A better idea is to wait for the deletion review's conclusion instead of "acting unilaterally." Fulfilling the desire of those who wish to see an individual of disputed notability (who isn't mentioned in the article, but probably will be soon) "because he looks weird" arguably goes against the spirit of the deletion that remains under review. We had this as a protected red link, and now it's a blue link that can be used to extend the disgusting ridicule to a medical condition that Brian Peppers might or might not have (in the interest of placating the gawkers). I doubt that this is what the contributor of this child's photograph had in mind. —David Levy 17:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- I undid the redirect, not because I think it's a terrible idea that must be squashed, but because there's no clear reason to believe that Crouson is what Peppers has. According to the Snopes article, it might be Apert syndrome or Crouzon syndrome, but nobody really knows (except Peppers and his doctors, I guess). Actrapid PROD
I was trying to help out with the orphans (of which it was one), and when I tried to figure out what page should link to it, I found (by searching Google) some indication that it is apparently a brand name of insulin put out by Novo_Nordisk. However, I can't find a good source that it is still an active drug name. Originally when I found the page, the sole sentence on it made some reference to the "now defunct" drug that had been "replaced" by Novorapid. I have no idea if that's true or not, but it didn't seem a particularly useful page . . . It was my first attempt to nominate something for deletion. Do you think I should have put it in the main deletion category, for discussion? Carolfrog 01:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- By the way, thanks for pointing me in the direction of an AfD instead of a prod. The result was "redirect to insulin," which is a much better outcome, even I can admit. I don't know why I didn't think of it—but that's what other editors' input is for, right? :) And now I'm all addicted to the AfD page, and I'm not getting anything else done . . . . sigh. —Carolfrog 08:07, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Sweet Surname
An editor has nominated Sweet Surname, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sweet Surname and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Colin Angus (explorer) page protection
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to contact you. It is my understanding that Living Person Biographies must include "high quality references, particularly about details of personal lives. Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material — whether negative, positive, or just highly questionable — about living persons should be removed immediately, and without discussion from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, and user pages." Because of repeated edits that violate this regulation, I have requested page protection. However, you have reverted the page to a version that includes poorly or wrongly sourced information. Furthermore, it is clear from the edits that the intention is to negatively portray this individual and that the editor does not have a neutral point of view. I would ask that you consider changing this biography accordingly. Thank you. Mustang13 16:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

I would like to delete this image because it is on the Commons, but I do not know which GFDL tag is correct (Do we need to keep disclaimers or not?). Could you please access the OTRS and find out which version of the GFDL should be used on this image, and then tag it with the correct GFDL tag on Commons and delete the one here? Freedom of Speech is a bitch, I can say what I want on my profile.
Get a sense of humour, who the hell are you to dictate what I can and cannot say? You want to talk about Nazism, there's a great example.
But since apparently as a Wikipedia member I am entitled to remove anything that could be construed as Offensive, well I'm afraid your entire user page was pretty hazardous to my morale, you can spend three seconds reverting it if you'd like, I'll spend that time healing the emotional damage your user page endowed me with.
Seriously kid this is the internet, get a sense of humour and grow up. Cosmic Larva 00:40, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Alright evidently Wikipedia's bots are more willing to fix your page than I am to keep changing it so forget that, it was prety immature of me any how. Look, my main point is, my page wasnt hurting anyone, no one was offended by it, and if they were they bruise too easy, so who are you to assert yourself and remove it? Frankly it's pretty high and mighty of you.
This is Wikipedia, it's a national joke, yeah I love to use it for stuff I'm interested in, but for god sake, there are so few things that really MATTER in this world, and frankly this issue from your standpoint is not one of them.
I'm only forcing this issue because I am an avid believer in free speech, a right I hold which you're now trying to strip me of, and that is something I'm willing to fight over, does it mean that much to you, or will you show you're the bigger man and just drop a petty squabble that you brought on yourself?

