A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
You have written a great article about James Robert Phillips. Your referencing is unusual compared to the current styles. I'm going to add an inline ref and maybe this may give you a clue. At the mo it could become confused as others add stuff and break your numbering style. OK. Oh and again .... good article Victuallers (talk) 14:57, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear S0091,
Thank you very much much for your feedback. The main issue is that I have been trying very hard to use published sources only for this article. However African and Nigerian history have been mainly oral and not written. This situation made worse with colonisation where whole society fabric were obliterated and the colonial powers forbade traditional rulers engaging in certain activities including producing certain artefacts.
However based on the links you sent me on reliable sources of evidence I see that primary sources like oral interviews and artefacts are acceptable:
'A work on history is not likely to be taken seriously as a scholarship if it only cites secondary sources, as it does not indicate that original research has been done.'(Primary Source)
For this project I carried out extensive research on Prince Aigbogun and everything I wrote are direct quotations from the interviewees. Knowing what I now know, these cover the point you made that if he is not named the reference is not likely to be useful.
So I believe that the issue or reliable sources is sorted with that.
About the referencing Something went wrong and I have not been able to correct that. I think I will just remove the references section and publish without a new section.
About the peacock terms I cannot agree that the revised version uses peacock terms. I took great care to remove any based on the last feedback.
I cannot find how to include citing oral sources. Is it okay to use quotation marks within the text body?
Please can you answer my last question. Thank you very much.
Fidelia Nimmons Imanluk (talk) 10:26, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Fidelia, based on your statements, it appears you are relying on Original research (read that) which not allowed. You can use very limited quotes from primary sources but any source needs to be published, including oral histories. There is no mechanism to cite unpublished oral histories as they are not allowed. See also the notability guidelines which requires multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent and have written in-depth about a subject in order to warrant an article. If no such sources exist, an article is not possible. S0091 (talk) 13:57, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello S0091,
Your latest feedback is very helpful because I have published all of the oral histories narrated to me from Igueben Kingdom since 2006 about their customs which are just the same as that of the Kingdom of Benin where they migrated from. I have been so busy trying to link words in the article to online published sources from multiple sources that I forgot about them.
I do have published books going back over 10 years which include Aigbogun's names. These are very detailed indepth information on the people's customs and history. I will use them now.
Thank you very much for your help in this matter.
Kind regards. Imanluk (talk) 16:57, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Igun Street moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Igun Street. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it needs more sources to establish notability and it has too many problems of language or grammar. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Reading Beans (talk) 05:48, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jamiebuba, I can see you are on a mission against my articles. I published this article and it was moved to draft with some suggestions on improving it. I am in the middle of that and you have rejected it without giving me a chance to address the areas identified.
What authority have you to reject articles because in your own view they should not be on Wikipedia. My last article you rejected meets Wikipedia sources guidelines on use of oral history. You rejected it on the grounds that the person is not notable enough. Yet there are people on Wikipedia with simple two sentences biographies because they have an OBE. The one you rejected was the Chief Royal Blacksmith of the Benin Kingdom who worked across a large part of that area.
History records that do not allow oral tradition sources as you are claiming that Wikipedia does is not reliable and is biased against other cultures of the world. Without oral historical sources where would the world be today? I suggest you take a couple of basic history lessons before you reject any more articles. Your view on Wikipedia is dangerous because it is racist against many cultures of the world that are not current Western media topics.
Finally why is it your duty to pursue my articles on Wikipedia and reject them? Imanluk (talk) 10:39, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
