Hi, thanks for taking an interest in this subject. Although this article may have been written by the subject, we must assume good faith. I agree its likely but the username could be an adoring fan. Also the article has been around unchallenged for a long time. Vanity in itself is not really grounds for automatic deletion if the subject is notable. Please refer to Wikipedia:Deletion policy to start a discussion for deletion if you want to pursue it. Happy wikiing! Mallanox 13:50, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about what Wikipedia guidelines say: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Autobiography Creating an article about yourself Creating or editing an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it will likely be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability. -N00b33

You are very right to question an article that looks likely to have been created by the subject. There are a lot of them about that are blatantly non-notable. I've got a hard time with this one proving non-notability. Any original research can be cut out of an article, the tone can be changed to non-POV and it remains to be seen how verifiable it is. This is a common dispute, unverifiable vs unverified. Personally I don't like to see articles deleted unless it can be shown that it is unverifiable. You will notice that a tag has been added to the page flagging it as needing attention as it is written from a POV. I'm a believer in improvement over deletion but we each have our opinion and I respect yours that the article should go. Mallanox 03:33, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So theoretically, as long as you are notable you are allowed to create a an entry for yourself in Wikipedia? N00b33 19:32, 29 August 2006 (UTC)N00b33[reply]

Anyone can create an article on any subject they like, it's whether it stands up to scrutiny that's the key. Bernardo Sorj is an example I know of. I tried very hard to get his article deleted as he wrote it. Turns out he is a sociologist of note. His article stays and is open to edit by anyone. You will notice on the page history that HResearcher made huge changes to the article to make it fit wikipedia. At the moment we're debating Predrag Gosta. If his claims to notability are refuted, his page will go. If not it will remain and you can feel free to remove anything unverified on it. If only a stub remains, so be it. Don't feel disheartened if your viewpoint isn't upheld you've made a good call, the article should be discussed and your reseach abilities are greatly needed.