Personal comments in block messages
Hi there. I'm just a little curious as to why you are making personal comments in block logs, such as http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=block&page=User:Fyslee and at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=block&page=User:Yngwie_lunchbox. I thought the idea behind blocking was to prevent abuse to Wikipedia, rather than to punish. There are, however rare, cases of vandals who return to Wikipedia as valuable contributors, and perhaps a neutral message in the block log would be more productive?--Xnuala (talk) 00:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Believe me, I'm not disputing the quality of User:Yngwie_lunchbox's contributions! Deleted Wiki On WIC Exchange
Excuse me, you have incorrectly deleted a wiki I wrote about Australian company WIC Exchange Pty Ltd. This article took me a very long time to write, and I believe I had written it according to the specifications outlined by Wikipedia. Is it that you have something against the production of an article about an Australian company? This article was certainly NOT spam, and I would appreciate it's immediate return. This is the rudest and most inappropriate action I have witnessed from a Wikipedia contributor since I have registered. Please return this article - even Australian companies deserve to have a mention in Wikipedia for the things they have done right in the past or present.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Beerwombatau (talk • contribs).
- While DragonflySixtyseven may have deleted the article (not a wiki, an article.) for being spam, I think there is another issue here: notability. Wikipedia has notability guidelines for corporations; the chief one is coverage by multiple independent reliable sources. I searched for "WIC exchange" in Google and got seven hits. Five of them were unrelated, one was the page for the company, and the other was List of Australian companies. I honestly think there's no possible way to write a good article about this company.
- I don't believe DragonflySixtyseven has any sort of anti-Australian bias; I suggest that you assume good faith in your dealings with them. Remember, people are generally not out to get you. Veinor (talk to me) 01:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think that anyone is out to get me, and I didn't mean to imply that the user mentioned previously had an anti-Australian bias at all, just that he may have a pro-American continent and mainstream bias. But anyway, that is irrelevant. The main issue is the fact that the article was removed. Whilst WIC Exchange aren't famous, or mainstream, they are a company which is making big moves in the crossing over of companies like Second Life-based companies into the real world by offering a limited licence to own and trade their online currency, known as wics. This is a company that is beginning to get as lot of attention in and out of Second Life, as well as with some of the Australian online community. If Wikipedia will only allow the publication of articles based on companies that have 'made it' or are in the millions of dollars a day league, then yes, I totally agree that WIC Exchange should not be allowed as an article. However, it was my understanding that Wikipedia allow the publication of any article about a company where it has made, and is making significant changes in the way people behave or operate on the internet. WIC Exchange is bridging the gap between virtual buisness and real business for one thing, and is for the first time of any company on the internet, providing it's merchant services free of charge. I couldn't possibly agree that they are not worthy of an article in this case. Please reconsider. Beerwombatau (talk) 04:50, 11 April 2007
- Well, you understood wrong. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information; we have notability guidelines. You need to find reliable sources that have done in-depth coverage of the company. I searched for "WIC Exchange" on google and got seven results. To me, that makes any sort of article extremely unlikely; we can't use Second Life as a source (no record). Veinor (talk to me) 17:31, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Organic Unity
I am the writer of the piece on organic unity as it applies to literary criticism. It was deleted, by you I gather, for reasons unknown to me. The piece was written for a class at my university, an Introduction to Literary Theory class (as a way of ENcouraging its use as opposed to DIScouraging its use by college students), and I believe was fairly verifiable. Mind you, my goal-- and the assignment-- was not to produce an epic of exegesis which explained all complexities of the idea. However I think I did an apt job of getting the ball rolling on how Organic Unity is used when it is applied to literary criticism. Would you please, kindly, explain your actions, so that I might improve and resubmit properly? patrick.collin.arbo
EDIT: After posting this I tried to find the article on the "Articles for Deletion page, and it was not present there. Might I inquire of that anomaly as well?

