Dear Mindmatrix. I reverted your deletion on the paleo diet page, as I thought your deletion was a bit too tough...peer review publications are not the ONLY reliable source in WP policy. Nevertheless I agree with you that this section was a bit out of focus as an introduction there, therefore instead of a deletion I moved the incriminated section down a bit and added a couple of links. Hope you see my point - regards MarmotteiNoZ 02:19, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited King City, Ontario, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Temperate forest (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). 2011 census
[edit]I thought I saw a past discussion in my travels. That was the one. Thanks for identifying it. I searched "census" in the archives box of the notice board, but I didn't get any results for some reason. Hwy43 (talk) 06:30, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
I simplified it into a plain external link rather than a {{cite web}} citation, mostly because I think the latter was broken. Anyways, I think it's serviceable now, let me know what you think. -- P.T. Aufrette (talk) 01:16, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- I have a copy in a sandbox in my userspace. I'm not sure why it's not working though. The original intent was to use {{SCref}} for citing sources for all census data, so that the onerous task of citing them would be more easily accomplished. I'd still like to achieve this, though your re-write is a good short-term compromise. Mindmatrix 16:49, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- I did want to get a version working quickly, I've already started using it. What do you think would be the next logical extension of functionality, or the highest priority? It would be possible to add additional years, for 2006 and so forth, although I suspect it would be messy because the URLs probably had entirely different formats. -- P.T. Aufrette (talk) 17:53, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- I rewrote it as a cite web template. -- P.T. Aufrette (talk) 18:14, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Quispamsis
[edit]Hello. Can I ask you a favour? In 2008, after a talk page discussion, you moved Quispamsis, New Brunswick to Quispamsis. In 2010, someone came along and cut-and-paste the article back to the disambiguated title, and I guess nobody noticed. Would it be possible to move the article back and get the edit histories properly merged? Cheers, --Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:33, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- Fixed. Thankfully the article was redirected on the same date, so the histories were easily merged. Mindmatrix 20:02, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks!--Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:28, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- It turns out the same editor did the same thing to a number of articles (although not always with cut-and-paste). Some of the moves were caught and reversed at the time, and others I just now moved back. Could you please help with Oromocto, New Brunswick and Richibucto, New Brunswick. Sorry to burden you, but I think that cleans it all up.--Skeezix1000 (talk) 15:58, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks!--Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:28, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- Oromocto is done. Richibucto involves three pages, two of which have merged histories which I'll have to split. Can you check the revision history for Richibucto and identify which revisions should be moved back to Richibucto (disambiguation). So far, I have everything after 10 January 2010, plus 5 May 2009 and maybe two on 17 November 2008 (yours, perhaps that of Plasma east). Mindmatrix 21:24, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- What a nightmare. Will do. Thanks. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 01:26, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

- I've reviewed the histories. I think what I stated above is accurate, and those are the only edits to be moved to the disambiguation page from the undisambiguated title. I'll also have to split the edit history of the third one. I'll do this soon. Mindmatrix 21:42, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, check it out. I think I got everything. For the record: I deleted Richibucto, New Brunswick, Richibucto, and Richibucto (disambiguation), then restored some of the undisambiguated article and moved it to the disambiguation page and restored that page. Then I restored the disambiguated name, moved it to the undisambiguated name, restored the remaining part of the latter, then restored the remaining part of the former. Then I cleaned up whatever quirks remained. Sheesh. Mindmatrix 21:58, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Abuse Filter on the Article Feedback Tool
[edit]Hey there :). You're being contacted because you're an edit filter manager, At the moment, we're developing Version 5 of the Article Feedback Tool, which you may or may not have heard about. If you haven't; for the first time, this will involve a free-text box where readers can submit comments :). Obviously, there's going to be junk, and we want to minimise that junk. To do so, we're working the Abuse Filter into the tool.
For this to work, we need people to write and maintain filters. I'd be very grateful if you could take a look at the discussion here and the attached docs, and comment and contribute! Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:24, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Neenish tarts, mindless edits and positive criticism
[edit]Mindmatrix, I can see that you are dedicated to improving Wikipedia, and that you have made valuable contributions. But, I suspect, judging from your edit on the Neenish Tart page (sorry I'm still learning technicalities of editing so no links or stuff) that you find negative criticism and mindless edits easier than assimilating information. What do I mean: here's the original:
- This tart was created in Australia, and is still mainly only known from there [1].
Your edit:
- This tart was created in Australia (citation needed), and is still mainly only known from there [1].
My edit:
- This tart was created in Australia and is still mainly only known from there [1].
You did not read EIGHT more words in a sentence, yes I agree, edit {3} is better than edit {1}, but your suggestion would have lead to something like this:
- This tart was created in Australia [1], and is still mainly only known from there.
Which, following your apparent desire for 'accuracy' would have lead to:
- This tart was created in Australia [1], and is still mainly only known from there (citation needed)
In other words you are too quick to criticise, doing so before reading entire sentences in this case, and this is probably why you seem to have attracted a small amount of hostility. I suggest you think about positive criticism, and about meaning rather than data. However, again, thank you for your contributions brunswicknic — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brunswicknic (talk • contribs) 16:33, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- Please review the article contributions again. You'll find I did not add that tag; it was added by anonymous user 109.145.143.118 on 22 October 2011. The only edit I've made to the article is to add the infobox, which, as you'll note, includes Australia as the country of origin. Which part of my edit was "mindless"? As an aside, the supplied reference requires an account at that site to access, so its contents cannot be easily verified by a casual user of that site. Could you please provide a relevant sourced quotation from that site to verify the claim? Mindmatrix 16:48, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

thanks for the revert on the Famous Five talk-page
[edit]I'd wondered about doing it myself, but didn't want an edit war - better that someone who's not been involved in the discussion did it. Thanks! Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 15:38, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
- rcoutts12 has deleted it again (3rd time), after your two reverts and admonitions. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 04:23, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
- and rcoutts12 has taken it off again. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 22:42, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
- I don't need a play-by-play account of edits to the page - I have it on my watchlist. Mindmatrix 23:24, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
- fair enough - thanks for your assistance. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 23:51, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
