Horace Wass

[edit]

Loganberry said: Since he played 400 times in league football, but made only one first-class appearance in cricket, I would imagine that football sources would be more likely to provide the answers. Chesterfield FC's official site has a fair bit of info, but what it doesn't include, sadly, is his date of death (assuming he is dead). He can't have died in '38, though, since he was "During the war, Horace served as a PT Instructor in the Middle East, rising to the rank of Sergeant-major." It would appear that his glue-salesman says would have been post-war, too.

The strange thing is you would have thought at least one football source could pick up the answers. I hadn't actually seen a profile of him on any footballing websites and I'm surprised and thankful that you managed to pick that up from the website. Cricket Archive seems to have a lot of death dates covered (although going as far back into Kent's history as I have has uncovered some distinct holes in its coverage) but looking for something Chesterfield-bound must be the next port of call.

I will keep searching around for this information to see if I can get anywhere closer to a reliable source. Bobo. 15:28, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

Hey Loganberry, feel free to do whatever to the photo really, if you wanna crop it go ahead as I would have no idea really! As for using it for other things, such as Oval or Surrey, go ahead that would be fine. I also have quite a good one of Mark Butcher, which I might put up later as well... Yes, the reason why I rated it as start class is because of the lack of references if they were increased the article would be rated higher than start as it is at the moment02blythed 20:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:Graeme Wight Jr

[edit]

I did that as I always thought traditionally a full stop always come after a shorthanded Junior (e.g. I have attempted to type in one famous Jr I know of, the racing driver Al Unser Jr on the wikipedia search engine and this redirects to Al Unser, Jr. as a result) and also on the JR page, it quotes... Jr. is the abbreviation for Junior. Going back to the topic, considering the google engine does not include the dot at the end, I have now revert it back at your request. Reversion of edits by banned users

[edit]

The edits are reverted regardless of their merit, and because of that I don't generally check what the edit consisted of, although I do quickly check the page after I've reverted to make sure it doesn't look like this, which had been in place for almost two days for the record so might be worth watchlisting. I don't have a problem with edits being redone as such, just the other day a whole swathe of them were done by one editor using the undo function, which I wasn't particularly impressed by. Keith Dabengwa

[edit]

Thanks for acknowledging my contribution to the article, having read WikiProject Cricket it seems agreed that the scorecard (and all current domestic Zimbabwe scorecards) is unreliable, I have therefore deleted the final sentence of the article.

I see you've contacted One Night In Hackney about the reverts yesterday, I was the person who changed multiple of these back that he referred to (he then reverted them back because I did them all at once (it's good enough for him but not me). On this Test list there were eight articles that needed reverting I have since changed and added to the Jeff Jones, Courtney Walsh and Richard Illingworth pages there are five further articles that still needing 'reverting' back these are: Lincoln Roberts, Gilbert Jessop, Sonny Moloney, Jon Lewis and Alphonso Theodore Roberts if you've got some free time then you may want to revert this and maybe add to them. Have you considered renaming the article? Aatomic1 22:20, 14 May 2007 (UTC) What do you think? Aatomic1 22:42, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article you referred to in the Guardian newspaper can also be found on the internet at: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2007/05/16/moores_completes_unlikely_jour.html Jpeeling 19:26, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Graeme Hick article has a very good start. A picture is needed, as you said, and a little more biographic information aside from the cricketing. With that, the article is easily a B class. - Triviaa 13:05, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

George Wheldon

[edit]

or whatever his name was. Aston Villa sources call him Fred or Freddy with a Y, my Birmingham City book calls him Freddie with IE, and the England reference in the article has Fred. So there's certainly a consensus from the football direction that it's Fred or some variant rather than George. I don't know anything about the cricket sources - if they didn't have a decent source for which first name he was known by, presumably they'd stick with initials?

I think it would be reasonable to move him to Fred Wheldon. Struway (talk) 15:07, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well done! poor bloke, don't suppose he ever imagined people 100 years on spending time discussing whether he was a Fred or a George! Struway (talk) 07:19, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Philip Strax

[edit]

You contributed to an article on Dr. Philip Strax. I had a close relationship with this man (RIP), and I would like to add to this article some biographical information. As this would be the first article that I would be making a substantial contribution to, would you be willing to help guide me through the process of compiling the information?

The article can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Strax

Duck

[edit]

Hi,

Fair enough, was just trying to improve the article because somebody mentioned on the Kevin Pietersen FAC that the definitions were confusing and I had linked to it. If I get some more time, I'll find some proper references.

Best wishes,

'A' cricket teams

[edit]

Hi mate, I've just been going through articles you created such as West Indies A and England A with the intention of getting an idea of what is needed to complete the Pakistan A cricket team redlink. I'm just wondering how you got the information listed under 'Season-by-season results'? Did you just go through the tours section on Cricket Archive year by year or is there any easier way such as one page that lists the results of an A team?

Thanks for any assistance Crickettragic 07:57, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for something to do? WikiProject Furry is improving articles on furry and anthropomorphic topics, and we'd like to have you on board.

Our current goal is to raise Anthrocon, furry convention and furry fandom to good article status and beyond - but if that doesn't take your fancy, there are plenty of other articles to work on. Give it a go and let us know how you're doing!

You received this one-time invitation because you are a Furry Wikipedian. GreenReaper 23:03, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