Also, is there any way that I might obtain a print-out of the article screen from the short period of time it was retained on the server before deletion. I need it for purposes of proof that there was indeed an article that is the subject of our correspondance. Any other advice which would aid me in transforming this article into one that is acceptable would also be appreciated. patrick.collin.arbo

Hi. Would you mind explaining how that user was acting in bad faith and deserved a permanent ban? His contributions only show what appear to be good faith edits. Agree or disagree with his argument, it is not a reason for banning, especially with no warning and no reason. I believe he was unjustly banned. - JNighthawk 04:37, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

stiuqxela
Why did you feel the need to delete my contribution to "stiuqxela?" I did not write the article simply as a tactic to increase my own pages rank. I actually added it to wikipedia because a) I believe it is relevant to the topic of SEO, and b) another part of this class is to make contributions to wikipedia. I can understand if you thought my intentions were otherwise, and I would be happy to remove my pages link from the article, but please put the page back up. Do you possibly have any suggestions of how to write the article without it being perceived as spam? I would be happy to make revisions in that case. I find the topic of SEO very interesting and I think SEO contests are a great way for students to better understand its use in internet marketing. This is why I feel the page is relevant. And just so you can better understand my intentions, this SEO experiment (stuiqxela, that is) has no negative impact on our grade in the class. It is simply an experiment. I still feel confident I will graduate with my degree in two and half weeks regardless of my google ranking.
Thank you, Chris Leone
Understood. Thanks anyways.

Proofreader's Eye
You have a comma splice in the first sentence of User:DragonflySixtyseven. It should be "I'm 31 and Canadian, and I am" or "I'm 31, Canadian, and I am" or if you want to do the run-on sentence thing (which I just did) it could be "I'm 31 and Canadian and I am." :P I just saw that someone had corrected the Abba P. Lerner page, and I thought that he'd had twins but couldn't remember for sure. Good catch. It had been wrong for over a year. 131.91.216.94 16:29, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
References (e.g. for Francis Crick)
this method seems to work:
<ref name=Obituary>''Nature'', Obituary, volume 430, 19 August 2004, p 845</ref>
For subsequent uses of the same reference, just use <ref name=Obituary/>
And of course there needs to be a <references/> tag somewhere on the page so the references are collated and presented to the reader.
It took me a while to figure all that out too!

Re: Cleanup tag on Natural organic matter
Could you be more specific with your cleanup tag on this article? This is an article created by a group of students who are learning Wikipedia, and it may have some style problems, but on the whole for a first article it seems to me well-organized and well-sourced. Students can learn greatly from the feedback you have for them or the changes you make to the article. But "this is such a mess" is not very helpful. 1013-josh 18:26, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Good evening. Thank you very much for taking the time to look into how to improve this article. However, I would like to know more about what you mean by disorganized. I have had people who are very well informed in this field read the article and thoroughly enjoy its scientific completion. If you could maybe leave some comments on my talk page that would be fantastic, so I can work on making this even better. I just feel a vague comment hurts more than helps improvement. Thanks. 1013-alex 06:32, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

