Your addition to Angels Fall First: Planetstorm has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. You have uploaded three files to Wikimedia commons - Errah3.jpg Kerrat1.jpg Ixion1.jpg. All three are in game screenshots of the Angels Fall First:Planetstorm game, and are therefore copyright of the games designer/manufacturer. If you wish to use these images on Wikipedia, you are required to provide a Non-free use rationale for each image, explaining why it is acceptable to use a copyright image. If you do not do this, the images will be deleted in seven days. Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:09, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
While we are at it, I have also removed the logo. Distributing the game as freeware does not remove the copyright of the designers - you must not upload these images as if you hold the copyright for them. Instead, you must provide a non-free use rationale (sometimes refered to as a FUR) for each image. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:17, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- I revisited the article and have reuploaded some of the files as well as updated missing links and added new information. Again I ask to please inform me of said requirements instead of removing them outright (you removed them immediately despite the rule of a seven day warning you yourself mentioned in the same paragraph). I can provide needed rationale/FUR pretty quickly and have done so when I was finally pointed out to their existence. And as I have mentioned I own part of the said media. Please email the developers/designers of the mod in question (Angels Fall First Universe) and ask for my username if you are in doubt.
- Labeling me as a 'persistent violator' immediately without even warning me beforehand is unnecessarily hostile. I am not a regular Wikipedia contributor, obviously, so it would be better if you showed me what I should modify in order to meet the standards instead of just simply treating me like an interloper. It doesn't help that making the articles is a lot of work to someone not used to it, and having them deleted on a whim is bound to get tempers up.--Obsidi♠nSoul 07:01, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Planetstorm 06.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Planetstorm 06.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:22, 10 September 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 15:22, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- The images in question does have a rationale and purpose specified. Just buried because of my inexperience with wikipedia editing. I have added the required link to the source. As I have stated in the description, I own part of the content of the said images being one of the developers for the game. Despite placing tags on the images for non-free screenshots, they still get marked as untagged with no copyright status specified.
- Screenshots are not like other images in that they can be taken by anyone, but the depicted images also have different creators. In this case, it was taken by a teammate while the depicted art is partly mine. Why is the requirement that draconian considering that similar screenshots of commercial games are left alone? An example is this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sc2kscr.png
- The uploader merely stated himself as the original source in that file, which is obviously not the case if you nitpick. As you probably would need to credit the developers of the game, and the dozens of artists and programmers involved in it as well the OS it was on. I mean, where does it end? It's like uploading a picture of the TV and having to get the permission of everyone from the owner of the TV down to the individual manufacturers of the smallest cathode ray tube.
- Rest assured, while me and my team intend to keep copyright for the said game, screenshots are available to anyone who plays it. Me and my team are the copyright holders and give permission for it to be used as thus. Feel free to verify if necessary.
- Also, the game for which the article is made and the screenshots depict, is completely free. Nevertheless I'll clean up the tags and descriptions of all the images. Please inform me if I need anything more.
Bot actions
The reason why ImageTaggingBot is marking your images as "untagged" is because you're using "subst:" when applying the tags. Instead, you should simply insert the tags as {{Non-free use}} or similar.
The reason why SineBot marked your comment as unsigned is because your signature doesn't contain a link to either your userpage or your talkpage. --Carnildo (talk) 19:55, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- I do use the four tildes, but it doesn't link back to talk page. I only just realized it's because I use a different version of my username (with spaces) in my signature field in the preferences. I've fixed it now and added a link to my talk page as well. --Obsidi♠nSoul (talk) 07:16, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- Bah! >.< Talk doesn't work despite being correctly formatted.
- Oh, never mind, haha. It's because I am ON the talk page. Sheesh. Anyway...
Speedy deletion nomination of 174.6.12.124
I assume the above article was created by mistake, but as it clearly does not belong in article mainspace I have tagged it for speedy deletion. Jimmy Pitt talk 11:49, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
- I am not sure where this was meant to be, but I have moved it to User:Obsidian Soul/174.6.12.124 to save it from deletion and let you move it to somewhere more appropriate. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:54, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hm... how did it become an article? I was actually trying to submit a vandalism report to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. :/ But yeah, not very familiar with that stuff here. If anyone else would like to do so, feel free. The user with the IP 174.6.12.124 seems to be a repeat violator. However I can not check how many times he has actually been blocked as he erases his talk page regularly. Again, please check and see if my previous action was appropriate. Anyway thanks, sorry for the inconvenience. --Obsidi♠nSoul 12:25, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
Jejemon
Apologies. I should have written an edit summary. I undid your "see also" edit because Internet culture, Internet slang, Leet, Lolcat and SMS language are tangential to the article. The see also section is for subjects closely and directly connected. Best wishes Span (talk) 16:57, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough, thanks for the explanation.--Obsidi♠nSoul 16:59, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- LOL, My fault. Howard the Duck correctly pointed out something I didn't notice. All the links were already at the bottom template box.--Obsidi♠nSoul 17:13, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ah. Such is life. Merry Christmas. Span (talk) 20:56, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
- Merry Christmas :) --Obsidi♠nSoul 00:17, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
Your Abuse Response Filing
Greetings! Thank you for filing an Abuse Report for abusive behavior originating from 174.6.12.124. Unfortunately, there was a problem with your filing and it has been rejected. Please see Wikipedia:Abuse response/174.6.12.124 for details on why the filing was rejected. You may also review filing criteria for abuse reports filings. Thanks, Acather96 (talk) 13:37, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. As I mentioned in the report, I have no easy way of checking how many times he had been blocked as it seems like he frequently blanks/edits his talk page. But thanks.--Obsidi♠nSoul 23:29, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
