[edit]This page was probably a fair bit of work to compile. I want to congratulate you on doing important work.
A couple of years ago I had a discussion with one of the project's quality control volunteers, who told me something like: "90 percent of new articles are crap, and get deleted. So we agreed to capture links to the last N new articles, and return a week later. My correspondent learned that a much greater fraction of those articles ended up getting improved enough that they were kept. I learned something too. I didn't really understand that a pretty significant fraction of new articles were crap.
I think my correspondent and I were discussing whether speedy deletion nominators should give a heads-up to the creators of the articles they nominated -- but I can't remember.