How does a merge end when no one seems to be supporting it? Appeal of Deletion of Waffle Fry Paradox and the associated Talk Page
I would like to request an appeal of the deletion both the Waffle Fry Paradox and the associated talk page. I don't understand why my article was deleted in the first place and especially why the talk page was deleted. If the talk page is not the place to discuss the reasons why the article was deleted where is the proper forum. Please direct all further discussion on this topic either to my talk page User_talk:Cleggett or to the article's talk page. Thanks.
You have obviously been a Wikipedia member/contributor for much longer than I have but, I am curious why you decided to delete my Waffle Fry Paradox article citing "silliness". What specific part of the Wikipedia:Deletion policy did you consult to make your decision?
Regarding the subject of the article, the phenomenon has been long known in my extended circle of friends. I have been talking around and we can trace its origin back at least 5 years. While not the most important article in the wiki, I feel it has a place.
Perhaps if I had written about a comic book, music band, or something else you have an interest in you would not have been so quick to delete.
--Cleggett 10:48, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Because it's not really well-known outside your circle of friends, I'm assuming. Wikipedia is not for things made up in school one day. Also, calling other editors a 'chode', like you did here, isn't a good idea. It tends to undermine our assumption of good faith, and creates ill will against you. Veinor (talk to me) 14:12, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Czech puppeteers?
The person creating the articles is User:Aussiebrisguy avoiding a block. The sockpuppets are extremely transparent. I have told him repeatedly that he can recreate his articles when his block expires. I don't question the legitimacy of the subject, but he needs to stop avoiding his block. Also, (this has nothing to do with my reason for deleting them, just fyi) I haven't checked the texts yet, but it's possible that some are copyvios as he has also been posting copyright violations. Sarah 14:21, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I guess there is the answer. "I haven't checked the texts yet." Is it normal for an editor of wikipedia, not just an administator, to remove entire articles without reading the text? This would seem like deliberate vandalism and then looking for some way to cover her tracks with copyvios as an excuse on articles she has not even read before removing. She seems extremely ignorant. I noticed, among the many articles removed, that she removed an article on Richard Bradshaw OAM, an outstanding Australian puppeteer and the article now reverts to the Canadian Opera Company which has nothing to do him. How ignorant is that I ask you? This is just one of many cases. It makes you wonder how many other articles from other wikipedia users she has removed without even reading? I have reverted her vandalism on the 'puppetry' wikipedia page where she removed the names of a great many puppeteers. She has removed the entire pages on these Czech puppeteers. 144.138.69138 03:03, 01 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, please. I never said I hadn't read them. I said I haven't checked them for copyright violations. Not doing copyright scans and other copyright tests to check if an article is a copyright violation is a completely different matter to not actually reading an article. Your deliberate misinterpretation of what I said is absolutely ridiculous. Please be advised that a person acting in good faith cannot, by definition be a vandal and many folks around here consider false allegations of vandalism and the misuse of the word "vandal" to be a personal attack. If you want anyone to take you seriously, I advise you to cease your personal attacks and block evasion and start following our policies, guidelines and culture. Also, I received your email, however, I do not respond to threats or attempts at intimidation.
- As far as your articles go, I've told you repeatedly that when your block expires at the end of the month, you may either recreate them or an administrator will undelete them, but in the meanwhile, you are simply not welcome to edit Wikipedia. Using sockpuppets and IP addresses to avoid your block is absolutely unacceptable and any administrator will tell you that. I have been recording your IP addresses and if you continue editing in violation of the blocking policy, your IP range will be range blocked. Sarah 09:33, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism of large number of articles on Puppetry
I have noted your valid criticism of Sarah who has repeatedly removed entire articles on puppetry from wikipedia. Doesn't this amount to vandalism? What can be done to restore the articles and prevent such large scale vandalism in the future please? 144.138.69.138 02:25, 01 June 2007 (UTC)
Further information on Vandalism of articles on Puppetry
Thought you might like to know that the following articles were completely removed by vandal Sarah :
- Zdar Sorm
- Petr Vodicka
- Richard Bradshaw - note this page now reverts to the Canadian Opera Company which has nothing to do with Richard Bradshaw OAM, puppeteer
- Marek Becka
- Miroslav Trejtnar
- Dora Krskova
- Buchty a Loutky (Cakes and Puppets)
- Prague Academy of Performing Arts
- Minor Theatre, Prague
- Puppets Without Borders
This would appear to be a major case of vandalism and depriving wikipedia users of the right to obtain information on all of these puppeteers, puppet companies and a place of higher learning in the Czech Republic. One wonders how many other valid articles she has vandalised lately? Her repeated ignorant actions in removing so much information makes wikipedia look very poor indeed. 144.138.69.138 15.26, 01 June 2007 (UTC)
- DragonflySixtyseven, I've just moved these messages from your userpage where User:Aussiebrisguy seem to have been leaving them in error. Also, I shall be sending you an email shortly. Cheers, Sarah 09:33, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I wonder whether Sarah has restored the pages she so wantonly vandalised as yet?
- Thanks for your message, DS. You are absolutely spot on. I have no objections whatsoever to the subject matter or the articles themselves (assuming, of course, that they aren't copyvios) and, as I've told Aussiebrisguy several times now, he is welcome to either recreate them with his primary account or ask an admin (I'd be willing to do it myself) to restore them once he has sat out his block. Also, just to clarify one other thing, he complains above that I reverted Richard Bradshaw to a redirect to the Canadian Opera Company, which he claims the person has no connection with. In fact, there are two Richard Bradshaw's, the one he's talking about and another who is an extremely notable conductor who is the director of the Canadian Opera Company (his bio) and so the redirect is valid. When Aussiebrisguy's block expires, he can create a different article for the Australian puppeteer, while the main page should probably become a disambig. Anyway, thanks again for your message, I appreciated it. Cheers, Sarah 09:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Vandalism
I have saw in your editing history lots of vandalism. I think that Wikipedia should protect userpages by default so only the user can edit.
Block of BoojiBoy
Hey there. I see that you have blocked BoojiBoy. Based on your reason and comment on his talk page, I assume that it is because of the edit summaries in the following two edits: [5] & [6]. While I agree that these edits are a very clear violation NPA, I think that an indefinite block is inappropriate in this case. He has been a long time contributor, this is his first blatant violation, and he didn't even get a warning. Please consider unblocking him or give an explanation as to why an indefinite block is appropriate. -- JamesTeterenko 16:10, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Closed AfD -- entry on talk page?
You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve Gilliard as a keep. Isn't there supposed to be a report of such an action on the article's talk page? I jumped into an ongoing deletion-related discussion on Talk:Steve Gilliard, thinking that some people were contemplating an AfD, only to find out later that there had actually been an AfD.
I made this edit to add the box. If that was wrong for some reason, please let me know. JamesMLane t c 04:53, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
I have been dealing with User:Marxus for the last day or so. From looking at his talk page it seems that you blocked him and had a lot of discussion with him recently. He has been writing a lot of articles about prisoners who escaped from Alcatraz and I became suspicious when some of what he wrote was contradicted in the article Alcatraz Escape Attempts which he also wrote. After some basic research, it turns out that though the people he wrote about this time are all real and probably notable, and some of the biographies are in fact completely accurate, there is also much information that is co mpletely wrong. I have corrected the greatest inaccuracies and will work on writing about the rest of their criminal career besides their escape attempts. But when I communicated with him on his talk page, he refused to respond and continued writing articles, some of which contained false information. He did not post any references, while I have references for my facts, though I have not posted them to all the articles yet. I would like to block this user, but am always hesitant to block users who are doing something even slightly constructive, so I am asking you for a second opinion. Hi there. I see you have shown previous interest in this article having argued that it does indeed meet the criteria at WP:BAND. Having read the article, I agree that yes it does clearly meet those criteria. However, the article has been tagged as failing to clearly establish notability since September 2006. Would you have any ideas of how it could be improved to more clearly show the notability of this band? Also, the article is fully unsourced and unverified. Would you be able to have any input into improving these other two problems? Possibly the claims made in the article are exaggerated and the band is not as successful as the article claims.
Thanks for any input or suggestions,Garrie 01:23, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
RFCN Issue
First off, can you provide me a dictionary entry that says "pimp" == "slave holder"? I cannot find one that states that? If I felt that Pimp really was synonomous with slave holer my decision may have been different. Not please keep in mind that I am not trying to be the guy beating the deceased horse, however let me provide a counter point. If a childs parents beat them horrifically when they are younger. A username with the word parent could qualify under the same rationale because they could speak of horrors and disgust of the parent. For that matter anything that has caused pain could qualify under that rationale. I understand that it can be offensive to some people, I have never said it is not and as a matter of a fact regularly agree it may offend some people. However, so does everything else such as parent or If an alligator killed a family member, that might bring back horrible memories lets ban that too. It is a fine line to walk between what is offensive to everybody and what is offensive to some people. nazi is offensive to almost everybody there is no question that would not be allowed (I.E. in the grammer Nazi). Almost anything, as described above, can be offensive to someone. The question is determining a.) what was the intent because wp is still built on WP:AGF in my opinion and secondly b.) what do a majority of people feel? I will gladly engage in discussion regarding this here. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 12:44, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I am also a bit concerned that you blocked based on the premise that "pimp" == slaveholder. I believe this block to be innapropriate without further discussion. I hoped that you would choose to discuss this with me before blocking him, it is nothing that another 12 hour would not have hurt to seek me out and engage in a discussion. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 12:57, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- Might I also point you in the direction of some defitinions of the word pimp. Please note it is my belief that the use in the username "CHichagoPimp" is a noun.
- "A person who solicits customers for prostitution and acts as manager for prostitutes; a panderer. "[7]
- "(slang, AAVE) Man who can easily attract women; a player/playa. " [8]
- "a person, esp. a man, who solicits customers for a prostitute or a brothel, usually in return for a share of the earnings; pander; procurer. "[9]
- I have yet to fo find a defintion that equates a pimp to a slave owner. If it was "ChicagoSlaveOwner" it would be innapropriate the fact is, it is not. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 13:02, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- Might I also point you in the direction of some defitinions of the word pimp. Please note it is my belief that the use in the username "CHichagoPimp" is a noun.
After finding this and this, it may appear I am assuimg good faith when bad faith is indeed intended in this situation. I would strongly stand for inclusion if I felt it was not meant in the derrogatory context you interpret it in. I am now led to believe that CHicagoPimp does mean it in that context. The statement, "Gotta keep the pimp hand strong. Always." as seen on his user page may speak enough for this. As of now, I now endorse your block. THis is not me agreeing that pimp is always offensive however me agreeing that this name is probably in bad faith. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 13:10, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Name change request, et al
i have made the username change request to move from ChicagoPimp to LurkingInChicago for the good of the greater project. now that the username will be changed, the issue should fade quickly. that said, after a few days of cool reflection for everyone, i would like to initiate a discussion with you and other affected admins regarding assuming good faith, summary blocking after being told i would not have to change a username, allowing a single user to dominate an issue on multiple policy discussion pages, allowing a discussion/debate to continue after an admin decision has been reached, personal attacks, etc. there have been strong words levied from both sides of the issue which degraded into multiple personal attacks with an obvious lack of cooperation and civility. admins would not be the primary subject of the conversation, but rather the userbase as a whole. as you noted on my talk page, i have been cooperative and polite, and i would like to explore how we can work together to encourage all users to do the same with the end result being an improved user experience. Move of Danah boyd
Why have you decided to provoke a wheel war without apparently reading the talk pages? There is clear consensus against moving the article; certainly enough to at least start a new discussion before unilaterally performing the action. My recent move was merely keeping the current status quo. There are several problems with User:Ubernostrum's reasoning, first and foremost that D and B are the same letters of d and b. I do not believe that someone is referring to someone other than me if they do not capitalize my name or present it entirely in upper case, and as far as I know any legal records are case-insensitive. Names are proper nouns and as such are capitalized. It doesn't make the letters any different. Please revert this move yourself, as you've done so against consensus, against MOS guidelines, and against the actions of other administrators without good justification. -- Renesis (talk) 07:18, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Why has the Aussie Tech Head page been deleted? I am a listener to their Podcast and I was interested in reading the entry about them (apparently posted by a non Aussie listener). When I when to find it I found you had deleted it.

