References

[edit]

Hi OldShul.

Here's an easy format for your references:

<ref name=Landmarks>[http://www.nylandmarks.org/events/lectures_and_other_events/conservancy_holds_exclusive_tour_of_historic_queens_synagogues/ "Conservancy holds exclusive tour of historic Queens Synagogues"], [[New York Landmarks Conservancy]] website. Accessed April 2, 2010.</ref>

Please use it. Also, as you know, one should not repeat the reference, but can simply use <ref name=Landmarks/> for subsequent uses. Thanks! Jayjg (talk) 17:23, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Old Synagogue

[edit]

Got it - it just wanted the "|" before the "thumb" in the coding.

Happy editing! --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:53, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Got it, and put the link in externals on the article. I'm deferring to another set of eyes - might be best to bring this to AFD, as it's now controversial. =) --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 18:37, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

...and done. AFD is here. Note, I'm going neutral on the AFD - my reasons are explained therein. I don't like deleting stuff, if it's consolation, but we'll see what else we can bring up for Mr. Levin. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 18:41, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 20:42, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed you removed the category; however, Rundbogenstil categorization can be reliably sourced - see this PDF, page 4, which is used as a source in the article itself. GregorB (talk) 10:04, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's right, Zagreb Synagogue was an eclectic building, with elements of several different styles, and you're quite correct - no style is "pure". As for the Leopoldstädter Tempel category, this may be problematic because it is less exact (i.e. more subjective) and more difficult to source. This is perhaps best done outside of categorization, e.g. in the Leopoldstädter Tempel article, by listing all the synagogues that were inspired by Förster's work (actually, the article already does that, although Zagreb Synagogue is not listed). Temple Denial

Thank you for your message. The problem is that practically all the sources are primary sources, and Wikipedia articles are supposed to be written using secondary sources. Please see WP:PRIMARY for more information. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 18:21, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ahavath Torah has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable building

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TM 17:46, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Jonathan Hausman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. TM 17:47, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
