Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Grand vizier into Imperial, royal and noble ranks. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 19:54, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Diannaa yeah but how do i do that Moresnet (talk) 12:26, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You do it by saying in your edit summary in the destination article. Like this: copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. — Diannaa (talk) 13:39, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Regions of Ireland indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page List of active separatist movements in South America, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 06:24, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia

[edit]

You did not identify the source of the material in your edit. It appears to be List of active separatist movements in Europe. Copying within Wikipedia is acceptable but it must be attributed.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.

While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I have done so for you this time, but hope you will follow best practices yourself next time.

I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors, but there are some t's that need to be crossed.S Philbrick(Talk) 14:30, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to List of historical separatist movements in South America and the Caribbean. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. microbiologyMarcus (petri dish·growths) 17:14, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Moresnet, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, List of historical separatist movements in South America, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of historical separatist movements in South America.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|MicrobiologyMarcus}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of historical separatist movements, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mau Mau. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:04, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

as to how Indonesia is gaining regions - when it already has a comprehensive delineation of separated geographical areas in the form of provinces and islands. It is hard to see where the precedent (that is the administrative component) for the created 'regions' comes from - it would be good to see a WP:RS for the process.

Also I have never seen Java as a region, maybe I have missed something somewhere

JarrahTree 01:26, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@JarrahTree they arent ganing new regions, im just making a page abt the western indonesian islands because i saw that the eastern indonesian islands had a page made abt them but western indonesia doesnt Moresnet (talk) 01:28, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Communist Parent Categories for Labor/Labour History Categories

[edit]

Certainly there is some overlap between communism and labor histories, but many (most?) of the articles under the Category:Labor history by country tree are not about communist topics. Per WP:CAT, I just removed the Category:Communism by country parent categories you added. If there are individual articles that belong in the communist category tree, by all means add those individually.

If I misunderstood something, just tag me and I'm happy to discuss. - RevelationDirect (talk) 14:29, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