Hey, I completely understand... I did add the reference for it, however I did not know that those would be considered a "legal" issue if you know what I mean. It really was a pain in the neck to sit and do all that though, LOL. Are there any guidelines I could check out to determine what would classify as a legal risk? Edits to Grass Wood, Wharfedale
Hi - please could you give me a bit more background to your edit to this article - the edit comment is a bit cryptic. Many thanks. SP-KP 10:36, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply; whilst I sympathise with the concerns, the information that was included in the article is essentially in the public domain, in various published sources which can be included in the article for verifiability. I'd like to reinstate it, with references, if you are agreeable to that. SP-KP 13:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the further info. I understand your reasoniong, but still disagree with your edit, so would like to continue with a discussion on this. I guess the talk page for the article is probably the best place for a discussion on this, so that we can arrive at a consensus position among editors - do you agree? If there's somewhere better let me know. SP-KP 14:59, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Weeweeslap username ban
the user Weeweeslap's ip was banned recently from this site, we were just trying to create a wiki article on the website weeweeslap, with numeuros failed attemts to get it back on line. Yes, the image was lifted off a military website and inappropriately uploaded as a {{PD-self}}. Britgov images are under Crown Copyright, which is basically... I'm not really sure, but "material under Crown Copyright [is not considered] redistributable under such licenses as the GFDL," so it's not a possibility. Circeus 22:32, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

