2016-17 Champions League : Poland
[edit]Hi, I saw your comment on your edit in the 2016-17 Champions League. Just saying that the Polish champion is not known yet ; according to that source [2], "Until the end of the regular season, three rounds remain. Later, the table will be divided into two groups, five games will be played in the final round. Points will not be, however, divided as it is in the league of men. [edit]Given the comments at the AFD, I think WP:DRV is the correct venue for this, see if people's concerns have been resolved. GiantSnowman 07:08, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- I suggest you start a new DRV, highlighting the improvements/expansion. GiantSnowman 17:31, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- I recommended DRV last time and the deletion was upheld - that means that if I had simply restored the article it would not have been the right thing to do, so DRV was acceptable. The same applied this time - we need consensus. GiantSnowman 07:58, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
WNL Shield
[edit]Hi Koppapa, you will find a more detailed explanation of the WNL Shield at 2015–16 Women's National League (Ireland)#WNL Shield. Easy to confuse with with WNL Cup as both competitions followed similar formats. They were linked as one featured the reverse fixtures of the latter. Traditionally in Ireland, Shield competitions, e.g. League of Ireland Shield and League of Ireland First Division Shield, have been used as an alternative to just playing an extra series of games in a league with just a small number of teams. They mostly use group stage formats. Not sure if this competition will be played in shortened 2016 season. No mention of it in articles about new season. DjlnDjln (talk) 13:32, 28 July 2016 (UTC)
- Certainly, not just a one-off game. Not sure if it will play in short 2016 season. Maybe it will be revived in 2017 during a full season. Djln Djln (talk) 14:22, 30 July 2016 (UTC)

Why in a template?
[edit]Hey, I put it in a template mainly cause it seems like the usual way of doing things for tournaments. Every season article I have been doing like the 2016 Indian Super League season, 2016–17 I-League etc. uses a template for the table and it is inspired by pages like 2016–17 Premier League or 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup etc. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 16:07, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
2018 AFC Women's Asian qualification
[edit]You undo an edit but end up not being not sure yourself and end up saying that they were "probably" recognized now, just wow. First, RSSSF is a reliable source. Do you think they just pulled that fact out of thin air? Second, what do you mean by "recognized"? If you mean by FIFA, then no, they're not. You can even check some of the nation's historical fixtures on FIFA.com, they're not there. Third, regardless of them being recognized or not (which they're not), the fact that those editions weren't under the AFC means that it was a different tournament. Key words here are "previous tournament". Therefore, you can't count them towards a nation's previous tournament appearance count. It's common sense. It's like saying the Asian Games is also the Asian Cup and their appearances in those should be counted towards their previous tournament appearance count. It's still an Asian Championship, but different organizing body which is the case for the 1977 to 1983 editions of the Asian Women's Championship. 180.190.54.17 (talk) 17:09, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

West Germany / Germany
[edit]Hi, I'm not sure on your last changes here. I think it should be left as "Germany" since FIFA credits the Germany national football team as 1981's champion. If you just say "West Germany" you'll need to click in the link for discovering this recognition from FIFA. Nevertheless, you have a certain point, since the anachronism should be avoided. I propose 2 options:
1) Maybe with a simple note below stating "As West Germany" your point may be acknowledged without changing the "Germany" denomination.
This would be the simplest fix, but I prefer another one that could fix also the case with the Soviet Union. Since the name "Soviet Union" ignores the fact that FIFA (as in Germany's case) credits the actual Russia for that championship, we should state this fact too. But in this case we can't just put a note "As Soviet Union" since Wikipedia has a specific article on Soviet Union's national football team (but there's no such article for West Germany's). And hence my second option:
2) Maybe it would be better to use something like in Yugoslavia's case. I mean something like " Germany (as West Germany)" and " Russia (as Soviet Union)".