- Well this may suggest Jade1984 could actually be Victoria Eleanor.
- As you can see here, Victoria blanked a message she had responded to the one Jade1984 wrote to her[10], responding two minutes after receiving them, blanking the day following.
- Both signed without "--" this wayFluence 00:34, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Jade thought I was killing myself or harming about Victoria's death due I said "See you soon". She wrote a message on my talk page saying she was worried [11] but when I replied, she never responded, just after I asked her about Victoria's real name. However, she hasn't edited since the 25.
- Victoria said to me she had lost all contacts, it's almost imposible she had recovered an old friend for 18 years. Although is probable.
- About the name matter also; if Jade knew so well Victoria, why the different names? (Mary Jane, June Anna)
- Jade said on her talk page she managed to be on Wikipedia by looking through Google; on Victoria's discussion, she states "so we can edit articles together"
- Victoria seemed fine the last time she wrote to me. There was no apparent reason for suicide as Jade says. Apparent, I repeat. She wasn't completely lonely if she had Jade.
- Jade joined about three days before Victoria died.
- They both love(d) The Vines. However, Jade has never commented about it.
These are my reasons if what you say it's true. If not, I think someone's being cruel here. If you could prove it It would better.--Fluence 00:34, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion Appeal: The White Panthers
You deleted the page The White Panthers earlier, citing inadequate sources. This is because there hardly ARE any sources. The White Panthers are an organization recently formed to help end ridicule of white high school kids by the local Hispanic majority (70% Hispanic to 23% White), as well as just to let the white kids have some fun. Since there aren't many sources to cite, I think the removal was absurd. If I must make my article more serious, I will do so, but please reply to me explaining whether or not you will let it be next time.
Thank you,

That works for me. I just wanted to avoid looking like we were trying a circuitous road not to call a trial what in fact is called a trial. Specifying a "civil trial" is just fine with me, if it addresses your concerns.--Ramdrake 19:13, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on this page, by Chicaneo (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because the article is a page created primarily to disparage its subject or a biography of a living person that is controversial in tone and unsourced, where there is no neutral point of view version in the history to revert to. (CSD G10).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting the article, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate the article itself. Stats
Ok, I just ask. How are the stats owned? I mean, anybody can take note of stats and put it on a website. I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just wondering what is your reasoning? Either way, I'd probably ask the webmaster at MLB.com for permission. Soxrock 17:09, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh, second note. I do plan to put standings, prose, game logs, and rosters on those pages. Stats won't be the only content there. Soxrock 17:13, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Season articles
The thing is this: there are only so many ways you can give stats. If not in a table, then what is another organized way of formatting player statistics?
Anyway, I don't get why this is an issue at all. Baseball-reference is referenced in every single article. So the stats, owned by B-R or not, are sourced.
Also, an article that I've greatly expanded, 2007 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim season, has almost no stats. The only stats that are on the page are the team's league leaders in 12 categories. But even those are linked and referenced at the bottom of the page. Ksy92003(talk) 17:12, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes. They are sourced, which is why I don't see the controversy. If they were unsourced, it's copyvio. But I think that, due to it being citied, it can stay up Soxrock 17:14, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- No, look. Just because you cite a source doesn't mean it's not copyvio. It means it's not plagiarism. But it can still be copyvio. MLB is very very very possessive of its IP. You can't take a picture of a player in a game without permission. They own the stats, and they have the lawyers and the precedents to back them up. DS 17:19, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
You could take a picture, but only for non-commercial use, unless you have MLB permission, and non-commercial use is not allowed in wikipedia. Stats are ok in a way like Fuu hit 26 home runs with 120 RBIs in prose form but you need permission for full stats Jaranda wat's sup 17:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
We don't use full stats. We use prominent, known, followed stats. Soxrock 17:42, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