What do you think? Ipsumesse (talk) 07:12, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Ipsumesse:. If Russia had achieved a fourth place or better then " Russia (as Soviet Union)" would be fine. But since 100% of those finishes were solely achieved by the Soviet Union, it doesn't make sense to put Russia there. Not really sure about the German case, it's the same logic for me. Maybe we should ask for more opinions. There is some discussion here. -Koppapa (talk) 08:33, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Darts
[edit]I agree with you about the Darts rankings site. This person has something against Taylor. I should point out that the two IP sites are from the same place indicating it is one person (hence a sockpuppet). Perhaps the site should be restricted to long term users. Cheers. Alan Davidson (talk) 14:49, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Do either of you people know anything about darts ?. You seem to be the only two people in the world that do not know that Phil Taylor announced his retirement plans last year and thatbthe 2018 World Championship would be his last ever event as a professional. He duely reached the final and was beaten. He said he was glad to be retiring from darts and sky sports paid tribute to his career. He resigned his PDPA membership and is no longer a professional player. If you need any further educating on the matter do not be afraid to ask ok. Regards 31.200.190.37 (talk) 02:07, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Koppapa, I would disregard an anonymous post like this. Of course Phil Taylor remains entitled to play if he wishes, and his rating remains. There is no PDC category of retired - it is made up by this person. Several others on the list (which is hundreds long) have stated they have retired. But this anonymous person does not know Wikipedia protocol. It is of course an encyclopedia, and must be based its information on sources. No OR (Original research). The only source given is the PDC site; and then it quotes it incorrectly without stating why. However, ... this anonymous person has acknowledged that next time the site is updated, if Phil Taylor remains, it must be deliberate. I am sorry I caused comments by the anonymous person to be brought here, I was wanting to speak to you. All the best. I also assume good faith (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Assume_the_assumption_of_good_faith). I tend to walk away from people like this - after all the official site is what counts. Alan Davidson (talk) 04:22, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Koppapa, perhaps I should leave this alone - but just to show you the absurdity of this. I Googled "PDC order of merit". And every hit on the first page (except the hits for Wikipedia) have the correct list as at 3 January 2018, the same list as the PDC. I am sure the writers of those sites know darts, including: PDC Order of Merit | PDC - PDC Order of Merit | PDPA - Darts Database - Darts Database Stats - Darts World Magazine - Darts.Tv. Again sorry to bother you. Alan Davidson (talk) 04:48, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Alan you obviously know nothing about sport do you ?. i told you phil taylor had retired nearly two months ago and resigned hismembership which means he cannot play, Nevermind your googling pdc order of merits you haven't a clue stick to what you know about whatever that maybe because it certainly is not darts. You claimed taylor could play when he wanted. You really are clueless. 178.167.197.242 (talk) 02:57, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Too much level of detail?
[edit]You have deleted many contents on the page Classic Tetris World Championship, commenting that "too much level of detail for Wikipeida." What does this mean? Is there a criterion or guideline for how detail the content of a Wiki page should be? Bruce Chen 0010334 (talk) 10:53, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
With growth of a Classic Tetris scene there is still too little details in the current article. Removing the "other notable tournaments" part leave the topic way too vague and arbitrary. The solutions may be either making a whole another article for a Classic Tetris scene (and including all the tournaments there) or removing information about other tournaments from the CTWC page.37.7.134.73 (talk) 13:54, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
DELETE lots of contents because "Too much level of detail"?
[edit]Before DELETING thousands of words from Classic Tetris World Championship, please elaborate the meaning of "too much level of detail" and the criteria for how detail the content of a NON-DETAILED Wiki page should be. Thanks.
Daniel Wang 19128 (talk) 14:50, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- I mean the FIFA_World_Cup#Results only lists the top 4, and it is quite a lot bigger. Getting 5th is just not relevant for anyone outside the tetris-scene. -Koppapa (talk) 20:15, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for replying. Even though FIFA_World_Cup#Results only lists the top 4, it doesn't mean that the fact that some countries make it to top 8 doesn't important. Moreover, although some tetris players in CTWC only make it to the top 8, they are still recognized as "legends", "fans-favorite", like Matt Buco, Jani, Svavar, Trey, etc. Those players are also very important in classic tetris community. German clubs
[edit]Hey, so 1. FFC Frankfurt and FF USV Jena will compete under new names (the "men" version). The article should just be moved on 1 July 2020 or? Kante4 (talk) 08:49, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hmm, not totally sure yet. The way i see it: Both articles shouldn't be moved. FFC Frankfurt transfers all girls and both women's teams to Eintracht. I guess the FFC ceases to exist then. Eintrach already has a women'steam playing in the third divison. So the new Eintracht team probably should continue that artile (which doesn't exist yet). For USV Jena, it is basically the same: They transfers all girls and both women's teams to Carl Zeiss Jena. Jena's old womens teams competing in I believe tier 4 will effectively become Carl Zeiss III then. FF USV Jena continues to legally exist but as an empty club with no associated teams. -Koppapa (talk) 10:22, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- So, both articles should be kept and new ones created? (Mostly copy/paste at start) Kante4 (talk) 12:47, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Women's Eredivisie seasons
[edit]A tag has been placed on Template:Women's Eredivisie seasons requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