I used to live in Macclesfield, where Thornton Square is located. The location exists - it is a rundown area of 1960s/70s development, but from what I know of the place the stuff about Chicago architecture and the like (which has since been removed by User:Shimgray) is highly implausible. As a genuine location, perhaps a different tag than {{hoax}} would've been better, but I thought a substantial amount of the material in the article was likely to be untrue. - Thanks to both of you for your helpful intervention. In my humble opinion, full protection is not needed. There are no major controversies on the page itself. Everyone is happy with it except for the multiply-blocked user Nick Irelan, who has a personal vendetta in real life with Dave Winer. He attacks the article with a varying set of IPs whenever semi-protection is taken off. Historical details available on request. Or ask User:Ryulong. A complete list of Irelan's sock puppets could be created if it would be useful, but he presumably just uses his dynamic IP du jour, so there is not much point in blocking each IP. My plan
Based upon the discussion and kind words offered by you and others my plan is to do these things:
- Edit less than normal, for awhile anyway.
- Contribute less to discussion pages in the WP namespace, (save those discussions I am involved in currently)
- Try not to let Wikipedia upset me so much (which it does at times and my edits reflect it, i.e. I become rather hostile towards some people)
- Try to remember just how shitty of a school Northern Illinois University is, and that the president there is more likely to have graduated from Hollywood Upstairs Medical College than anywhere else.

Alberto Gonzales on ITN
Hi, Dragonfly. I wasn't sure whether you had seen that there was some discussion yesterday and today at Template talk:In the news about the Alberto Gonzales item you added to Template:In the news. A few editors objected that the item had been added before the formal announcement of his resignation had been made; a few others also thought that it might not be of sufficient international interest. Both objections were eventually answered, the former by the official announcement and the latter by the production of lots of international sources showing interest. But I thought you might be interested in seeing the discussion, and perhaps adding your thoughts, now that it's all over. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 17:41, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

No, you are supposed to ask the user to provide the copyright and extend courtesy and reasonable time, not to write directly that the user "wrongly thinks that can download from internet"etc or that is obviously using appropiated material, you should keep NPOV until knowing who is the author and after asking for copyright material, not to assume things beforehand. Furthermore you should provide the claimant the evidence you used for your judgement That is ethical and correct action Vanished user 16:26, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

King Kong Appears in Edo
I am very surprised to learn that you are an administrator. The hoax tag was added to the article because there is absolutely no proof, none whatsoever, that this film ever actually existed. Zero! Yet you removed the hoax tag. The link page with the image of the man in the gorilla costume with the doll is not evidence that this film ever existed! It is irrelevant. Even if the photograph is from a film, it does not mean, nor does it prove, that the alleged film 'King Kong Appears in Edo' ever actually existed. There is substantial reason to believe this is a hoax. I would suggest that you read the talk page regarding this supposed film. There is, as of yet, no evidence that has been presented that would indicate this film existed. The photograph, according to the link is from 1933, thus could not be from the alleged film which was purportedly released in 1938-5 years later. What exactly was the logic you used in removing the hoax tag? Please explain! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.62.238.113 (talk) 23:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, here is another user named "pimp." User:Cooliomcpimp I really hate to put you in the fire another time, but this one looks like a little kid, so he might be more reasonable about it. I would not rather be the one to ask that it be changed, because, frankly, I got to see some pretty disgusting user pages (one reason I don't read them) during the Steve Sims discussion. But though being disgusted is a biproduct of the web--being denigrated shouldn't be accepted on Wikipedia. Thanks. KP Botany 05:02, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- And thanks. KP Botany 05:42, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks again. I looked at part of the list and now regret it. What a lot of unblocked filth. KP Botany 23:21, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
I too have also had a article deleted for no reason. I am starting a project which I think quite a few people will enjoy. Please may I ask that you restore this article? I have so much set on this project. User:Bleeding-Sorrow —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 20:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Please undelete Kēlen
Please undelete Kēlen, or at least restore it to my userspace. The deletion discussion appears to have been carried out in indecent haste by a very small group of editors, none of whom appears to be well informed about Constructed languages. Kēlen is a work which is highly regarded amongst conlangers, as an well-realised departure from the universals of human languages, and to describe it as "something that someone did one day in school" reflects poorly on the people who did so. It may be possible to cite some additional sources with further research.
